Kane made his way from the lab towards Alexis’s quarters. He tapped his comms and said =/\= Kane to XO. Meet me at her quarters right away. =/\= They only had one her in common, so it wasn’t a stretch.

=/\=On my way,=/\= Myqian responded, her voice even.

A few moments later, he stopped a few doors down from Bonner’s quarters and waited.

Kane, R&D

When she arrived a few minutes later, Dira just looked at Kane inquisitively. She didn’t say anything but her expression said ‘You called’. It sounded urgent, so she had excused herself from where she had been and made her way over immediately.

Commander Myqian, XO

Keeping his voice low, he said “Bonner found a PaDD in her room. Problem is, it isn’t hers. And its active, not on standby… even though she hasn’t been in her room in over a day.” He lifted the bag and pulled out the cage. “Built a Faraday cage. Should block anything going on till we can analyze it. But I figured after our little chat you’d want the evidentiary chain of custody intact. So I’m being a good boy and calling you first.” and he panted like a dog for a moment before glaring.

Kane, R&D (And kind of a jerk)

Her ebony eyes gazed at him hard for a long few moments and then she reached out to take the bag. “Evidence is transferred. I’ll log it separately from the system for the time being. Thank you for letting me know,” she said matter-of-factly before her expression softened. “How is Alexis?”

He shook his head and said “Uh… the PaDD is in her room. Thats what I built to contain it. I’m not gonna touch it till you have a look, too.”

Kane, R&D

“Have you scanned for prints, DNA, anything like that?” Dira said flatly. The problem with not being able to just call security was that things ended up being sloppy. She really needed Zoi in all this.

Kane glared at her and said “What part of ‘I called you first’ did you not understand? I. Haven’t. Touched. It. In any way or fashion. Now, knowing Bonner’s predilection for collecting PaDDs, I am guessing its some kind of surveillance device; but at this point? Hell, it could be a bomb for all l I know. No matter what it is, it’s a problem.”

“Which is exactly why you call Security,” Myqian all but hissed. “You call me and you call Security. I’m not a bomb squad, Lieutenant. This is why we need a joint effort, but nooooo, can’t have that, now can we?” she grumbled. It wasn’t like she walked around with her own tricorder, but she knew every single health practitioner on this had a medkit stowed away in case of emergency. A medical tricorder might not tell them everything but it would tell them something.

“How long ago at the earliest could it have bene placed in Bonner’s Quarters?” Dira said flatly.
