As the surgery finished Willow stood watching her unconcious brother be taken from the OR. Apparently she had been watching from the observation area. She glanced at him saw his chest rise and fall then immediatly went to Drake.“What happened?” She asked trying not to make it sound like an order.

CODrake looked the woman talking to him up and down once to identify her. “Ah. Captain. Your brother, as he told me, fell down a ladder, the distance of roughly 1 deck. He shattered his elbow, and broke both bones of the forearm. He was a… less than keen patient. But everything went as planned. He should be coming out of anaesthetic anytime now.”
Willow nodded. The sound of pent up worry escaping in one woosh of air. She kept her as.folded holding her elbows.
“My brother ia not a fan of Doctors. He spent a number of years seeing specialists and often reacts funny to sedatives and pain medication.which makes him.unwilling a patient as you put it. Was there any trauma to his abdomen or ribs? He also has isolated dextrocardia. I need to be sure he has no other injuries.”

Adrian Sorel sat quietly by Cai’s bedside and wondered if he should stay or go as he glanced at the Captain nervously. His lip was caught between his teeth as he chewed on it.

Cai groaned slightly and turned slightly. He was pale and his blood.preasure slightly high.

Adrian Sorel immediately turned at the quiet sound and asked worriedly,”Cai? Hey Cai, its Adrian Sorel. It’s okay, the surgery is over and the Captain is here.” He said to his friend.

Drake turned back to glance at Cai, then looked back at the Captain. “He had a decent size cut on his forehead when he dragged himself in. That and the arm were the only injuries that showed. He’s shown high heart rate and BP since he came in. That’s my next stop. Since he still has high blood pressure, let’s find out if his heart and lungs are fine. It’s all one scan.” He walked a few steps away. “Nurse Austen. Let’s get a full scan of Young Master Taylor’s chest. Try to get it while he’s still groggy and won’t put up too much of a fight.”
-Dr Drake Marshall
Willow followed Drake as he spoke. “Id rather you ran a full Cardio workup and respiratory series as well.” She said.
Cai meanwhile opened his eyes and frowned at the figure looming over him adjusting the biobed. He turned his head and spotting Adrian tried to sit up. He had some.difficulty here.
“…whas…gon..” he muttered.Cai and Willow
Retired doctors. Drake thought.
“It’s okay, lay still!” Adrian Sorel said anxiously as he rose and uncertainly put a hand out to try and stop the older boy. His uncertain gaze rose to the Captain and Doctor as they came up.”He just woke up.” He said in explanation.

The nurse nodded and helped the young Vulcan settle the teen.
“Nurse. After the scan, do an EKG, prepare a cardiac stress test, between the EKG and the stress test, get everything you can about respiratory function.” Drake turned to the Captain and quietly said “Captain. While I respect that you know your brother’s medical history, I will remind you of four words: attending physician, doctor’s orders.”
-Dr Drake Marshall
Willow scowled at Drake. Just as quietly she replied. “With all due respect Doctor Marshall, as a cardiologist who has seen this particular condition as well as Cai’s guardian I do not feel that asking for specific tests to be run is beyond the realms of acceptable. Perhaps if you acquainted yourself with the patients medical history more thoroughly before rushing into surgery you would agree. Now as your captain I have three words for you Doctor, bed, side and manner. As the guardian of your teenage patient and not your captain I have eight words for you. Do not dismiss my concerns and do your damned job.” She turned away from him and helped Adrian and the nurse settle a confused Cai back onto the bio bed. Cheeks burning.
Willow and Cai
Retired cardiologist. The body scanner arrived and was positioned over Cai’s chest. An EKG setup was being assembled nearby. Drake walked over and had some difficulty getting through. “Excuse me. If the attending could get through to the patient that would be greatly appreciated.” For some reason, he felt the need to explain his thinking to the Captain, despite his frustrations with her. “Captain.” He said while he started to examine the scan “Before I came here, as soon as I had access to the files, I looked up every surgically relevant condition anyone has on this ship. I knew about Cai’s dextrocardia. But the methodology is simple. Handle the easy emergency: the arm, then play the long game. He may have heart trouble that contributed to the fall. But, we can’t accurately examine his heart if his heart rate and BP are severely elevated from extreme pain. Or if he’s on painkillers.” He looked up and over at the Captain. “You never asked my name. Doctor Drake Marshall. I’m one of Starfleet’s top surgeons.” He turned back to the scanner. “And I’ve seen much worse than this.” He focused in on the scan, poring over every detail.
-Dr Drake Marshall
Seeing the doctor’s irritation Adrian Sorel immediately backed up out of the way. He wondered for the second time if maybe he should just leave as he watched the medical team work on his friend. He didn’t want to leave his friend though, he had been so upset about the thought of surgery that he wanted to be there for him when he did finally wake up. Looking around he noted a chair sitting against the wall and quietly made his way over to it.
