The clock ticked slowly as the 2000 hours came second after second closer. 5 minutes before the established hour, Erve was already there waiting for Casela and Fenrir to come. In the Holosuite the 2nd Squadron was already getting some training done before they could actually meet their new member “Do you think she will be a hot chick like Irida?” Asked Luhiw, the tallest Klingon of the group “You pervert morons. I ain’t amused by your masculine and miserable bodies! I bet she is not as gentle as me… some says she was beaten by the XO.” Then Irida responded. She was one of the two humans, beautiful, russian and with some traits that made her so interesting. Only issue? She loved to talk and I mean a lot. The other was a male by the name of Derek Trainor, tall asian like but with a strong Scottish accent. He did not liked to talk a lot but he was one of the most accurate marksman of the group. Some said that Derek once killed Romulan at a distance of some hundred meters without even aiming. But those were indeed corridor voices…
The Vulcan instead was also a woman, Niven was her name. She had a darker skin than most Vulcans and that was particularly interesting and amusing. She looked the whole group as a once and in particular eyed Luhiw “Pathetic klingons. Your brains can just think about reproducing, can’t you?” Then passing to Uj’aw, the other Klingon he faked an evil smile “If I catch you cheating on me, dear hubby, I will not come to you at Pon Far. Be logical.” Accompanied by a fake laugh and some Vulcan fashion death stare. Useless to say that the Uk’aw was thrilled by the threat and his excited soul could not not laugh and kiss the Vulcan on the lips… what a weird combination.

The group itself, although its diversity, was well blended… Erve in particular liked that no one in the Second Squadron actually had some form of hate for someone’s specie and their respect was high as no other RTF squadron actually matched “Alright lads, you know what to do. Casela will be a good resource to our ranks but first of all I want you all to respect her and make her feel at home. She haven’t really worked with a group like ours, she is a loner, a solitary wolf. So the task to train with her will be even tougher. I don’t want any of you to sniff her whenever she enters the holodeck, I am telling you Luhiw,” he stared the Klingon in particular “And Irida. Just don’t open your mouth. Your chit chats must not make her flee the first day of training. Understood?”
Everyone’s as a choir shouted a loud Yessir Yes.
Now it was time to wait… and wait…

M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO

Casela shook her head, wow what an unobservant group they were. At exactly 2000, Fenrir walked through the doors, by himself drawing the attention of everyone in the room. From behind the group Casela stepped out of the shadows near the equipment blocks. She’d arrived almost an hour before everyone else and had waited and watched. The only thing on her not healed was her ribs, and no one could see that. When she moved there was no sign that her ribs hurt like beast.

Her voice soft, but carrying, “I assure you, Irida, the stories of my beating by the XO are greatly exaggerated.” She wanted to say something about they should go look at the XO, but she bit that remark back. “Luhiw, do I rate as a hot chick for you? If so, stow it. We don’t have time for that. And Uj’aw, be sure to keep Niven a happy bride. Otherwise I’ll have Derek shoot you all.” Her mouth quirked in the semblance of a half smile showing she was only half joking. They were a good team together. Too bad Manhattan was putting her with them. “I’ve read your files, and I’m impressed, for the moment. However, Manhattan,” she called past the group, “it’ll take a lot more than this group to scare me off.”

She walked around in front of them, a simple hand gesture calling Fenrir to her side. “This is Fenrir, our AARM KAI9 and now part of this team.”

Lt. Synthi-er, KAI9 Handler

Unexpectedly Ryder had entered the room, he eyed everyone lingering over Casela before finding the Captain. “Sorry I am late, my invitation got lost in the post. I hope you don’t mind Captain I figured instead of us butting heads I could learn something from you. Someone recently taught me a very hard lesson.” He pointed to his lip and swollen eye that he had left, the dermal regenerator could only repair so many injuries at once and he had decided that the broken ribs were a priority. Circling round the group he took position behind the agents.

