Ryder put down his drink and left his present company to check what the commotion was, “What’s going on, Copper isn’t it?” He called out finally closing the gap to the man, Cooper a shipyard engineer was cradling his arm. “Well spit it out man.”
- Commander Ryder, XO
Casela watched Ryder move over towards Cooper. She tapped Cobb on the arm and pointed. She as sure the Cmdr had whatever it was in hand, but it was a shame if problem started at the first crew event of their voyage.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSThe Doctor didn’t get much time to reply to the captain or the surroundings when the engineer called out for help. As quickly as she could get through the crowd, she was there with a tricorder out. The nurse that had brought the cake pulled out a full medical kit from under the cake and started heading toward the doctor to back her up. “Commander, please relax and allow Cooper to speak on his own terms. I want to be sure he’s awake but I don’t want to panic him as that may send him into shock.” The nurse opened the kit next to the doctor and turned to clear the crowd away from them so she could do her work. “Give the Doctor some room, let her work.”
- Doctor Fey Kastil
On his knees now, his arm still clutched tightly to his chest, Copper continued to moan and blow onto his arm, as if attempting to soothe a deep burn. The doctor’s tricorder, however, would register severe vasoconstriction in his lower arm and hand, almost as if he were suffering the effects of extreme frostbite. Indeed, were the doctor to visually inspect the injured arm then she would see the skin itself turning blue.
Meanwhile, at the table, it was now Clark’s turn to cry out, with a confused yell of “what the hell?”. Seconds later and Synthi-er’s sweater had fallen from the table, the ice it had become encrusted in making several loud snaps as it collided with the floor.
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Casela watched the sweater fall and shatter, and she moved. She was next to Cobb one moment and then pulling Clark out of the booth and towards the nurse. She turned quickly making use of her “move or die” stare, “Get back, away from here.” She moved them quickly to the other side of the room. She knelt next to Fey, the nurse, Cooper, and Clark. “What do you need, Doc?” She grabbed an extra tricorder from the medkit and started scanning the table and booth.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTF
Doctor Kastil loads a hypospray with pain medication and doesn’t bother to ask permission as she injects it into Cooper. “I need a large bucket with warm water or a low-temperature heating element. We’ll cause irreparable damage if we reheat the arm too quickly, but we do need to return it to normal temperature. Someone move the cake, we’ll need the cart.”
- Doctor Fey Kastil
From over by the bar area, the faint voice of Captain Cobb could be heard. “The cake? Oh, I’ve got it!” Followed by a growl, and then more sternly, “back off, Ensign. I will take care of the cake!”
Casela nodded, moving quickly behind the bar to the replicator. She got a large square bucket with low sides so Coopers who arm could reach into it comfortably. She filled it with warm water and also ordered what looked like a single burner camping stove. She brought them back to Dr. Kastil. Then she resumed her tricorder readings.
Quinn walked in and wondered what she had walked into since it sounded like someone was in extreme pain and it felt like walking into a freezer. She wrapped her arms around herself as she moved further into the lounge trying to figure out what was going on.
- Quinn Kindle -Yeoman/RTF
Casela looked at Kindle, “I know you’re the captain’s yoeman, but right now I need your help getting these people out of here. Let’s move them to Ophion Lounge and Bar on deck 30. They can finish the party there, or disperse, but we need to get them out of here.” She glanced at Cobb to see if he wanted to change that order, but turned back.
Lt. Synthi-er, RTFAs the pain medication began to work its magic, Copper’s cries diminished and he fell silent, watching with a degree of terrified detachment as the Doctor continued to work on his arm.
At their table, however, Clark, who had been studying the ice-encrusted sweater, now rose to his feet and pointed towards the ceiling. “What the hell is that???”
Were the crew to follow the man’s outstretched finger, they would see a strange, nebulous shape start to form above the table where the two engineers had been seated. As the grey, billowing mass continued to expand, it also began to shed small particles from its underside, that fell down onto the table and now-vacant seats.
