Achilleas was startled by the question as a hint of guilt flashed across his visage. “I think I’m sleeping enough.” He said slowly in a way to let his thoughts catch up with the conversation.

CSO Petrakos

“Uh huh,” she said, clearly unconvinced. “Define enough…” It was amazing how shorting yourself a little bit on a daily basis for a period of time could have an adverse affect on your mental state and she’d rather err on the side of caution and intervene now before it started to effect other areas.

Commander Myqian, XO

“Um… about two hours a night, for the most part.” Achilleas said a little quieter as he realized that being truthful was certainly the best approach but he still felt like he got caught out on doing something ‘bad’. “Some nights are better when Riani stays over or I stay over with her. Those instances have been pretty infrequent though.”

CSO Petrakos

Dira nodded. “Since you came asking advice, I’m going to offer you both some personal and professional advice. And it’s going to sound like really simple stuff, but it matters more than most people think,” she said before gathering her thoughts.

“You need more sleep than that. You know that. It’s one thing if we’re in a crisis and sleep has to be put to the side for a bit, but we’re not in a crisis right now, Achilleas. In fact, right now, despite the busyness of people boarding and checking in, now is the time to set yourself up with patterns that will serve you later.” She began listing things off and lifting a finger each time from her closed fist. “Sleep, good food at regular times, exercise, downtime that is not work related, and… the big one for someone in charge of others… delegation of work. You don’t have to do it all yourself, so please don’t. You want to be a good department head? *Train * others to do your job. Let them take up some of that burden.” Her dark eyes took on a sparkle. “And then lo and behold I bet you’ll also know them as people better than before and you’ll know their why. And when you know someone’s why, you can motivate them more easily. Magic,” she said with a wink.
