“I haven’t seen Engineering yet, I’d love to see how fast this lass can go if you’ll permit me?” Kyle grinned.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Security Officer-

“Engineering is a part of regular rounds I would imagine, so I don’t see why not,” she said with a grin as they reached the lift and stepped in. “Main engineering.”

The lift carried them through the ship to Deck Eleven, now officially on the Secondary hull side of the ship. Dira led Anders through to the main entrance and into a large space. “It’s not your typical engineering space. We’ve got a horizontal core, so it’s not the first thing you see, but it’s viewable through the floor in front of the main console.”

“A bit like those through the floor aquariums you used to get on Earth, where the fish were swimming under you?” It took a few seconds for Kyle to take in all of the mammoth Engineering room before him, he couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer sight of a horizontal warp core at his feet.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Security Officer-

“I… wouldn’t know,” Dira said with a laugh. “But why don’t you look about. I would shy away from touching anything. Engineers can get understandably irritated when people go messing with their stuff.”

“Of course,” Kyle chuckled awkwardly, “I suppose you must not have visited Earth much.” Anders crossed his arms behind his back and started strolling around the room, offering a friendly nod to the Engineers milling about from corner to corner, though Kyle had to admit that the crew in Engineering looked a bit more stressed than they’d have liked to admit.

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Security Officer-

She shook her head. “Not since my residency. And even then I was so busy I didn’t get a chance to do a lot of exploring. It was just after the war,” she said idly as she took in the space with a thoughtful expression. “People like me were very busy i the aftermath.”

Kyle stopped glancing at consoles and whirled on his feet at this, “Did you serve in the war?”

-Lieutenant Kyle Anders: Security Officer-

Dira bobbed her head back and forth. “A little. I was an intern on Earth at Starfleet Medical during the last year and into the following year. And then I was doing my residency doing post-war trauma counselling. I was part of a mobile psychiatric team. We dealt with crews who were struggling as a whole, active duty personnel whose families were struggling with the changes in loved ones. Veterans unable to adjust to civilian life again. There were a lot of physical wounds from those years of conflict, but a great deal more psychological. But I will say that I was present on Earth, in San Francisco during the Breen attack. Anyone with med skills pitched in. It was… brutal, to say the least.”