Casela didn’t even flinch. For all anyone knew she didn’t even register the XOs presence. However, that was not true of what was going on her head. Great, thanks come in here still all bruised up and start the rumors flying! Just what I need. Apprently Irida talks to much and Mr. Ego over there just got her started. Well if you’re going to show up, your going to work. Casela looked at them. “You can leave your Mark VIIs over there” she indicated the equipment racks over by where she had slipped out of the shadows. “Computer, 9 pairs of tonfa’s Synthi-er design Zeta.” On the floor in the center of the room 9 pairs of wooden batons appeared, covered in foam rubber. She picked them up and placed one set by the door. At the curious looks of the other officers, she simply raised a brow and said, “You never know when you might need an extra pair.” She slipped a pair into her belt loop on her RTF uniform. She then handed a pair to Irida, Luhiw, Derek, Niven, and Uj’aw. She then passed a set to Manhattan. She walked over to Ryder and held out the last pair, daring him not to take it.

The Trill still hurting from their sparring match looked down to the tonfa’s, which were short baton-like weapons with handle jutting out the side towards the hilt. Looking up to meet Caselas eyes he wanted to reject the offer but seeing the look in ehr eye he decided to entertain her, besides, along with as they didn’t fight each other again the lesson may remain civil, though Ryder wouldn’t mind the end result again.

Casela nodded approvingly as he took the tonfas. She saw the look he gave her and simply raised a brow. She was there today to instruct, not teach him a lesson.

“Computer, heavy hanging bags, 8 along the back wall, and one in the center of the room.” She waited for the computer to comply. “Alright, show me. What do you do with these?” Casela waved towards the 8 bags at the back of the room letting them all take one. She walked behind them watching, not bad, over all, but not the best way. “Okay, stop. This is how you do it.” She walked over to the center bag and faced them. “First, your hold is wrong. Hold the short handle off the side, and the long part should go along your forearm extending from the outside of your fist.” She showed them. The hand ended just past her thumb, with the long part of the tonfa extended all the way along her outer forearm, and then along the outside of her fist just past her knuckles. “This weapon is both offensive and defensive. Use it as such.” She turned and squared up to the heavy bag from the side. She executed a series of punches, ripping small holes on the bag, and then came across hard using the long end to brace her forearm and add power to several elbow strikes, the last making a long tear letting some of the sand spill out. Looking at each of them in turn and stopping at the XO, “If you like elbow strikes, these will be come your new best friend.” She stepped away from the bag. “Now, again, how would you use these?” She let them get back to work, walking behind them watching them get a feel for the tonfas, and patiently waiting for their 9th guest.

Lt. Synthi-er

Ryder avoided smiling as he reset his stance holding the weapons and instructed if it was true that his preferred elbow strikes would make these a favorite weapon of his then he was willing to give them a chance. He began to copy the moves she had displayed but slowly getting a feel for the Tonfa’s. They were brilliant, he could certainly see himself using them in the future, he wondered if the tip, or as Casela explained the Ushiro Atama could be electrified like a taser.

Casela stopped at each of the team members, watching. Irida had already figured out how to use the tonfas to the best results. She smiled and nodded. She would spend extra time at the end working through advanced techniques with the Russian woman and showing her how to transfer those techniques to the Mark VII.

Luhiw was a different story. He liked women, and although Casela didn’t begrudge him that she had no patience for it in training. She pulled him aside to work through mastering the basic techniques. He was good with them, but he was a little cocky. “Come on Luhiw, attack.” He laughed and made some crude comment about the ‘little lady.” Casela dropped and the tonfa quickly swung out and caught Luhiw behind the knee dropping him. Casela flipped the tonfa back in and punched forward to the carotid artery in his neck, stopping well away. “Little doesn’t mean weak Luhiw. I take out your knees, you’re shorter than me.” She backed up a step, “Again.” She worked with Luhiw for several minutes making sure he had no resentment and that he had a feel for the tonfas. Then she handed him a PaDD, “You’re our anomaly handler. We need your hands and your brain. But these are specks for lightweight, but heavy duty gloves. They will give you as much protection as a pair of klingon gauntlets but allow for fine dexterity.”