“Hey! It’s snowing!” Clark yelled in amazement, stretching out his hand to catch one of the crystal flakes, which landed into his palm with a hiss and the instant stench of burning flesh…
- Cobb / Copper / Clark
Casela swore, “Clark move!” She grabbed him again, this time shoving him towards the medical staff that had appeared. She looked up and took a step back herself. “Hey Luhiw! Get over here, and the rest of your team.” She’d seen the ‘black devils’ as they called them selves arrive earlier. She’d cancelled RTF training that night so they could attend. Now she was really glad she had. “We need your expertise.” That thing, whatever it was, was NOT normal and she felt confident saying it was an anomaly. For the time being. As they approached she turned to help get the rest of the crew out of the way and moving to another location. After a few moments she turned back to look again. That thing was creepy. She watched the RTF team move, she’d never seen them working in this capacity and in the back of her mind she was taking notes on the way they worked together. The medical staff seemed to have Clark and Copper under control. She glanced at Cobb and then Ryder waiting. She walked over to Cobb, “Sir should we summon Cmdr. GLaDOS and Cpt. Manhattan?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS“Aye, Lieutenants Stone and Hampton too,” the Captain nodded. Then glancing around at the packed room he added, “And get these people out of here. Post a security officer on the door. Nobody else is to enter this room unless absolutely necessary. Understand?”
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Casela nodded, “Aye Cpt.” =^=Cmdr. GLaDOS, Cpt Manhattan, and Lt. Hampton this is Lt. Synthi-er. The Captain requests your presence in the Jörmungandr Lounge. We have, what appears to be an anomaly forming.=^=
She looked around, people were still milling about. Her patience had worn out, she walked over to a particularly large group, and quietly and without raising her voice, “Move, the captain wants this place clear, Now.” She pointed out the door, and her expression, the face of rumor on board, sent the rest of them running for the door. She continued to herd them out the door. =^= Lt. Stone this is Lt. Synthi-er. The captain would like you to join us. We have a situation forming in the Jörmungandr Lounge. He also wants a couple of security officers to secure access to the lounge.=^= She shrugged, or something like that. She should never have asked him what he needed her to do, she should have suggested he do it instead.
She walked back over to Cobb keeping an eye on the door. “They should be here shortly, Cpt.”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSWilliam Hampton emerged from the entrance of the lounge several minutes later. Holding a case that no doubt contained several gadgets. Stepping into the room he took in the scene. It was bizarre. He noted the cloud that was forming and walked up to the Captain and the rest of the senior officers. “Quite a way to get a crowd.” He quipped to those around him. He pulled out an engineering tricorder and began to scan the area to see if anything was technically amiss with the room.
Lt. William Hampton- CE
Quinn was taken aback by the way the Counselor spoke to her and she had to stop herself from her first comment. She started to get folks attention and herding them towards the doorway. She wasn’t going to leave though. She was part of the RTF as well and she hadn’t received a counter offer from the Captain to leave. The ‘flurries’ were definitely not normal…
Quinn Kindle, Yeoman/RTF
As Casela helped herd people out as well she nodded to Kindle. She’d asked Kindle because she was RTF. She would have thought that was obvious, but then Casela was having to adjust to working with a crew instead of working around them. Not everyone thought the way she did. After they were done she spoke again, “Thanks Kindle. I figured it was better for someone from RTF to handle just in case that thing spread. Figured we’d notice it before the rest of the crew.” Casela turned and headed back for another group of stragglers.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTFRyder had watched this all unfold and decided that the CNS and the other RTF members had it under control, “Lieutenant, I’m returning to the bridge please keep my informed with everything going on. This may be a good time to use that dog of yours, non-lethally this time though please.” He moved to one side as people began to leave the room he wasn’t sure how he liked the idea of the party continuing but wouldn’t the humbug to stop it, He figured most would disperse now anyway.
- Commander Ryder, XO
Casela kept her attention on the events in front of her. Cobb was here, if he wanted Ryder to know what was going on he’d tell Ryder himself. But her eyes flashed fire. He knew Fenrir had been reprogrammed and it wasn’t her, or her hot headed reputation that caused that. But it was fine, she was never judged by the same standards, and her respect for him dropped several degrees. “If you’d give me back my things, I wouldn’t need that dog of mine. And in case you missed it Luhiw is over there and he’s the best anomaly handler RTF has. You might want to actually get to know the WHOLE crew some time.” Casela walked walked away mumbling over men and their pissing contests, and over to Cobb and away from Ryder. The man wasn’t fit for his job. “Cpt. the other crew should disperse, but if not they’ve been sent to the lounge on deck 30. From what I can see only Cooper and Clark seem to be hurt. Do you want me to send someone to check the deck above us?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/RTF
Ryder rolled his eyes with no response he had in his mind that would help the situation though he did wonder if putting you love interest on report was healthy for any growing relationship, not that they were one but he didn’t want any future complications neither now or in the future. Sighing he put down his glass and left the same way the crowed had left and back to the CIC to finish his duty, hopefully peacefully.
