Lt. Alexis Bonner sat looking at the screen on the desk for several long minutes. For her it was almost a life time as she weighed the decision. Did she want it because she felt like she should, or some misplaced idea that returning to medical would erase everything that had happened in the last few months? Alexis couldn’t say for sure, she was not qualified to give herself a psychiatric evaluation. But she didn’t think that was it. Instead she had the intense desire to reclaim her life. But did that mean having to go back to medical? The work in science and R&D kept her mind satisfied, busy, and driven, but....she wanted more not just outside of work, but more than just one endless puzzle after another. She loved being a doctor, and there would always be lab time for her. It was how her brain worked.

She had worked hard to get the AMO spot on Ogawa and she’d given it up. Incorrectly, and with not enough information, letting fear guide her. And there was a good possibility that Walker would not want her to return, that Myqian wouldn’t allow the transfer, or that Kane decided he couldn’t spare her from science right now. But she wanted the spot and she was going to put in for it anyway.

Lt Bonner entered the science labs, no equipment, one PaDD, and not muttering to herself as she read it. She walked over to the officer door and pressed the chime.
