The more Walker talked the wider Alexis’ eyes got. illegal experimentation, prison? How did the man have a license after that. “What kind of counselor would approve him to work with people? Did they alter is memory? But in some kind of positronic system to control his morals and ethics? Does the crew know this? I mean they should know if a doctor isn’t fit to see them?” Alexis was young, and her moral compass wasn’t happy with this, but then the logistics kicked in. “So his duty shift needs to be carefully scheduled. Is there anyone I should or should not put him with? Maybe it would be better to put him on my shift. I’m assuming he’s not allowed access to the labs either?” And this would be the first time she’s actually been faced with the fact that the brass isn’t as competent as the Academy would have you believe.

“Keep him away from Dr. Marshall whenever possible. Which is problematic, because Jarvis is also a surgeon and Dr. Marshall is our Head of Surgery,” Brad said. “I had to dress them both down in my office a few months back because they couldn’t stop needling each other. As far as how Jarvis still has his license, and how he conned Commander Pope into certifying him for service, I have no idea. There are parts of his file I can’t even access. He is allowed in the labs, again, under supervision. I actually had to have him in a Medlab with me our last mission to do a heart replacement. Terrifying inclinations, but technically perfect.”

He gave a small shudder as he remembered Jarvis’ request to preserve Ens. Hart’s shredded heart in formaldehyde, of all things. “I’ve mostly had him doing busywork. He’s only seen patients when I had no other options available.”

“So supervised busy work.” Alexis nodded and then made note on her PaDD to keep Marshall and Jarvis away from each other. Alexis was a brilliant doctor and very methodical. She could keep a team focused in order to care for a patient. This though, made her feel very unsure. This required social skills that she was sadly inept at. She could certainly find work for Jarvis, and she could schedule Jarvis and Marshall separately. She could also make sure Jarvis never worked with a patient, even if that mean extra work for herself. But she had a feeling it wasn’t going to be that easy. Alexis wondered if there were any research papers she could read on the subject. Walker would notice the hesitation and doubt that briefly crossed her face. “Well, nothing to do but jump right in I guess.” She was sure she would have plenty of questions for Cmdr. Walker about being in charge of the staff, but right now she couldn’t think of any. Alexis usually just dove into whatever she was doing and learned as she went. Unless there was research on the subject, then she jumped in after reading it all.

“That’s the spirit. If you need something, feel free to comm or drop by. If it’s something particularly complicated, I respond well to bribes of Jamaican coffee and baked goods with blueberries in them,” Brad said with a smile.

“I will, think you Cmdr.” Alexis stood up and after being dismissed headed out to find the head of the SB med bay to find out where they would be working. She also made note that Walker liked Jamaican coffee and blueberry baked goods. That way she wouldn’t forget. Not that she was going to forget, but social details didn’t tend to be considered important in her mind, so she made note of it anyway.
