Having been given coordinates, soon enough supplies, the clinic module and personnel began beaming down. Dira went herself after making everything was coordinated in terms of supplies, but didn’t wait too long as she wanted to be one of the first down to greet the Chairman or whomever was his proxy. As the transporter beam shimmered around her and the surface took shape, Myqian mused to herself that if ever there was a time to make sure she paid attention to her psi abilities, now was it.
Commander Myqian, XO
When she landed she was in the middle of an old air field, or landing pad. There was a hanger to her left, and something that resembled a slum on her right. Before her was the Chairman and a small entourage. The first unfiltered wave of emotions that hit Dira was intense suspicion, a couple of notes of cautious optimism, and a thin underlying current of quiet desperation.
It took the XO a moment to breath deeply and reinforce her mental shielding. Unfortauntely, because of her mixed heritgage, it was never as solid as others could manage and thus she recognized that these were going to be long hours and days for her, that the sheer amount she’d be filtering and processing would be exhausting. She only hoped they could genuinely help and it would be worth it. As she cast her gaze around, Dira was overwhelmed by the despair and sheer need. She was very aware of the deep privilege she had grown up with and while she could feel their pain an anguish deeply, she did not know what it was like to be relegated to such living conditions.
The Chairman was the first to speak. He inclined his head slightly and flicked his eyes towards Myqian’s neck before speaking in a clear High Rihan accent “Good afternoon, Commander. Welcome to Habitation Center Dha, er, Ten.” He motioned towards the tents, “You will see I did not lie to you. With the collapse of the home world we have been more or less cut off from valuable resources. Our infrastructure is crumbling, our children are hungry, and our sick are dying.” As he spoke his thoughts became more recognizable… He was a proud man, doing his best to keep his composure, but asking for outside help was not something he was enjoying, and there was a fear that accepting Federation assistant would result in his or his family’s disappearance.
“We’ll be as quick as possibly setting up so we can tackle basic needs in priority,” Myqan replied,
“You may set up where you wish. Do try to avoid the slums at night. Desperate people take desperate measures and I don’t have the resources to deal with a hostage situation,” he added, and it was quite clear emotionally, if they got in trouble the crew of the Owie would be on their own.

“We understand,” Dira said softly.
“Meh, doubt they’d take hostages. Probably just take everything off our dead bodies and leave us for the scavengers… or maybe have dinner.” came a nonplussed voice from behind Myqian. A heavily tattooed and wild-haired figure wearing a blue Star Fleet uniform, Lieutenant pips on his collar, and carrying a large case hanging from a shoulder strap walked forward, their eyes peering from beneath a cascade of unkempt hair falling across their face. Their eyes darted back and forth, taking in the scene; and then they drew a deep breath through their nostrils. “Fear, despair, hopelessness, rage, and all the other facets of the oppressed and desperate…” Kane said as he stopped and looked around fully and then smiled a sarcastic smile at Myqian. “Smells like home.”

Myqian managed to not roll her eyes at the man, and yet his words made her gaze deeply at him, her dark eyes holding something akin to understanding, as if she were putting some things together in her mind. “Don’t mind the Lieutenant, Chairman, but his experiences might prove to be helpful here. Lieutenant Kane, this is Chairman Dikeel, Chairman, Lieutenant Kane, our Chief Science Officer. Our first goals are shelter, food and water while we get the medical facility built and running. So if there are others we need to be introduced to or situations we need filling in on, now would give us the best chance to assess needs,” Dira told the Chairman.
