Not one to wait for an appointment, Bog went strait from the seen at the transporters to the med deck to get his boarding physical out of the way. It never made sense to him to have a new crew member wondering around potentially spreading all manner of contagion on a ship instead of getting them checked immediately.

The sound of his hooves clicked across the deck as he walked into sickbay, “I’m here, any of you have the time to to give me a physical or will I catch my death waiting in sick bay?!”

Ensin Bog

The sickbay was quiet and empty when the Tellarite walked in and called out, no responses came and the Sickbay was clean of any experiments that had been going on. On one of the displays blinks on with a pre-recorded message. “The Doctor is currently attending a mandatory celebration. They have been alerted to your presence in Sickbay and they will be with you shortly.”

The Tellarite isn’t given much time to ponder the message when the doors slide open again to reveal a creature of sharp angles and disproportionate limbs made of bone and sinew came in closely followed by a nurse dragging a cart and a Crewman that looks to be in a lot of pain. “MOVE!” A single clear command from the creature in a zoot suit toward Ensign Bog. The Cart swerved around both leading the crewman to a biobed, his arm in a bucket of water and a heating element turning the bucket red with heat, yet clear ice crystals are slowly crawling up the crewman’s arm. “Doctor, it’s spreading! The heat isn’t slowing it down.” The doctor runs into the office to draw out her coat, gloves, and a surgical mask. “Temperature?” The doctor looked in control but desperate for action of some kind, the nurse activated a screen to get the temperature reading. “Three hundred fifteen Doctor.” The Doctor returned, looked at the Tellarite for a moment, then continued to the Crewman. “Take a seat on a biobed I’ll get to you as soon as I save this man’s life.”

The Doctor returns to her patient, a creman Cooper based upon the screen, grunting in pain and clearly resisting the urge to scream out as his arm slowly turns blue and freezes over. =^=Doctor Kastil to Lieutenant Synthi-er, be advised I will have to prep crewman Cooper for surgery, we don’t have the means to stop the freezing process. His arm is in 315 degree water and is still freezing over. Avoid physical contact with the anomaly when possible. =^= Cooper’s eyes go wide as he turns to the doctor, “Surgery?” The doctor gives the crewman a somber look with her red orange eyes. “I can’t stop the spread and don’t understand it enough to reverse it. Our options are to amputate the arm to save the rest of you or watch you slowly freeze to death. I am choose the option you can survive. Look at it this way, you’ll get a cool cybernetic replacement and can create all kinds of stories about your amazing heroics that cost you your arm in the line of duty.”

Bog stood rooted, curiosity had his mind spinning. “Transporter buffer” he blurted out as it came to him that not only would that give them a detailed scan down to the quantum state of each atom, they could hold his pattern in the buffer while they figured out what was going on.

The former Ensin known as Bog

The nurse prepared the tools for a surgical amputation next to crewman Cooper, giving the Doctor a chance to pause in thought. “That’s actually a brilliant idea, would you be able to bring it up on a console? With any luck, another doctor or nurse will come in and we’ll be able to take a look at it right away.” The doctor took a deep breath, preparing herself mentally for one of the worst procedures she has to perform in a starship. While this would save his life, it would make him effectively useless to the ship for months while he learned to operate a new arm. One they would have to prepare for him and build, the doctor was ever so thankful her staff included a cybernetics specialist and the crew included a reformed Borg. Whatever limb he ends up with will be quite an interesting tool. “On second thought,” The Doctor called out to the Tellarite, “If you bring up the buffer scan and your medical records on the console within my office, I can consider you clear for duty now so you don’t have to wait while I remove this arm. Unless you have something that needs reporting to the Chief Medical Officer that isn’t in your records?”

The Doctor returns her attention back to Crewman Cooper, applying the amputation cuff to allow for the easy and safe removal of the freezing limb. The nurse applied a sedative to allow the crewman to rest and with a loud electronic snap, the arm is separated. A stasis box is brought over and the arm is carefully loaded into it. “Take this to Lieutenant Commander GLaDOS, let her know Ensign Fiera will be joining her soon to go over options for limb replacement.”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

Wishing he had been more clear, “I meant the crew man, sir” shaking his head and commandeering the CMO’s office to bring up the requested files. All to often his mind worked faster than his mouth, but if it caught up things went spectacularly pear shaped.
Wile he was at it he wrote a quick primer as to how to hold a person in the buffer for up to twelve hours with out risking significant degradation to their pattern.

Bog

The Doctor cleaned up the station with the nurse, making sure that the crewman remained warm and stable even with his missing limb. The nurse, once done with helping clean up, carried off the container with the now block of ice to see the Chief Science Officer. “Therein lies the issue with these anomalies. You can’t always count on indirect logic to generate answers or potential solutions as they may not act in a way you suspect. We have to be more careful of the cause and effect, else we may make a situation significantly worse. Not that the idea is bad, we just need a chance to better test it before we attempt it.”

The Doctor walked into the office with a stasis box in hand and offered it to Bog. “My sister is a Chef on Earth, while I can’t say she compares to those on Tellar, I still argue her apple pie is the best.”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

Looking up from the console, Bog grunted, “Even if it isn’t the best, she is your sister and some partiality is to be expected.” Looking back down, “ Did you try cold on the anomaly? If it isn’t playing buy the normal thermodynamic rules? “A few more keystrokes”Then again if it’s a life form metrion radiation is a great equalizer. If nothing else it would remove the organic material from your sample.”

It was a bit hard getting a lock on the sample with it being carried threw the ship, so he had resorted to using the confinement beam to stop the courier for the few seconds he needed.

“There, my medical records, my last transport and your sample.” The Tellarite looked up from the Doctor’s desk expectantly.

The late great Teller Bog

The Doctor spun the console to look over the data quickly so she could move on with other things. “Excellent, should you tire of Hampton’s ego feel free to come here. As untrained as it is I can find uses for your creativity. I mean, I do have a crewman that’s going to need a new arm and I’m always happy to have more test subjects. You know medicine always fails the first few times before you can produce a neuro-stimulant that doesn’t result in people bleeding out their eyes. My personal favorite was the Ensign I turned purple, it was actually an improvement!” The Doctor laughed for a moment, a sound that would make children cry for sure. “You are free to go at your leisure. Don’t forget your pie.”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

At the last comment Bog looked at the pie with suspicion, but Na, it was just a pie or was it? Gluttony wine out, and he picked it up as he vacated the chief medical officer’s desk. “ A pleasure m’am.” As he left her office.

Later study of the tellurites records would reveal several regressive genetic traits…
