Willow stood and moving to the replicator organised two mugs of chamomile tea which she then returned with and set one in front of Aizala. “Then stop. You shouldn’t.” she said. “We all think less of ourselves from time to time but we aren’t a good judge of our actions sometimes. Good or bad.”Willow Taylor
COReaching for the cup, Aizala wrapped her hands around it. It was only than that she realised how cold her hands were. Lifting the cup close to her nose, she inhaled deeply, her eyes closed and admitted in a soft whisper, “I don’t know how. And…” She suddenly hesitated and instead took a sip of the hot tea. Looking up at Willow again, she continued, “I understand why I’m on medical leave and why I can’t be on active duty. I’m currently a liability. At the same time I know that not being allowed to work at least in some way … it’ll drive me crazy. Maybe something that will help me figure out where to go from here. It was suggested to me that I might want to reconsider my field of expertise as I went into it because of my sister.” All of a sudden she noticed that tears were running down her cheeks. She quickly turned her head, hoping that Willow hadn’t noticed.

Willow considered. Slowly she let out a breath and said thoughtfully. “Well, if you are interested in another speciality then I guess the Ogawa would be a good place to take on a fellowship.” she smiled and gave the woman a moment to compose herself. “If you would like to so that we can see what Star fleet command says and organise something.”

COFor several moments Aizala remained silent, thinking about what the Captain had suggestion while also doing her best to get a grip on herself again. Brushing the tears away, she finally looked up and met Willow’s gaze. “I’m sorry Captain for breaking down like this,” she replied, her voice still trembling a little. “I like that suggestion and I think it would be good for me to go into another field. I’m just not entirely sure in which field.” After hesitating for a brief moment, she did something she had rarely done in her life. Asking for help. “Maybe you could suggest something for me? Or help me go through options?” she asked softly.

Willow smiled. “Im sure we can find something you could enjoy working in.” she moved to look at the computer and the doctors file to see what areas her specialities lay in. “Do you have any burning things you always wanted to try?”
Willow Taylor
COFor several moments Aizala pondered that question in silence. Eventually she shook her head, looking a little disheartened. “I’m not sure. I went into medicine because I want to help people and because of my sister’s I chose my speciality. I never even thought of anything else.” With her lips pressed to together and her brow furrowed, she looked at Willow. After another moment of silent contemplation, she continued, “It would probably be good for me do switch into a field with less of a direct focus on emergencies. I know, of course, that those will always be part of our lives as doctors. Especially on a starship. But I imagine on a hospital ship like the Ogawa it might be a little easier?”

“Certainly.” willow agreed as she considered. “Perhaps it would be best if we have you meet Doctor Walker, our chief of staff and he could help you decide?” she asked.

Aizala nodded thoughtfully. She knew it was a good idea and she knew that there was nothing wrong about asking someone else for help. Yet outside of medical situations where another person’s health depended on it, she never felt comfortable asking for help. But maybe this was her way of starting to learn to do exactly that. So after a moment of hesitation, she agreed, “You are probably right. I should introduce myself to him anyway. I’ll see about asking him then.”