Casela watched Derek for several minutes. Derek was the sharp shooter and he was obviously not at ease with the close in fighting. She pulled him aside, switching his tonfas for a bo staff. She worked through it with him for quite awhile. After she gave him a small cylindrical item that fit in his hand, a button on the end, when pressed would extend it to a full size bo staff.

Niven had a good feel for the tonfas. Casela pulled her next introducing the flipping technique to add power and range to the weapon. She began to press Niven, pushing her harder and was relentless giving her no break. This was not for Niven’s benefit. Casela was watching Uj’aw. Klingon emotions ran high. After, what would have been a lethal blow, if Casela hadn’t been extremely careful, Uj’aw started to step forward. Casela called a stop and sent Niven back to work. She pulled Uj’aw over to her and they walked away from the group speaking quietly. Casela’s face was stern, but she was relaxed. After several minutes Uj’aw nodded and they shook hands.

Casela turned and eyed the last two people left. “Well, I really don’t want to go to the brig tonight, so Cpt., Cmdr, your choice. You can even your odds and we’ll make it 2 on 1, or you can spar each other and I’ll instruct while you do so.”

Lt. Synthi-er, RTF

Ryder stood straight, sweat from the work our forming on his forehead. “I think, it would be inappropriate for two senior officers to be seen fighting. They can sometimes… get out of hand, even for the best of us” He said, there was truth behind what he said, while they were both here to observe and to train he didn’t think sparring the Captain of the RTF would look good for either one of them, especially if one came ontop that sort of thing bred discontent and rumors and then there was the last time he had sparred, though again he doubted this one would end up with him and the Captain kissing. “And I am soon to report to duty, but good job Lieutenant” He turned to Manhattan with a smile, “It seems you have quite the department here Captain, it would even put Starfleet finest through their paces.”

  • Commander Ryder, XO

Casela nodded, their choice of course. She didn’t think either would take bait, not here. “Alright then,” she couldn’t call him Ryder, she cursed in her head, “Cmdr. You first since you have return to duty.”

“You seem to have taken to the tonfas. Before you go let’s put them through their paces. Slow and steady to make sure you have the technique right,” Casela is quite serious and there is no tension or aggression. Despite her deisre to stay as far away from taking command of anything, she’s a good teacher.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF

He nodded holding the Tonfas in the grip she had taught them and he waited, though they could be used both in an aggressive manner they to him at least seem much better when you were using them to defend yourself against attack. “Lets go then Lieutenant.” He said finally ready, this spar would be far less angry than their last, and maybe a little more mundane too.

  • Commander Ryder, XO

Casela stepped up to him, her back to the other team members and she grinned at him briefly. The man did not lack for guts, and then she was all business. She worked Ryder and herself through the defensive techniques of the tonfas. Today there was none of the speed or aggression he had seen before. Each move was steady and controlled, giving him time to react correctly rather than hastily. She stopped once wanting to show him something. He seemed to have figured it out already, but she wanted to demonstrate for him and the rest of the team, “Use an over head strike.” When he did she turned her wrist and forearm so that the tonfa was facing up to catch the impact of the strike. “Make sure to turn your arm so the tonfa takes the blow, not your arm. If it’s not in the right place your arm will be broken. The tonfa is narrow but is an effective shield if angled right.” Then she moved them on, eventually increasing the pace slightly till she was satisfied he was comfortable with the techniques. “You learn quickly Cmdr. If you’d ever like to learn more, let me know.” She stepped off the mat and turned to Manhattan. “Your turn Captain.”
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF

Ryder lowered his head in respect as he stepped to one side thinking how well that went, neither of them had a bloody nose, broken ribs or open wounds. He crossed his arms this time to see how the RTF Captain would do. It wasn’t so much he didn’t like him, it was the latest attitude all the RTF carried with them, something that he knew this ship could do without.

Ooc I am really not seeing an opening here for Quinn to join in. If you have a suggestion or something that I am not seeing feel free to point it out. From what I have read though this thread is meant to specifically get casela used to the group as it is. With Quinn being a very recent new addition, she’s not completely known to the group nor casela yet.
