“I was under the impression I didn’t require one, I have been on board since my last before the ship changed hands between Starfleet and the RTF” He explained taking off his shirt, there was no pint in arguing or shyness now. “But I suppose you’re the Doctor. I’ll try to restrain myself in future fights, though I don’t think that will be an issue we worked out our difference” ‘And then some’ he thought as the image of Casela flooded his mind.

  • Commander Ryder, XO

Doctor Fey paused for a moment, then looked at the Commander with an expression of complete confusion. “Who was the previous Chief Medical Officer and why did they take the records database with them? You’re right, you shouldn’t require a new physical unless you left the ship for an extended leave before reboarding. I’m assuming that you didn’t. Unfortunately, the medical records database was gone and every time I requested a new one from Starfleet I got either a garbled mess or records that were sadly out of date.” More trouble and inconvenience for this ship, why does it feel like everything wants this ship to fail at what it is doing. Either way, the doctor continued her scan and subsequent repair of the damages to the Commander from his mysterious fight. “Any allergies or medications I should know about? Family history of anything? A sudden desire to submit to experimentation?”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil.

“No Allergies or medication and well I have just recently become joined so I guess that’s something and if I have any such desires I’ll let you know.” He chuckled but thought back to the problem she was having with the database, she wasn’t the only one. “I think with the refit and having been disconnected from the usual starfleet channels it hasn’t come as a surprise that some of our databases are either out of date or missing. I’m sure once we’ve returned and finished the refit everything will be working fine.

Doctor Fey put the last finishing touches in with the dermal regenerator and loaded a hypospray with an anti-inflammatory. “This will help with any residual pain.” She applied the medicine but couldn’t help the question rolling around in her head. “I’m pretty sure you’re just as lost as the Captain was, but would you happen to know why we were shoved off so early? So many of us are already having problems with the basic functions of the ship that wouldn’t be a problem had the refit finished. I’m not usually one to question orders, but this seems awfully inefficient even for Starfleet standards.”

-Doctor Fey Kastil

Feeling a little better already he tore his mind to the question at hand. “Well, you could argue its extremely efficient, we’re able to carry out the remainder of the refit inflight and conduct missions.” Ryder rotated his shoulder to work out the kinks before then adding, “But to answer your question and perhaps echoing what the Captain said, we’re all a little unsure. One of the RTFs civil ships sent out a distress call, claiming that they had an active artifact and then the next they were either all unconscious or mostly sleep deprived, I know the readings suggest radiation but what if its something else as well like the device is somehow inducing them into a sleep-like state and maybe even worse hallucinating awful images, maybe it’s not just a certificate maybe its something that controls their very thoughts and dreams.” He shrugged, “We wont know much more until we get there though I suppose.

  • Commander Ryder, XO

Doctor Fey pondered on this for a long moment then seemed to have a stroke of brilliance. “Computer, update countermeasure log. Antipsychotic, specifically chemicals that cause hallucinations, and something to suppress dreaming. This should be mostly harmless seeing as how we don’t need to dream to get sufficient sleep.” The Doctor starts packing up her tools and the Commander’s First Aid kit. “I still would like a body to examine so I can narrow down a specific cause to protect against, but knowing this much will allow me to at least protect the crew from a potential side effect until I know what causes it. Thank you, Commander, that was most helpful. Come see me in the morning and I’ll give you some cookies. My sister sends them in stasis boxes to preserve freshness every so often and she is quite the chef.”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

“Cookies sounds nice, and I’ve heard about your sisters culinary skills from the crew so I’m delighted to finally taste some.” He gave the doctor a smile. “Well if that’s me, I have some sleep to catch up on, thankyou for visiting Doctor.” Ryder, moved with her as they neared the door.

  • Commander Ryder, XO

“It was my pleasure Commander, don’t hesitate to come to sickbay. You will always be welcome there. Pleasant dreams.” With both kits in hand and polite nod, the Doctor leaves the Commander’s room to return to Sickbay.
