“I’m glad we’re in agreement,” Dira said, actually rather sincerely too. She set the glass to the side and had to blink. It really was strong stuff. She’d only had, what, one measure? Then again, she rarely drank very heavily. There was a part of her though that wanted to tip the entire thing down her throat now that the emotions she had had such good control over were more loose than they should be. “What is that anyway?” she murmured.

About that time the door opened, Frigga practically herding Alexis into the room. Alexis paused catching the tail end of Solomon’s voice, and her focus returned the room in front of her rather than the manic chaos that was currently her head space. She took in his expression, his body language, the certain way he didn’t shift that said his back was bothering him, but he was too angry to allow it to show. Her gaze fell over Myqian....they were talking about her. Her stomach churned and knotted, and she knew she was about to be sick. Her throat ached as she tried to swallow. Just like on the Hathaway, everyone knew and everyone was talking about it. She didn’t look at either of them. “He won’t go away, he thinks he’s smarter than you. If he is or not doesn’t matter, he takes what he wants and does whatever he wants to get it.” She turned walking back out the door. She had no idea where she was going....

Dira was on feet a split second later, but dizziness washed over her. She wanted to hurry after Alexis but she was clearly in no condition to. “You go,” she said to Kane. He would anyway and better there wasn’t a scene in the corridor.

Kane moved quickly and went to Alexis. “Alexis, come back. We weren’t talking about you… well we were, but not like that… we were waiting for you and talking about what to do. Come back, okay?”

Alexis turned back around and a moment of stubbornness that was rarely seen outside the lab surfaced. “No you weren’t. Waiting for me anyway. You knew I went to the lab this morning. She already talked to me there, and she knew I left the lab. She didn’t tell you that though did she? She wanted to discuss what to do with my life. Just another pawn in someone else’s game. I even told the Cmdr I don’t want to play his games, or anyone’s games. She said I am no one’s pawn, but that’s all I am. She even said we’d change the rules of the game. But it’s still a game, and I’m still her pawn, Solomon.” She shook her head and walked back into his quarters with him. She glanced at the XO, “You want a way to stop him, but you can’t. But while you two have been busy trying to figure out what his problem is… you’re focusing on the wrong…” She shook her head looking the Cmdr over. She reached into a bag pulling out a medkit, she swapped out the vial and stared hard at her and then dialed it and set it in front of her. “Alcohol inhibitor. Take it or not, but it will get rid of the effects of what you’ve been drinking.” One of the projects she’d worked on for while she was away.

Dark eyes affixed on Alexis, Dira did yet another thing that was unusual for her: she took something without question. She had a medical degree- she knew how to inject a hypo properly. Med school 101. The hiss was strangely reassuring as if it might clear away the rest of the emotional distress she had been feeling. Time to find some boxes to put them in until they could be processed later. She didn’t need to say anything to Alexis, but the acceptance of the hypo was probably enough.

When she finally felt clear-headed enough to speak, Myqian exhaled slowly. “I did tell him I went to see you. What I hadn’t told him yet was that you walked out on me when you got angry. Whether you’re ready to admit it or not Alexis, you’re feeling things and I had a hunch that Lieutenant Kane would need to be ready for that. And the part of the conversation you missed was the part where I just explained that Intelligence was involved in the death of my fiancee and that I’ve had, may I add pretty recent, experience with someone obsessed with me to the point where I couldn’t function. This isn’t just about you Alexis. Or Soulis. We’ve had a massive security breach on this ship plus the guarantee it’ll happen again. So I might be handling this all wrong, but we’re all doing our best to muddle our way through. I would have loved for you to have been with us for the entire conversation but you ran away. But if you want to take control of this situation, if we all want to see this end in a way other than disaster, then you can’t run away again. I couldn’t before, and you can’t now.” Okay, maybe the emotional boxes weren’t working so well today.
