Casela figured needed to get these reports done. Seriously senior staff should know better. She laughed darkly to herself. She was one to talk. Well if she had to go by the security office, she might as well up her phaser certification. It wasn’t due for 2 months, but why not. 2 birds, 1 stone and all that.

She walked into the security office. Looking for either Lt. Stone or En. Holt, or both. She looked at the on duty officer. “Hello ensign. I’m looking for Lt. Stone. I need her to complete my phaser re-certification. I’m also looking for En. Holt if she’s not available.” Casela handed the NE a PaDD with her weapons proficiency recert due dates.

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTF

The NE checked the PADD and handed her back. While most officers waited until last few days to get the re-certification done, it wasn’t that unusual to have it done sooner, when time permitted.

“Your in luck, ma’am. Lt Stone is on the firing range at the moment. I wouldn’t know where Ensign Holt is, he’s not on the same time shift as me.”

The NE motioned to the door on their right. “The firing range is right through there.” He walked up to the door and yelled inside. “Lt. Stone, someone’s here to see you.”

Stone was inside practising. The target she was shooting at was full of holes, a lot were in the centre or close, but there were also some on the outer circles.

Casela nodded to the NE. “Thank you.” Casela stepped into the range. “Lt. Stone, I’m Lt. Synthi-er, ship’s counselor. I have recerts due and you have an eval due. I was hoping we might get both out of the way, so we can both get back to work.” She looked over at the targets. Her aim was good and Casela would wager that the outer few were shot on purpose.

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTF

Andrea blushed. It wasn’t quite on purpise the eval didn’t happen. Though she hoped she could get away with it.

“I apologize for not coming to you already. The ship left the port so suddenly though. And everyone is still busy adjusting. But yeah, um sure. If you want to do it here and now I’m ok with it. Of course if you’d prefer i come to your office I’m fine with that as well.”

She could already tell, there was no way she could dodge the bullet now. Might as well get it over with.

Lt. Andrea Stone, Cos

“Oh good. I appreciate it. I know things have been very crazy. The poor doctor and I have no crew medical/psychological files for anyone on board. We’re having to compile them from scratch. And if our departments are missing such vital information, I can only imagine what the other departments are missing.” Casela stepped up to a stall, “I need re-certifications for type 1 and 2 phasers and the type 3 phaser rifle.” Casela handed her the PaDD showing her current certifications. A ship’s counselor, usually, would have a type 1 certification. It was all that was required. But Casela had all three and she was curious to see Lt. Stone’s reaction to that.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTF

Stone raised an eyebriwn and looked at Synthi-er..
“I’m sure the crew can be sometimes hard to handle regarding counceling, but isn’t a phaser rifle an overkill?”
She shrugged it of. If the CNS was willing to share information, she would. Stone knew all to well certain things were clasified far beyond her access.

Casela laughed, “You will find out I’m the queen of overkill. But my weapons certifications have to do with my other job. I’ve worked for intel for quite a while now. And you never know what will happen when working with them. So, hence the certifications.”

“I probably don’t need to explain how the certification goes.”

She stepped to the nearby locker and retrieved the two phasers and the rifle. The targets were reset and placed at three distances. Close and medium for phasers and long for the rifle.

While the phasers themselves were calibrated as they should, she knew for a fact that the rifle she gave had a malfunctioning chamber lens. As a result, it worked like a Stormtroopers blaster.

“No Ma’am.” Casela accepted the first, type 1 phaser. Small, palm held, and easy to conceal. She liked this one. But it didn’t always pack the punch one wanted. She stepped into the stall and aimed. She hit the close ones all dead center, the medium ones she would have as well, but it didn’t hurt to be humble. The second to last she was off by a hair. She stepped back and waited for a reset for the type 2. She set the safety on the type 1 and passed it back to Stone.

“Tell me Lt. did you pick Levi or were you assigned here? Most of us were assigned.”

She hit all the targets this time dead center, but it didn’t hurt that the type 2 had more power and would hit center due to the power. She set the safety and traded it for the rifle.

“What is your personal plan as far as working with other departments?” the glance Casela gave her told her this was a rather important question.

This was the one she had a problem with. She leveled it and took longer to actually aim, she breathed out and fired. And missed. Totally missed. She lowerd the rifle and looked it over. She wasn’t an engineer or a security officer so taking one apart to fix it wasn’t an option for her. She leveled it again, on a hunch and aimed at the closest target. It hit, but barely. “This rifle has a bad chamber lens. I’d bet my boot knife on it.” She set the safety and passed it back to Stone to look at.

You could never know where the shot would land. From outside though the error wasnt visible.
Stone didn’t want Casela to fail, just wondered herself how she would react.
There was another rifle on standby in the locker, fully operational.

Lt.Andrea Stone.

Ooc: Its eye brow … damn hard to type on phone. Anyways the rifle shot can miss in any direction by up to 10cm. It might even hit where it should. Impossible to predict.

But an expert would quickly figure out, it was gun’s fault.

Miha

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

“It’s always the guns fault for the bad score!” Stone commented almost with a growl when she took the rifle. At the locker she switched the rifles. She gave her the second one with a smile though.
“Your correct this time. Try again with this one.”

As she reset the targets she said “I know the missions planed for these ship won’t be easy. If the departments don’t work together.... we won’t last very long. I for one don’t have a problem with anyone. As for how i got here.. It was recomended to me by my last CO. I probably don’t need to tell you he didn’t like me too much. Still I accepted as it seemed a better job then what I had. “
