Dawning closer still, Melaia exuded an awe she couldn’t clamp down on and hide if she tried. Moving right up to the table where the container was, she crouched down and folded her arms on the table to brace herself as she gazed into the container at the creatures. She wasn’t sure she even had the words to express how she was feeling right now. Her emotions were mixed and all over the place and their effects still left trails of moisture down her face. There was this sense that after what felt like a long time of feeling confused and a bit lost there was a tangible spark she could grasp on to. What it meant yet she wasn’t sure, but it was something new.

“I am going to leave this program I have set up running with an alert to my padd. I will be in the Science Labs if I am needed.” T’Pris said to Melaia and Anisha with a brisk nod before she made her way out.

T’Pris Psychobiologist

Anisha nodded and watched T’Pris go. Then she turned back to Melaia. She didn’t need her telepathy to get the vibes from the former Captain. She moved closer and laid a hand softly on Melaia’s shoulder for just a second. In Betazoid culture that was more than enough.

~Are you all right?~ she thought at her.

Mel nodded very slowly. Yes, I am. I just… She inhaled deeply and continue to gaze at the gastropods. I’ve missed this and I didn’t realize how much. She looked up at Anisha. “I joined Starfleet for the exploration, to push boundaries, including my own. It feels like it’s been so long since I last did that. And that’s not to say that becoming a mother hasn’t done that, but its… different.* She wasn’t sure how to explain it in a way that would makes sense but for the moment it would have to do.
