<snip>OOC: Or right here. You can come in and we’ll get you started.
Casela turned and eyed the last two people left. “Well, I really don’t want to go to the brig tonight, so Cpt., Cmdr, your choice. You can even your odds and we’ll make it 2 on 1, or you can spar each other and I’ll instruct while you do so.”
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF
Ryder stood straight, sweat from the work our forming on his forehead. “I think, it would be inappropriate for two senior officers to be seen fighting. They can sometimes… get out of hand, even for the best of us” He said, there was truth behind what he said, while they were both here to observe and to train he didn’t think sparring the Captain of the RTF would look good for either one of them, especially if one came ontop that sort of thing bred discontent and rumors and then there was the last time he had sparred, though again he doubted this one would end up with him and the Captain kissing. “And I am soon to report to duty, but good job Lieutenant” He turned to Manhattan with a smile, “It seems you have quite the department here Captain, it would even put Starfleet finest through their paces.”
- Commander Ryder, XO
Casela nodded, their choice of course. She didn’t think either would take bait, not here. “Alright then,” she couldn’t call him Ryder, she cursed in her head, “Cmdr. You first since you have return to duty.”
“You seem to have taken to the tonfas. Before you go let’s put them through their paces. Slow and steady to make sure you have the technique right,” Casela is quite serious and there is no tension or aggression. Despite her deisre to stay as far away from taking command of anything, she’s a good teacher.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTFHe nodded holding the Tonfas in the grip she had taught them and he waited, though they could be used both in an aggressive manner they to him at least seem much better when you were using them to defend yourself against attack. “Lets go then Lieutenant.” He said finally ready, this spar would be far less angry than their last, and maybe a little more mundane too.
- Commander Ryder, XO
Casela stepped up to him, her back to the other team members and she grinned at him briefly. The man did not lack for guts, and then she was all business. She worked Ryder and herself through the defensive techniques of the tonfas. Today there was none of the speed or aggression he had seen before. Each move was steady and controlled, giving him time to react correctly rather than hastily. She stopped once wanting to show him something. He seemed to have figured it out already, but she wanted to demonstrate for him and the rest of the team, “Use an over head strike.” When he did she turned her wrist and forearm so that the tonfa was facing up to catch the impact of the strike. “Make sure to turn your arm so the tonfa takes the blow, not your arm. If it’s not in the right place your arm will be broken. The tonfa is narrow but is an effective shield if angled right.” Then she moved them on, eventually increasing the pace slightly till she was satisfied he was comfortable with the techniques. “You learn quickly Cmdr. If you’d ever like to learn more, let me know.” She stepped off the mat and turned to Manhattan. “Your turn Captain.”
Lt. Synthi-er, RTFRyder lowered his head in respect as he stepped to one side thinking how well that went, neither of them had a bloody nose, broken ribs or open wounds. He crossed his arms this time to see how the RTF Captain would do. It wasn’t so much he didn’t like him, it was the latest attitude all the RTF carried with them, something that he knew this ship could do without.
- Commander Ryder, XO
Manhattan took the tonfas and then stood in a defensive stance “I accept this sort of challenge, Lieutenant.” Then with a smirk invited Casela to attack and looked over to the XO too… he was crazy, as his usual, but then from his mouths words came out “You too, Commander. Why don’t you join?” 2 Vs 1? Someone would say it was not fair, but the Captain was confident he could beat both of them. On the other side he was the Chief of the RTF branch, he needed to show he was something valuable.
M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO
Casela saw the crazy and did a mental check of the room. This was training, not about ego. Manhattan should know better. Casela shook her head, “Cpt.” she hoped using his rank would focus that craziness, “I was joking. I have no desire to fight you and the cmdr off at the same time.” She moved forward into the middle of the room, tonfas in position. He was already in a defensive stance, Casela moved in, much like with Raauhl, her moves were smooth and stead, allowing him time to use the proper technique. But Manhattan would be head of RTF if he couldn’t fight, so she picked up the pace some. But then she increased the distance between them and flipped the tonfas out to allow the extra length to provide distance and leverage. See what Manhattan would do with that.
“Some good competition isn’t a bad idea after all. And I am the Captain, I should be able to keep a head on both of you” he winked.
Casela was expecting snickering from the RTF team, but they were quiet. At least they had some discipline. The XO had already stated his position and she hoped he wouldn’t fall for the goading Manhattan was dishing out. Casela circled Manhattan. Her pace and rhythm changing every few steps and the pattern repeating, Let him try to figure out a tell. She had very very few, and in a sparing ring, none.
As the two took position, Erve looked Casela first. He knew she was a goodie with the Tonfas and all sorts of melee weapons. The XO? Honestly he was expecting some fierce resistance but it was all to be done before conclusion could be wrapped… he took the tonfas into a shoulder defensive-offensive position, putting the right foot forward while the left one wasn’t that far away. Then he waited (indeed he was not the first to act dude). He wasn’t going to use Casela’s technique but instead an ancient earthling art he used to love during look alike fights.
Casela shook her head. He wasn’t holding the tonfa correctly and she lashed out suddenly, flipping the tonfa out. And what he expected to be an over head strike came down, but the other came up and caught his elbow where the tonfa hand’t been placed right to absorb the attack. And then she kept moving.
“So, what are you waiting for? Go ahead! You don’t want me to wait this much.” He urged both of them.
M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO
He was impatient, and very very ready to fight. Casela tucked the tonfas back to a ready position and used them for a jab and then an uppercut, not expecting them to connect, but to judge Manhattan’s reaction times.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTFManhattan didn’t even waisted much energies to counter-attack. What he did instead was to step back both times quickly and then gaining momentum to deviate both offensive with simple full length parry and then recovering his position “Alright, tasting the ground is a good idea.” He said making brief short jumps and holding the tonfas like normal batons, holding them shoulder height. Next time Casela was going to attack he would have not simply defended his stance but actually react… in the end he was also tasting her capabilities before striking “Time to get something working, Lieutenant.”

Lt. Synthi-er, RTF
Casela had a bead on Manhattan now. This time she moved in fast directly with a rear punch to the solar plexis and then a quick backhand towards the throat. And instead of him backing up she anticipated a forward attack and quickly “cut the pie” and stepped out at a 45 degree angle out of the way and then circled and came back in with a 3 combination punch.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF
The Captain did took as its best most of the concussions and hits. Then before the last punch, Erve dodged the attack vaulting and quickly jumping up. To attack with both tonfas. With one he made a step forward and attacked her lower flank, with the other he stroke for a upper rotating slash to hit the side of the head (although with not all of his strength). He then backed up to gain again momentum.
M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO
Casela had dropped her stance at the same time Erve went to attack her lower flank and she twisted but not far enough and the contact landed right on her still bruised and partially broken ribs. She lifted her opposite arm and blocked the strike to her head, and for just a moment her gaze changed and reflected a slight look of survival at the attack on her ribs. But she didn’t wince and she didn’t call a stop. She dropped and rolled back, and the look was gone. ‘Girl, you’re sparing and you were slow. Suck it up!’ T’Jal scolded to her. She took a deep breath moving now in a clockwise motion. Her ribs ached at the depth of the breath, but she did it again. Erve was good, he didn’t waste the energy. She moved, suddenly swiftly, coming up behind him, kneeling and going for the knees to take him down and then she was up and moving again. Then she exchanged several more blows and blocks with him, the speed increasing.
