(snip)“I’m sure we all know what the legal books say on artificial life.” He waved a stiff hand. “Obviously I aint that.”
“Would you mind a ‘boarding physical’ down in engineering some time Mr. Tock?”
Bog
This time Tock leaned back slightly as the bartender eyed up Bog. “I ‘spose I coulda been damaged in transit. Good idea Mr. Bog!” Tock raised a hand for a high five.
-Tock-
Casela nodded turning around to look at Tock, “Not a bad idea, Tock. We need to make sure you stay healthy. And we’d need a baseline for that.” She glanced at Bog. “I’d be happy to lend a hand. We could get your boarding psych eval done too, Tock.” Because there was something creepy about his personality she’d like to examine.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS
He may be many things but a bigot wasn’t one of them, Bog met the raised hand with his own. “Counselor you might not be what I would consider pretty but your a hell of woman otherwise. I will enjoy working with you this tour.” Turning to the lieutenant he extended his hand.
Casela reached out and shook his hand, “I as well Mr. Bog. You are going to do exceptionally well here. I am looking forward to you keeping the engineering crews on their toes.”
He didn’t care about the law, destroying artificial life or imprisoning genetically modified ones didn’t sit well with him. As far as he was concerned Tock was crew, so was the doctor for that mater.
Bog
Casela knew the laws about artificial life, she’d been drilled in them before using an AARM the first time. Life was life and she didn’t like the idea that the Federation thought they had the right to decide. But…so many factors. The best she could do is to make a judgement on her own each time she was faced with the decision.

Tock’s glare returned to Casela. There was no expression to read however the delay before the words came suggested some kind of puzzlement. “If it would please you counsellor. However, I should be clear, I am a memory storage unit with a veil of personhood present to make myself approachable.”
-Tock-
“Of course Tock, but it would help to know, then if something happens to your program we would know. Just like Mr. Bog here taking a look at your physical/engineering health. But it would be totally up to you, Tock.” If he was simply a memory storage unit he wouldn’t display puzzlement over the request. He would have a protocol for it and would state what it was and then continue with his program. She had a feeling there was much more to Tock than he realized. She glanced at Bog and raised a brow in Tock’s direction.
Bog just shook his head and chuckled. “Careful Tock she will make a real little boy out of you” he agreed there was much more to the clock work man than he let on.
Casela raised a brow, “Mr. Bog I am not a magic fairy, nor am I cute, kind, and caring. I can not wave a magic wand and turn Pinocchio here into a real boy.” She turned to look at Tock. “Besides, Tock, if I could you wouldn’t be yourself anymore, and I think that would be a loss.”
“So Bog, another one to celebrate your lack of escort?”
Downing the dregs of his beer, he sat it down. “ A wonderful idea, dear lady.” Eyeing Tock, another my good man!” Calling him a man was plenty of an insult in Bog’s mind.

Tock simply looked blankly between the comic duo. “Each of you can send me a date and time for when you want to check the vigour of my cogs and the psychology of my processor units respectively.” With that he sunk behind the bar to begin fiddling with some mystic array of bottles.
-Tock-
“I say Bog that we should maybe do both at the same time. No telling how interconnected the systems are.” Casela then watched as Tock disappeared behind the bar and shook her head. He was going to CREEP the captain out. Oh boy. “Have you met the captain yet, Mr. Bog?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS
“I have, he met me when I beamed aboard. I think you may have your hands full there, Counselor. All and all tho he strikes me as a good man.” Watching the bar tender work, “As to Mr. Tock, I think that is a wonderful idea, I imagine you can learn a lot from your patients buy observing them interact with others. And having some one virtually vivisection you might prove stressful enough to illicit some interesting responses.”
Bog
Casela nodded, “He is a good man, and a good captain. I think sometimes he’d still rather be a chief engineer though.” She raises a brow, “He has a quick mind and a way at looking at things differently that will serve the crew well. What about you? Any ambitions other than tinkering with the ships engines?” She looks at Tock as he works under the counter. “I’m almost done with crew onboarding evals, so my schedule can be adjusted at a whim. Let me know when works for the two of you.”Tock’s deep tones rang out from his crouched position. “I am available literally any time I am not serving drinks, my friends.” In the time frame of a blink, Tock had returned to perfect balance stood on his feet. “Speaking of which, any top-ups needed?”
-Tock-
“Ah yes, Tock, but add lime and lemon to mine if you don’t mind,” Casela slides the glass back towards Tock.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS‘’Most certainly, kind sir” Bog slid his glass to the Barman. Mulling over the the counselors words, “ As I am most likely permanently on Hampton’s list, it will have to be before or after shift, unless you request me.” Scratching his beard, That would be best as I imagine Tock comes on shift when we are going off.’’
Bog
Casela shook her head, “We’ll have to do it after hours. Hampton isn’t going to grant any of my requests. He doesn’t exactly appreciate my charm and I am at the top of his list.” Something was going to have to be done about that. She was going to have to force the issue eventually. If Hampton wanted to be paranoid then some paranoia was healthy, but she was going to have to make sure that it didn’t effect his ability to do his job.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS“Wouldn’t suppose you and Doc Fey could order anti psychotics and tranquilizers put in his food? You two do it quiet and I will reprogram the replicators.” Scratching his beard, in thought, “Given the state of this crew perhaps the life support system might be better.”
Bog
“Doc Fey is as honest a doctor as they come. She won’t do it without a full examination, thought we could force rest by remanding everyone to quarters for four hours every off shift. The crew is high strung enough for it.” Of course knowing Irida and Luhiw they wouldn’t be resting. “What do you think Mr. Bog? Should we medicate everyone or throw them into a Thunderdome to work off the tension?”
