Having been directed to the stations secondary med bay, Korak presented himself to the receptionist. “Lieutenant Korak for a boarding physical.” Looking around he was surprised to see the facility fully staffed. After receiving word that the replacement ship had not yet arrived, he had expected worse.
Korak

NE Stanton walked over, “Yes Lt Korak, right this way. I’ll get Dr Bonner for you. Just pick a biobed.”

Stanton walked into the office, “Dr. Bonner. There’s a new officer here for his onboarding.” Alexis nodded. At least it wouldn’t be Ever again....Oh God it wasn’t Soulis was it? No…no no no he woulnd’t be joining Ogawa. She just had to keep telling herself that. This was her sickbay, she had to remember that. She grabbed her lab coat and walked out into the main bay. Seeing the Klingon clergyman made her grin. “Ah Lt. Korak we meet again.”

She walked over opening the tricorder and pulling out the small scanner. “May I?”
Lt. Bonner, AMO

“You may” His was a long lived race, despite their violent nature and tabo against medical treatment. Korak couldn’t belt wondering just how long he might live now as a member of the Federation.

As all Klingons his body was crisscrossed with healed wounds. His scans revealed extensive surgical modification as well. A small axilery stomach and some kind of neurological modifications along with major modifications to the sub-dermal platting it had been expanded to resemble that of an Andorian.
Other than a markedly low levels of Arsenic in his blood. He is in excellent health.
Much of this doesn’t appear in his medical records.
Lt Korak, Chaplain

Alexis raised a brow at several items appearing on his scan and the little red warnings showing it wasn’t in his file. “Um, Lt. we are going to have to spend some time together. You’re records are not complete with what my scans are showing.” Okay maybe Cmdr Walker should have taken this case. “The most desterbing is you have arsenic in your system. My knowledge of Klingons might be off, but poison is a very dishonorable weapon, is it not? I know some species naturally have resistance to poisons are actually require them, but I don’t remember reading that in any of my research.”
Lt Bonner, AMO

Booming laugh varied across the bay, “Arsenic is actually a nessisary mineral in Klingon physiology Doctor, in fact mine is usualy low and I have a prescribed supplement. Do not drink tea with me in the morning.” His humor was still evident.” As to the unusual body modifications, you will have to contact some one in the command staff or your S2 Chief. For need to know clearance. Otherwise you will just have to except that your scans are wrong, Doctor.”
Korak

Yep yep yep, Cmdr Walker should take this one. But the force of nature doctor in her jsu couldn’t ignore it. “I can’t do that. What if I had to operate on you or there are chemicals that would negatively cause problems? I don’t need to know why, but I do need to know what, and maybe how.” And now she was totally engrossed in the actual work not caring at all about why he did it or clearance levels. “Lay down Lt I need to take scans.” If need be she could lock the file and remove it from the main computer and put it on an iso chip. Dr/patient covered her own knowledge, but there would be a record, and that all processed in the back of her mind. The ‘modifications’ were fascinating to her.
Lt Bonner, AMO

“That is half the reason I am here, Doctor. My published records my be redacted but you and your staff need to know what your dealing with. I can not address who, why, when, or even how but I can answer what was done to my body. Would that be sufficient? Korak was amused, the physical at the recruiting station once he reached Terra had been much the same.

Korak

Alexis fluttered a hand at him reading the scans, absolutely fascinated. “Yes yes I wouldn’t understand it anyway. But the how it was put in and the when is important. Especially if any of it has an expiration date. The why…well maybe. Like if you have an artificial heart, why? Was it a medical issue or something I don’t need to know.” She said absently. “Oh and how it works in relation to your physiology.” She looks up, “Oh you can begin any time Lt. You talk, I’ll scan and add notes as needed.” She looked back at the tricorder, continuing her scans.
Lt. Bonner, AMO

“Other than a few cases of congenital defect it is current Klingon custom to allow one to either heal on ones own or die, Doctor. Non of my body modifications are of that sort, they are…elective. I do not believe they have expiration dates but some are outmoded now. I would not be opposed to a few upgrades” Korak teased. His genetic profile showed some modification as well mostly genetic surgery and The Genetic drift his species was known for. Some in Federation Medical refers to them as ‘Space Orcs’ do to their ability to cross breed with out medical intervention and their fast evolution to fit colonial environments.

His brow ridges had been recently modified, indications were that they may still be actively growing, the hone like protrusions at most of his joints, such as knees, elbows, knuckles and such were at the extreme end of species norm. Under his nails were small glandular structures, to be seen. He was buy no means a ‘super Klingon’ but evidence was present that some of the structures that made so them survivable had been subtly, and in some cases not so subtly enhanced. Other modifications were more purposeful.

“ I am sure that you have seen the improvements to my subdural plating. Tho normal for my kind, mine have grown some what.” Buried in his genetic structures were other anomalies that seem to be original as well. “Ask and I will answer to the best of my ability. Doctor.”

Korak

Alexis started to send several things to the main display but considering his apparent need for privacy she sent it to the nearby console and went over and studied the information for several long moments. Korak could probably see her mind working, or as her mother used to say, she could see the smoke coming out of her ears while she studied his scans. “These genetic manipulations…are they simply because of the Klingon Genetic Drift, something we would take regular scans of to monitor, or were they done on purpose and made to look that way? I mean I could study it and tell you, but for expedience sake.”

“Which ones would you want upgrades for?” Alexis is serious. Sometimes things like this were a cultural thing, even small subcultures. “As long as it doesn’t put your life in danger I could do it.” She’s confident in that. There isn’t a medical topic Alexis can’t master and she’s more than willing given the time to make sure she does it right.

She walks back over and picks up one of his hands, examining the glands under his nails. “Do you still want these? I would imagine it might be hazardous to anyone who goes looking for spiritual guidance if you scratched them by accident.”

She spent several minutes studying the modifications made to his brain. It was fascinating. The ability to choose where information is stored in the brain and restrict that access. She might have to ask him to come back for that one. IF she decided to work on Ever’s little project. She wanted to warn him that if he told Ever, his DH, about that modification he might get roped into was it her place to create friction between an officer and his department head? Probably not.
