Preem arrived in Cargo Bay 3 with her assistants in tow quickly they began to start unpacking crates and setting up makeup stations, hair stations, various other prep areas and… a snack table. It seemed that Golfink for all of his many many flaws was not so cruel as to starve his actors, or perhaps his assistant was just more forward thinking, but every manner of finger food was available.Within a matter of hours the cargo bay was transformed into a waiting area on one side and an interview area on the next.

As so often in recent days, Aizala was heading towards the Arboretum right after her shift in Sickbay was over. The first time she had set foot into that beautiful space, she had felt a little uncomfortable. But she had also liked the Arboretum almost instantly. So she had returned and by now found it to be one of her favourite spots on the ship. One she visited at least a few times every week. On her way there she passed Cargo Bay 3. She had heard about the film crew, but so far hadn’t had any contact with any of them. Something she was grateful for as she wasn’t certain how she felt about the idea of being filmed and maybe even interviewed.

Compared to other parts of the ship, the cargo bay was relatively mundane with the camera crew just milling about doing what they needed to do, the air filled with the smell of tasty treats and make up, hair spray, and other chemicals. Seeing Tija pause at the door, Preem approached the woman with her arms folded across her chest clutching a PaDD tightly. “Hello,” she said gently in a calm tone. “I am Preem. Are you here for an interview?” She looked down at her PaDD and the list of names before looking up and motioning to the table, “Even if you aren’t, have a muffin or danish. “

Aizala shook her head, making her ponytail bounce a little. “No, I’m on my way to the Arboretum, actually,” she replied with a smile. She had been about to decline the food, but then thought it might be rude. So she took a step through the cargo bay door and said, “Thank you. I am Lieutenant Tija Aizala, by the way. It is nice to meet you.” Looking around the room she added, “What is your part in all of this?”

Preem blushed slightly, “I, uh, keep the chaos under control. Mr. Golfink is a very demanding person and sometimes he, uh, says things to people and well…” She reached glanced over towards the snack table, “I guess I translate mostly from what he wants and what he asks for. He is truly a master at his craft, but he…”
Her expression was sympathetic as Aizala listened to Preem, she followed the other woman’s gaze before looking straight at her again.
She waved a hand, “I am rambling. I am Mr. Golfink’s personal assistant and assistant director.”

“It sounds like you have your hands full,” Aizala commented gently, her voice low enough that only Preen would hear her. To her own surprise she suddenly heard herself say, “If you ever need a break and someone to talk to, feel free to stop by my quarters or we can meet in the Arboretum, if you like. Less private, but a beautiful place.”

Her approach was quiet and thus Dira was able to catch poor Preem’s nervous explanation. Having met Golfink, she could sympathize with the woman. She also couldn’t help but smile at Tija’s kind offer. “I second that assessment,” Myqian said with a soft and light tone, the smile still on her face as she came to stand with the pair. “The arboretum is a lovely space. One of many interesting ones on board.”
“I’m Dira Myqian, ship’s first officer,” she said to Preem. “Your boss and I met in the Transporter Room and I figured I’d help out a little by not avoiding this space. Apparently you’re wanting to do interviews?” she asked, shifting her gaze between Preen and Aizala.

“Oh a proper tour would be lovely, though I don’t know when I will have the time. There are so many of you and so little time to do this in,” the woman lamented before motioning towards the makeup stations, “Yes well if you want to be on camera we will apply a little make up just to make your features pop, nothing too altering, and then…” She motioned towards a chair in front of a white cloth, “We just want to capture your thoughts. Tell us a story.”
She motioned to another place that was just a two chairs in a box, “Or if you just want to tell your story without being on camera we can capture just the audio.”

Myqian winked at Aizala, giving the woman time to decide what she wanted to do. “I don’t mind being on camera,” she said, flashing a grin. Dira was a confident woman and at ease in the presence of others, making her probably one of the more ideal members of the crew to film, and probably one of the ones to cause them the least amount of headaches… so long as they played by the rules.
Aizala smiled gratefully at Dira and then took a small step to the side. She wasn’t sure if she wanted to get interviewed. So maybe watching the First Officer’s interview would give her an idea how hers might go and thus help her make a decision based on that.
Dira herself was sociable enough that the prospect of being interviewed in this way didn’t bother her. She moved to the makeup station. “A little on the eyes and lips is fine with me. But don’t worry about the skin. I prefer it bare.” Her Haliian-granted bulges and indentations around her forehead and nose made makeup a little tricky and since she didn’t feel she needed, she never bothered.
Once she was ready, Dira made her way over to one of the chairs.
When prompted, Myqian took a calming breath and smiled softly. “I’m Commander Dira Myqian and I’m the Ogawa’s first officer. But this is my first time in the role. Not that long ago I was actually a practicing psychiatrist and I have been for twenty years.” She paused and lifted a hand, turning her index fingers, looking amused. “Had been, technically. I’m still licensed though I’m not longer practicing. Command is my career path now and it’s quite exciting to get to do so on such a magnificent ship with a very obviously talented crew.”
Commander Myqian, XO
While Dira was getting ready, Aizala had moved slightly further into the cargo bay till she found a place where she was out of the way, but could see and hear what was going on.
