Willow stirred the cup in her hand with a ferocity that it did not deserve. She continued a few moments staring out at the sea of stars before her and feeling like…well not that it mattered. She pressed her badge with a deep sigh of almost trepidation. What of he said no…=^= Doctor Onuru. Pleaae report to my office.=^=
She continued to stir and hoped that this time the position would stick. If he said yes.
Willow Taylor
CO=^= On my way Captain =^= came the immediate answer and the chime wasn’t long in the coming.
After being let in, Arun walked in purposefully - somehow he always walked that way - with his hands clasped behind his back. He moved with an efficiancy usually only found in security trained officers, but in contrast to them he exuded a degree of calm and patience rarely found in those.
It probably had to do with his deeply dark eyes under those bushy blond eyebrows and the shape of his lips that made him look like he was always on the brink of a smile. Anisha had the very same set of lips.He nodded to Willow and raised one eyebrow, but simply said “You wanted to see me?”
Willow nodded and waved at the chair in front of her desk. “Please sit down.”
She’s giving of strange emotions. If this has to do with you it’s either very good or very bad. * Anisha pointed out needlessly and then quickly added
Don’t you dare! * because she had yet again felt Arun’s strong curiosity and need to read the Captain’s thoughts. And yet again she kept him in check. It was ironic that of the two of them, she was better in following Starfleet protocol than he was… although nobody really knew that.
Arun Onuru, incoming XO
Willow tilted her head slightly and considered the man before her. Immediately a small blocking attempt formed as Willow reigned herself in.
“Sorry.” She appologised and smiled. “I can understand the temptation, isn’t there an ancient Betazed saying that states “One who speaks one thing, and thinks another, is fighting a war inside” I assure you that I won’t be doing that and honestly this isn’t a negative meeting, I hope.”
- Uh, that was creepy * Anisha thought. * How did she know you had a temptation to read her? If she’s telepathic she just breached protocol *
Arun raised one eyebrow. “Are you telepathic?” he simply asked.Willow seemed surprised by the question. “No. Not even remotely…” she looked confused a moment.
She stood and walked to the replicator. “Can I offer you a drink?” She asked.
Arun shook his head.
As a glass of peach ice tea materialised for her Willow considered Arun. “I’ll be blunt Commander. As you are no doubt aware our current XO has been called away suddenly leaving me in need to find an officer to replace her. I was hoping that you would be interested in the position.”
She sat on the edge of her desk and sipped her drink while she waited.

CO
- Positive, I knew it! * Anisha thought.
- No you did not * Arun thought back.
Willow watched as though she was aware there was a conversation that she was not privy to.
His face did not change as she made him the offer. When you had somebody else in your mind constantly, you had to learn how to keep the perfect poker face, otherwise you end up in a lunatic asylum. But he was excited, and very much so. He placed his fingers against each other, looking at them for a second, then he looked back at Willow, the black depths of his eyes seemed to hold a huge amount of deep thought.
“I am interested Captain. But I wonder if you realise the full scope of what this entails.... for all three of us.” he said.
- Don’t do this * Anisha thought instantly and her bad conscience hit him like a freight train. They were both able to hold it back under normal circumstances, but this was one of those situations where it was impossible to hide the truth.
You are my first priority * Arun simply thought back, mercilessly. It was their chorus, their theme so to say. Because it was inevitable.
Arun Onuru
She sipped her tea again. “Go on.” Was all she said calmly.

“Anisha might as well be here, our mind link is constant and while we can… retreat from each other’s mind to some extend for a certain amount of time, after that time she still knows all that has happened in that time and vice versa. On the one hand, you’ll get a constant relay to me that never fails, no matter how far apart you and me are. Anisha knows as much about Starfleet as any officer and she has been on her share of away missions. In that we are an asset. Our telepathy is very strong and during the occupation of Betazed by the Dominion we were both in service of Starfleet and the Betazed government to end the occupation… successfully. “
his glance became hard then
“We both had to use our telepathy offensively then and were unusually successful with it because it was always two of us, not only one mind attacking.” he took a deep breath, relaxing his shoulders.
“That is confidential by the way. As is the fact that if one of us should die, the other cannot survive. The surviving twin would go mad and it would be a mercy to kill me or her should one of us survive. When our minds are forced apart it is hard to bear and if that should happen, I am unable to command.... or do pretty much anything that requires concentration. Also, any command codes will be known by Anisha as well. She has a special security clearance from Command that allows her to share my knowledge as long as the confidence is not breached. Should she ever breach it, my Starfleet career would be over immediately and you would have to arrest myself and her. This is what you will have to put up with.” he said. His deep pleasant baritone never wavered, but there was a world of emotion in his dark dark eyes.
