Alexis started to send several things to the main display but considering his apparent need for privacy she sent it to the nearby console and went over and studied the information for several long moments. Korak could probably see her mind working, or as her mother used to say, she could see the smoke coming out of her ears while she studied his scans. “These genetic manipulations…are they simply because of the Klingon Genetic Drift, something we would take regular scans of to monitor, or were they done on purpose and made to look that way? I mean I could study it and tell you, but for expedience sake.”

“Which ones would you want upgrades for?” Alexis is serious. Sometimes things like this were a cultural thing, even small subcultures. “As long as it doesn’t put your life in danger I could do it.” She’s confident in that. There isn’t a medical topic Alexis can’t master and she’s more than willing given the time to make sure she does it right.

She walks back over and picks up one of his hands, examining the glands under his nails. “Do you still want these? I would imagine it might be hazardous to anyone who goes looking for spiritual guidance if you scratched them by accident.”

She spent several minutes studying the modifications made to his brain. It was fascinating. The ability to choose where information is stored in the brain and restrict that access. She might have to ask him to come back for that one. IF she decided to work on Ever’s little project. She wanted to warn him that if he told Ever, his DH, about that modification he might get roped into was it her place to create friction between an officer and his department head? Probably not.

“Some is typical genetic drift, most are deliberate. I believe the term used by a member of starfleet medical was “to build a Klingon’s Klingon” seems an apt description.
These modifications were done in an era were scanners were not as efferent, they were designed to pass cursory medical examination, but that was over a century ago, and medical technology has evolved.” The Klingon chuckled.”As for the sub-unguis glands, unless they are externally charged they are perfectly safe. They must be flushed after use to neutralize them, but they haven’t been used for decades. in fact all kidding aside, the modifications are all holdovers from another life, Doctor. That Klingon is mostly gone, what is left is an aging Guardian.”

Alexis nodded. She made not to have a solution on hand should he need to flush them. She wouldn’t ask why he needed to, but she’d have it all the same. “Are there any modifications that give you problems? Something we should address or that you’d like removed? Or are you doing well with them?” A Klingon’s Klingon? That idea played around in her head. Klingons were impressive, imposing, dangerous, and a strong sense of duty and honor that Alexis found fascinating and charming, in a dangerous sort of way. How exactly did a regular Klingon compare to a Klingon’s Klingon?

“Klingon medicine may have been allowed to stall over the last few centuries Doctor, but certain sects are really quiet good at these kinds of modifications. I have lived with them a very long time.”

“Klingon medicine is very good. But that doesn’t mean that you wouldn’t want some things changed or removed. And time, no matter how good the medicine, can wear on all things. So you let me know if something changes.”

She shook those thoughts aside and turned back to Korak, “Any questions or concerns you have about your basic health?”

“I am curious as to what an old Klingon might expect from Federation medicine, Doctor.” Reaching up and stroking his forehead ridges. “And lest I forget, I will need you to adjust my ridges on occasion , They tend to grow into horns if lefty their own devices.”

OOC: Forgot a couple things

“I attended a conference once and there was a Klingon doctor there giving a talk on genetics. Absolutely brilliant. A Dr. Valatra. The woman had brilliant ideas about genetics. I would have to say that as far as standard medical care goes that Federation medicine is on par with what you are used to as well as emergency medicine. Federation knowledge of Klingon physiology has grown a lot in the last 5 decades so that has improved. But the Klingon Medical Authority is far advanced from us in their understanding of genetics and evolutionary impact on physiology.”

At his last comment Alexis giggled, “No I don’t think it would be good for the local clergy to have horns like the Terran Devil.” She made a note in his file that he needed that done regularly. “Do you want them taken care of now or are you good for awhile?”

“No Doctor I don’t imagine that would,” grinning, Kovak exposing pronounced canine feathers, unusual for a Klingon. “ The horn buds were removed on Terra after ai received my orders, but they have historically regenerated so I imagine it will be part of my routine quarterly physical. I do need a prescription for my supplement however.”

Again Alexis made note to maintain his ‘horns’ quarterly. She scanned him again and then double checking the database she determined how bad his Arsenic deficiency was. “Would you prefer it as an additive to your tea or a hypo? I can do either.”

After getting his answer she prepared his supplement and a note in his file for a prescription so that if any questions were asked it would be on file. “I’m sure you know this, but I’m obligated to tell you to keep this supplement under lock and key. Several species can be killed by it. I can provide you with a locking medical box if you need one.” She thought it was absurd that she tell him that but she had to. Medical ethics and all that. “Well other than that deficiency…Wait, I have a question. If you’ve had all these modifications done why didn’t you have that fixed as well?”
