As Cobb marched through the ship on the way to the RTF Briefing Room, he used his commbadge to summon the away team members to the meeting. As a leader, he had always held tightly to the tenet that one should never ask their men and women to do that which they themselves would not. And yet here he was, about to send this select group towards almost certain death while he remained safe and comfortable on the ship. So the least he could do was have the balls to brief them personally before the event.Stepping into the briefing room, Cobb’s eyes scanned nervously from one corner to the next, half expecting another new anomaly to burst forth and add a touch of drama and confusion to the process. But as the seconds ticked by and he was met with only silence, the Captain began to accept that he was truly alone. Until the away team members began to filter in, that was.

OOC: Jay, if Manhattan also wants to give the away team a briefing then I’m totally happy for him to come in and take over this one. I just wanted to get the ball rolling on things :)
OOC: Aargh! I forgot to tag it main sim!
Lt. Remington stepped into the briefing room, anxious to get things moving. This where he WANTED to be. A chance to investigate these various types of anomalies in an effort to gain more knowledge on what happened to his parents all those years ago.
Returning to the present situation, he nodded to Cobb and simply said reported, “Sir.”
Remington (CIO)
Irida was the first of the RTF members to arrive. She moved over to a corner and checked to make sure the doctor wasn’t hiding in it. She stood with her back to the wall, still totally silent. The doctor had rattled her and her mouth had finally stopped running. She nodded to Cobb, “reporting as ordered, Captain.”
Irida, RTFFollowing Irida a few moments later was none other than Hampton. He entered into the briefing room with a confident stride. In one hand held a thin rectangular case and on his left forearm a small control panel was strapped on. He examined the few members of the away team who managed to arrive before him, nodding at them as he took a stand by the table in front of him, placing his container down on top of it. This was yet another chance to prove to the Captain he was a vital asset of the crew, and he was already on good footing with him, now it was time to solidify the CO’s favor. Hampton had also made a mental note of the fact that he was one of, if not the only member of the team who was not RTF, an observation he was keen to stay aware of.
Lt. William Hampton-CE
Remaining standing at the front of the room, the Captain nodded to each arriving member in turn, his own expression inscrutable. However, as Hampton placed the container down on the table, Cobb could not resist a small, barely perceptible grin.
“Ah, we’ll just wait for someone from science to arrive,” he announced as they all began to settle down. Then in an attempt to diminish the heavy silence he added, “So, you all feeling ready for this?”

After twenty minutes of the away team briefing, The Trill XOs voice came into the room. =^= Away team this is Raauhl, We’re now nearing transporter range of the vessel. So far no contact has been established with the vessel and due to the nebula, we are unable to scan for life signs. Be careful and we will monitor the situation from her. Open comms whilst you’re over there please.=^=
- Commander Raauhl, XO
The captain tensed visibly at the announcement from the XO. So, this was it. The time for conversation and planning had ended. The time to step, blindly, into the void was at hand.
“As Commander Raauhl says, maintain open contact with us at all times,” Cobb repeated. “We’ll pass information to you as soon as we receive it and make every effort to analyze and interpret anything you send over to us. Now, I know the preparation we’ve been able to offer is scarce, as seems to be the way with these anomalies, I’m afraid. But this is why you’re all here. It’s what you’ve all been trained to do. And I trust that the gods will return each of you to us once this mission is out.”
His eyes met each of theirs in turn then, with a heavy sigh, he announced, “Dismissed.”

OOC: Closing the thread. If anyone from science still has anything to say to the away team then feel free to give it to them in the transporter room thread.
