Bog stood legs braced and hands behind his back admiring the engineering deck wile waiting for the COE to call for him.
He was a bit nervous to be honest, coming in as a new Ensin, as opposed to a seasoned NCO. Ever one new not to mess with Master Chief Bog, but who would he have to grow into the mater stream first as Ensin Bog to get the respect he deserved?

At his feet rested his tool belt, gloves, apron and goggles in a meet burlesque. His uniform was spotless, but he would have much preferred a kilt to the confining beeches, as his legs just didn’t bent the way humans did.

Chief Engineer William Hampton sat at his desk, a scowl had taken residence on his face for several hours now, and the young man was not happy. He looked over at his display screen, two minutes until Bog reported for duty. “Oh god.” He grumbled, putting his head in his hands as he rested them on his office desk. A week earlier, when he had learned of who was being assigned to Engineering in the new replacement wave, he had stopped scrolling through the manifest and selected Bog’s profile. When he saw the man was a tellarite he very nearly threw the padd straight into a bulkhead. Most starfleet officers were beyond bigoted opinions and resentments of entire species of life. Hampton was not like most starfleet officers. Of all the species in the Federation, Tellarites were a top contender for Hampton’s least favorite species award, heck, of all the species in the galaxy they were still a contender.

Thinking back on that moment, Hampton once again looked at the screen, one minute. He groaned. There had been several Tellarites in his graduating class, and he hated all of them. Well, that did not say much, he hated everybody in his graduating class. But, he REALLY hated the Tellarites. They were hideous to look at and smelled worse than they look. Their attitudes made them useless to Starfleet, Hampton had always thought. What good was a smelly, disgusting, pig on two legs that was under the illusion that every conversation was a debate team competition final to anybody?

Hampton saw he was out of time. ‘Alright’ he thought to himself. ‘Lets get this over.’ =^= Hampton to Bog, report to my office immediately.=^= He was sincerely hoping the Tellarite would be even just a few seconds late, just to have an excuse to chew him out.

Lt. William Hampton- CE

Turning on his heals, he walked to the door, thumbed it open with out preamble and walked in, coming to attention, “Tellek Bog reporting for duty, Sir.” The young Officer before him certainly didn’t look impressive…

Ensin Bog

‘Oh god he is more hideous than most.’ Hampton thought to himself as he watched Bog enter the office. The man could not even be bothered to ring the chime. As the Tellarite introduced himself it took all of Hampton’s self control, a resource that he usually had plentiful amounts of, to hold back a glare and scowl. His expression changed to one of neutrality. Normally he would let the ensign at ease of tell him or her to sit down. This case would be an exception. He looked at Bog with his eyes slightly narrowed. “What brings you to Leviathan Ensign Bog?” He asked straight away, keeping this encounter as quick as possible.

Lt. William Hampton- CE

Once the door slid shut, Bog broke protocol and took a seat, ignoring the Lieutenants question. “ I am sad to say other than resorting to base insults I can’t offer you a proper greeting, I haven’t seen anything to properly complain about here in Maine engineering. I am also aware that other than Klingons most species don’t truly appreciate a proper greeting anyway, so I will spare you.”

It dawned on him a little to late that setting down wasn’t a way to not start a fight with the new boss, taking the arms of the chair and using a rather colorful Tellarite exploitive he looked if any thing a bit deflated.

“Sorry, sir I had hoped to make a good impression. I honestly think no where else would have me.”

Ensin Bogs

Bogs blatant disregard for protocols and regulations sent Hampton through the roof. His tone of neutrality, which he had been working hard to maintain. completely vanished. “Insult me all you like Ensign,” he growled, “I promise you if this is your attitude to my ship I will insult you plenty.” He brought his hands together and cupped them together, he leaned forward in his chair. “If you wanted to make a good impression ensign you shouldn’t have just walked in and acted like this was your office. I understand that the chain of command is a game. Yet, it is one I played to get where I am, and now that I have done my time at the bottom of that game, I expect to use the perks of this position that I have worked to be at. ” His eyes narrowed even further. “I will be damned if you think you can just saunter onto this ship and ignore the rules of this game Ensign.” His teeth gritted and he fought back a snarl.

The ensign had genuinely made the chief an angry man. “I already have to deal with dismissal and abuse from the RTF officers on this ship.” He continued after a moment, “I am not going to take that same behavior from an ensign on my staff!” It was not a shout, but Hampton’s voice was raised. “If this how you conduct yourself at all your postings, I can understand why nobody else will have you Mr. Bog.” He simply stared down the Tellarite, “Don’t hide behind fake pleasantries Mr. Bog, I know what kind of a man you are, and I do not need a theatrical performance from you. So get out of that seat, and treat me like you would a Klingon officer, because right now your honesty is going to be the only thing that is going to stop me from tossing you back to Starbase 237.”

Lt. William Hampton- CE

Boys eyes narrowed, Treat you like a Klingon, that I can do “With Pleasure Sir” Bog came up out of the chair and grabbed his side of the desk and nearly put his nose against the Chief’s.

“ I gave you the truth, or most of it, fifteen years of dealing with mealy mouthed officers with over inflated egos and their thinly concealed prejudice. Fifteen years of dealing with races that don’t have the common decency to tell the truth, but hide behind stupid, centuries old human protocols.” His tusks seemed to actually grow as his frustration at hiding from an Orion oligarch boiler over” You want to be treated like an Klingon Officer, fine! I came in here and tried to be the good little federation toady, I complemented you on a well ran department and held my tong and didn’t insult you because I couldn’t find an honest complaint about what I saw” waving a two fingered hand vaguely tore the door. “ I waited for the door to close out of respect to your image in front of the crew because I knew, I just knew you were just another prig in a pretty uniform!” spittle foamed his beard and drilled on to the desk. “ If you didn’t need me they wouldn’t of sent me to the gods forsaken back end of know were, but I will be damned if I will stick my snout up your” another Tellurite expletive “ and tell you it smells like daisies!” Standing up to his full and deminitive hight “now if your delicate ego can’t handle the truth, excuse me, I have a transport to catch!” Turning on his heal and reaching for the door. * they will bust me back to crew man for that, but it was worth it.*

Crewman Bog…

OOC, spelling corection

When Bog put his nose in Hampton’s face, the chief engineer glared at him, he slowed stood up from his seat as the Tellarite talked. He was nearly a full foot taller than the pudgy pig, and he was going remind the disgruntled ensign of his higher rank and status symbolically by standing up. By the time Bog finished Hampton was crossly looking down at him. He wasn’t going to sit and be lectured by a loud, careless and generally foul beast. At the end of Bog’s rant, Hampton smirked. He felt no need to reply, if the inept ensign had just waited and acted normal for five seconds, he would have realized that Hampton was neither a toady nor a prig. Bog had dug a grave for his career in two minutes. Hampton was more than happy to kick the Tellarite into it and carve his tombstone. As soon as Bog turned and headed for the door, Hampton swiveled his display screen towards himself and began writing out a report to Raauhl touching on the ensign’s blatant insubordination. When he finished writing it, he sent it immediately.

OOC, the ending is just to perfect to mess with. Starting an after math thread.
