Ooc: Its eye brow … damn hard to type on phone. Anyways the rifle shot can miss in any direction by up to 10cm. It might even hit where it should. Impossible to predict.

But an expert would quickly figure out, it was gun’s fault.

Miha

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“It’s always the guns fault for the bad score!” Stone commented almost with a growl when she took the rifle. At the locker she switched the rifles. She gave her the second one with a smile though.
“Your correct this time. Try again with this one.”

Casela smirked, “I like you Lt.” She took the rifle, flipped the safety and brought it up to aim. She took the time to aim, taking a breath and letting it out to steady and aim. She fired each shot, she was an okay shot at distance, but not nearly as good as close up. She didn’t miss any, but her aim was not nearly as accurate. “Always had a problem with this one. I’m just not as good with it. A sharp shooter I will never be.”

“It’s not bad.” Stone commented. She could never be a sharpshooter as well with the shaky hands she occasionally had. She might hit 5 shots dead on, but completely miss target on 6th shot. Or miss first five then finally land the 6th one. Luckily so far it never came between her and her job, but who knows, one day it might.

As she reset the targets she said “I know the missions planed for these ship won’t be easy. If the departments don’t work together.... we won’t last very long. I for one don’t have a problem with anyone. As for how i got here.. It was recommended to me by my last CO. I probably don’t need to tell you he didn’t like me too much. Still I accepted as it seemed a better job then what I had. “

Lt. Andrea Stone, Cos

Casela nodded, “I’m glad to hear that Lt. so far you are the only DH that doesn’t seem to have a problem with all the different agencies on this ship being together. A necessary side affect of the nautre of the mission of this ship.” She thinks about it, “Most of us got sent here because someone didn’t like us. I think perhaps they will all be in for a rude awakening.” She wondered if the Lt would be interested in having her security do some training with the RTF teams. She made a note to ask later. “What do you think of our facilities so far? Has the refit finished with your department yet, or are you still waiting for anything? I’m trying to compile a list to give the captain so we can have it ready when we return to star base.” One of her comments caught her attention, “Lt. you must have been in an awful spot if this crazy mission and Levi are an improvement. Can I ask? or is it one of those things that is no one’s business but yours?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“I don’t mind talking about my past job. I was first assigned to the USS Cernov and from Ensign to position of COS there was always plenty to do, interesting missions. Good crew as well. When I was reassigned to Starbase 227 it.. well it was hardly a challenge. The base served more as a traders hub. There wasn’t much to do other then regular patrols, and occasional brawl prevention. The position on Leviathan seemed like a god’s send. Of course my last CO forgot to mention just how dangerous it might get. But I don’t often back down from a challenge.

You’ll have plenty of challenges here, would be my guess. I think a lot of people forgot to mention how dangerous it will be.”

The ship so far looks great. It’s definitely much bigger then Chernov. I think the SEC is covered. We have what we need. Maybe only deck 13 could use some more improvements and fail safes. But I talked with Hampton, and he claims he’s working on boosting the force fields there and more.”

“Lt. Hampton is Brilliant. He could single handed take over the entire engineering of the entire fleet and never faulter. He is scary talented in creating new weapons and you will always know where you stand with him. He’s a good man to have on your side.” And a scary one if he doesn’t like you, Casela thought to herself.

She scratched her chin. “I probably don’t have any problem with RTF as I didn’t have to work with them before. My primary concern is the safety of the ship. I know their job is to bring more or less dangerous anomalies into the ship, so not too thrilled about that, but I know someone has to do it. But if it’s anomaly or a crew member’s life to chose from, I won’t hesitate to act if I think it’s needed, even if it pisses RTF research.

She felt she needed to be honest. If her opinion is a problem, they can as well replace her now.

Lt. Andrea Stone. COS

Casela nodded, “You should talk to M Cpt Manhattan. He really wants to make things work smoothly, he sees the bigger picture. And as for RTF, I can say, as I’ve been bilaterally assigned, is to capture and contain. ARU is who likes to experiment. But I don’t think you’ll find Cobb or Raauhl in opposition to your perspective.” Casela paused for a moment. “What’s the one thing you can not tolerate in others, and then tell me the same thing about yourself.”

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Andrea had to think… she wasn’t quite ready for these kind of questions and generally hated them. Shrinks would ask for her favorite color, then wouldn’t be satisfied at the reason. Because it’s pretty, what more reason do you need She thought.

“Well I try my best to be on good terms with everyone. Be it higher or lower ranking. I have the most problems with those with big ego’s I guess. Love to see them with their tail between the legs, after they get beaten… by a woman no less. I think I came to terms of who I am as well. Of course I worry still that my past might get a bit too known and someone simply decided… the job’s too hard for her. I worked quite damn hard to get to WHERE I AM.” She realised she has been raising her voice more and more and she almost started to shout. Quickly she calmed down though. “I know what I’m capable of, and the moment I know I can’d do my job any more with required precision.. I’ll quit myself.”

Casela listened and nodded, “Been there, Lt. I get it. However, so far, I haven’t met anyone on the command staff who would make a judgement of anyone based on their gender. And, if you haven’t heard yet, you will, I have no respect at all for rank. So I’ve been known to make some senior officers run with their tail tucked.” Casela liked the security chief. She was tough, knew it, and had no problem proving it. She grinned.

