Kyren gave a little bit of a glare to the doctor, and his brusque manner, but managed to settle for only a slightly huffy exhale as the only real outward sign that she was annoyed. Nobody likes these routine checkups, patients or doctors, but he could at least pretend I’m not ruining his day, not my fault orders are orders she groused to herself. A medical ship. Fun. I sure hope the snipes are friendlier.

Drake closed the tricorder. “Alright. Everything looks ok. One thing was on the high end of normal. Probably just means you’re anxious about boarding. Or you have grown to dislike me. Or both. I’m gonna bet both. I don’t blame you. Any questions, anything you want checked before I write you up as healthy?”

Kyren cocked her head at a bit of an angle. “I feel fine, Doctor.” I’m not entirely sure that you feel alright, however. * She hesitated, something seeming to be on the tip of her tongue, and a look of uncertainty in her eyes, before she settled on, “I guess I’m just anxious to get to work.” Liar*, she chided herself for not having the courage to pry further. Just didn’t feel like it was her place, as a Boot Ensign.

He paused for a second as though waiting for her to finish the thought. He figured she was just uncomfortable around him and didn’t want to say. A lot of people seemed to be feeling like they needed distance from Drake lately. He picked up his PaDD. “Engineer Ensign Athravia Zh’rkyren. Medical report: boarding exam, USS Ogawa. All vitals within normal ranges. No signs of infection or disease. No signs of recent or improperly healed trauma. Final conclusion: fit for duty. Signature: Drake Marshall, M.D.” He put down the PaDD. “Okay. As far a Starfleet is concerned, you are good to go. Word is we’re getting a new Chief. Or something like that. I think he’s new. Maybe someone they promoted. You two play nice. Try and keep the lights on around here.”
