Octavia shrugged, “I’m not sure really its a little daunting to think about what I want to set my entire lifes work too but I think I’m leaning towards Immunology, I kind of like Virology aswell and they do overlap in some places but right now I’m just trying to find the new normal for my life, its all pretty exhausting but I’m getting there, things take time or so my counsellor tells me.” He smiled, “Sorry i’m rambling, What about you, do you have a specialisation?”

“No need to apologise,” Aizala answered sincerely. “Both of those fields are very interesting and you still have a lot of time to figure out who you are and what you’d like to do,” she continued encouragingly before falling silent for a moment as they left the Arboretum and entered the corridor. Finally she said, “It’s a little complicated. The first medical training I ever received was in what you might call alternative medicine: herbes and other natural remedies. At the Academy I then specialised in emergency medicine and trauma surgery. But-” She hesitated for a moment and then said, “I’m going to switch specialisations. Part of my own recovery.”

Octavia was simply curious about why the Doctor felt the need to change specialisation but decided not to ask as much. “Perhaps a different specialization will be good then, I mean were all doctors… Well maybe not me 8yet* but I figure as long as I am helping people either by developing the newest vaccination or patching up a cut I am happy. I think it helps that Goven was the same except he was an engineer, engineering and medial are scarily similar.”

“I hope so,” Aizala replied with a small, slightly sad smile. “I haven’t been off duty long and I did help during the the recent situation on the Starbase, but I already miss being on duty. I’ve helped treat people and then treated them myself for the majority of my life. Not being allowed to do that right now feels … unsettling. And I don’t like not knowing when I’ll be allowed to return to duty. Even in limited capacity,” she admitted and then sighed. “But I also know that I can’t help anyone right now and that I might put people in danger if I have another panic attack. So I’m trying to be patient.”

Octavia gave her a small smile, “Atleast you know that what you’re doing is for the greater good your own physical and mental health ultimately has to come first its that age-old question ‘Who treats the doctor?’ If you know you ever feel like you want to do something that’s helping others I’m looking for people to teach me their fields, no risk involved and you might feel like you’re doing something.”

Turning her head, Aizala looked at Octavia, the smile on her face a little wider and less sad. “I always enjoyed teaching. My last posting was actually on one of the Academy vessels. The USS Challenger,” she replied as the walked through the doors of the Lounge. Looking around she quickly spotted an empty table close to the windows and started to lead their way over there. “So I’d be more than happy to teach you anything you’d like to learn.”

“That would be amazing!” Octavia said a little too happily, she didn’t sit down right away, “Would you like something to drink or eat maybe? I dont mind getting it for you I’m fancying something myself” Octavia scratched her chin wondering what she would eat perhaps an apple strudel with chocolate milk then she remembered her company and thought about getting something a little more grown up.

“Yes please,” Aizala replied with a soft smile and then pondered for a moment. “I’d like a small Caesar’s salad, a small bowl of mousse au chocolate with vanilla sauce and a cup of herbal tea. The one that is saved in the database as Tija 8. Thank you,” said as she slipped onto one of the chairs.
