Posted by… suppressed (2) by the Post Ghost! 👻Perhaps he was late for whatever was happening inside, but as he saw many leave the lounge, Erve ran to get the equipment first and with an outstanding fast return he got from the main door “Brr… damn that thing is ruining my skin!” He joked reaching the others grouped in the farthest corner, walking with a medium pace.
“Guy you did not told me it was a damn party! What is that, perhaps someone can briefly inform me?” He talked calmly as no calamity was going to happen in the next few minutes. If something was really weird in him was that even in the most stressful situation he could literally talk like nothing dangerous was happening.
M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO
For the first, and possibly the last, time in his long life, Zachariah Cobb was glad to spot the approaching figure of Manhattan. Partly to brief the RTF Chief for immediate action and also partly to protect him from walking right under the damn thing, Cobb hurried over to him.
“Captain, as you can see we have a developing situation in here. This thing,” and here he gestured to the cloud that was now so large as to be approaching full 50% coverage of the room, “just appeared out of nowhere and started snowing on everything. Well, I say snowing but it appears to be some form of frozen nitrogen. I’ve had one serious casualty already and barely cleared the room before having more. And now, well, as you can see, it’s almost at my fish!”
“Fish? Lord that fish is risking its life for us. Remember to award the fish a medal for the bravery shown on the battlefield. For the rest I’ll try to contain it… let’s see…” he searched in the kit the multi-phasic force field generators.
And indeed, in the centre of the room, the cylindrical aquarium was already beginning to mist over with a thin layer of frost.
“Do something, Manhattan!” the captain roared.
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
“Don’t worry Captain, It’ll be quick. I need a volunteer to run over the other side and place these two thingy on the floor. I’ll be placing the other two on this side while I also install a micro-environmental control module. Who wants some fun?” He eyed the group with a big smile on his face “It just to contain this thing, then we can decide what to do with the anomaly.”

The captain’s eyes darted nervously from the fish, to Manhattan, to the anomaly and then to the wider room as he waited for a volunteer to make themselves known. Meanwhile, the temperatures beneath the anomaly continued to plummet. Then just at that moment, as if to demonstrate current conditions point in the most tragic way possible, an RTF Operative on the perimeter slipped and fell underneath the cloud, his entire body freezing instantly, lips set for eternity into a terrified but silent scream…
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
The Captain was walking to put down the first row of generator to build the field when he saw the Agent freeze like a crystal statue “Ouch… I guess that’s more paperwork for me. Okay, everyone!” He started shouting “Only those volunteering to help me are granted to move, those who aren’t involved please stand still or you finish like this poor moron. Which makes him a moron… but poorer, you get it! So, who the hell is gonna help me?” He asked to the group as he just finished to lay down the first one “I am willing to give my medal for saving the CO’s fish to whoever will step in and set the other devices.” He giggled saying that.

Quinn swore as the guy slipped and fell through the ‘snow’ to his death. She muttered under her breath, as she eyed the area that Manhattan wanted the rest of the devices set up. She re-braided her hair into tighter french braid, so it was closer to her head instead of hanging loosely. “I will volunteer Sir.” She said before she had time to think too far on the cons versus pros of the situation.
- Quinn Kindle, Yeoman/RTF
Momentarily forgetting his own rank in the terror of the situation, at Manhattan’s order Cobb too found himself rooted to the floor, every muscle straining against even the slightest movement.
Yet, as the RTF were putting their capture plans into action, behind the bar, bottles began quickly to freeze and then shatter as the cloud’s effects reached them, tiny particles of broken glass, like bullets from countless ancient revolvers, exploding into the room and raining down on those still alive inside.
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Casela heard the shattered glass and looked up, “Awww crap.” She grabbed the captain’s arm and pulled him backwards away from the shards and the cloud and behind her so she would get hit first. “Fenrir, neutralize those shards,” Casela ordered, and hoped he had more than a woven net, those particles were small.

Manhattan threw the remaining modules to Kindle and hoped she would place those thing as fast as light, then as he finished to put the environmental control unit, the freezing advance started to get even faster like as the anomaly had a conscious mind. The Captain looked back, then to Kindle at which point she should have had installed the devices on ground “When you’re ready,” he shouted to the Agent on the other side “Let’s fall back and activate the cage or we’ll get frozen like ice creams! I don’t want to get eaten by Dave as it was summer!”
When the last of those was installed, the force field raised up and started containing the Thing. Then the Captain hit a button on the PaDD and the environmental control unit started making its job. Two things then were happening: the first was that the fish was now calmer and apparently happier than before. The second was that the temperature in the lounge got warmer and things were starting to get… wet “You are alright?” He asked to the crew as he stared at the datas on the PaDD “the field seems to hold but we don’t have too much time. We need to find a way to contain it or make a hole in the hull and eject this stuff. This is an Abell anomaly guys.”