That last part was perhaps a little fib. She wasn’t a quitter and if she would have to double or even triple her efforts to remain in position she was in.. she would.

Lt. Andrea Stone, COS

“Now, I don’t think you’d need to quit. I’m sure you could figure out a way to make yourself capable. You don’t strike me as someone to give up. The point of these questions is to make sure you are fit for duty, so bare with me. Your department and you as the head are required to think quickly on your feet and in any situation. So another invasive question: if you saw one of your officers wasn’t capable of doing their job, would you simply dismiss them? You don’t strike me as that type of person, so what would you do?”

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“There are always ways where there is will. If I knew someone wasn’t capable of something.. I would offer my help to better themselves. If it helps, great. If it doesn’t or if they show no effort in bettering themselves, then I’m afraid there’s also the harsh reality of life. We can’t all be captains and lead others in our little spaceships around the universe.

“What if there is more than one way to correct their problem?” Casela asked.

I was advised not to participate in the Academy on multiple occasions by tutors in school. ‘It’s too hard. Life could be much easier and worry free… and so on.’ Luckily i had a few mentors and my parents that were willing to indulge in my wish to see the stars. I joined security, as it was the only course that I could pass. Muscles had more value there then brains. And it’s easier to train them then brains anyways.”

Casela raised a single brow, “Do you really think that? That security is all about brawn and not brain?” Casela wouldn’t have taken Stone for that mentality. Security might use brawn as a tool, but there was so much more that went into their work. And Stone did not strike her as a muscled hulk to intimidate the crew into behaving type. And her little trick with the rifle was enough to convince Casela that she knew how to keep people on their toes using her mind and skills rather than her muscles.

She felt like she shared a bit too much personal information, but the CNS wanted to know what makes this SEC officer tick, so why not.

Casela wasn’t interested in how much Stone did or did not reveal of her personal self. She just wanted to make sure she was fit for duty. So whatever Stone wanted her to know as far as that went was all she was concerned with. If she had other things to discuss they could get to that another day. Unless of course it interfered with Stone doing her duty. “Alright Lt. what’s going to make you successful, on this ship. What do you bring, different from anyone else, to the security team and the senior staff that will make this ship successful, where others were not?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Stone was beginning to get a slight headache. Still as a professional, she hid it well and didn’t make any special expression.

“What I always bring. Hard work, loyalty and that special feeling, that this is a safe ship to be on, because someone’s making sure everything is secured. And I will do everything in my might to keep people on this ship alive and well, even though our primary mission is seeking out danger.” she replied to the point.

These questions were always so similar, that councilors asked. She began to suspect, the next one might be ‘Where do you see yourself in 5 years’.

Lt. Andrea Stone, COS

OOC: Love the interaction, it’s just Stone who hates doctors and councilors. She’s still ok with Casela…

OOC: Oh I GET it. And Casela is so SICK of the questions. She’s doing it cause it’s her job…this time. LOL
IC:
Casela nodded. “All good answer to the typical questions Lt.” She turned and leaned back against the barrier for the firing range. “So let’s drop the typical counselor stuff now. Most of the crew has more than 1 role on this ship, my self included, even if we don’t like it. And we all have our own opinions of each other and most everyone does not get along for one reason or another, even if one of those people want to get along. I think you’ll have your work cut out for you here. There are several rooms on the counseling deck available to unwind, meditation rooms, painting, mandala equipment, if you are into that type of thing. Apparently my staff swears by it.” Casela’s face shows she isn’t so sure, except for maybe the mention of the meditation room. “There are also some very good martial arts programs on the holodeck that can be stress relieving as well. As the ship’s counselor is there anything I can do to help you? Other than giving you a heads up on potential problems.”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Andrea smirked. “I’m glad I still know how to answer these. I guess I’m not just all brawn after all. But it wasn’t hard, I just told you what I feel.”
She gave a nod. “Holodeck sounds nice. I never could meditate in a traditional sense. For me, my morning laps around the ship is all the meditation I need..”

“Useful meditation comes in many forms. If running works for you, by all means continue.” Casela used the meditation room herself, but her most useful meditation came when she was working, alone, in the holodeck.

“I understand there will be frictions and hot blood. There always is. And there’s plenty of room in the Brig, for hotheads to cool off so I’m not worried at all. If you hear about potential trouble, do let me know. It’s good to be prepared.”

Lt. Andrea Stone, COS

“I would ask you to consider something for me, Lt. I’m in charge of tactical training for one of the RTF squads. I would like, eventually, to offer a combined training for both RTF and Security, and anyone else interested. I’m trying to head off the idea that different departments are better than the other. I understand that the objectives of each or different, but I feel that they could learn a lot from each other. I was thinking once every 2 weeks, or maybe once a week. If that is something you think might work for your department. The offer stands.”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTF

“There are regular drills scheduled already. I don’t see why there couldn’t be a joint training as well.” She noded. “Perhaps the rotational schedule would be best. One week we train with RTF and the next one they train with us.”

“Since you offered, how about we join you in a week’s time?” She wanted to give her enough time to prepare.
