“I’m not so bad,” John replied, “Everything is likely to be in order. Just the usual elevations associated with first day jitters.”

John was correct on his guess. The tricorder readings showed slightly increased heart rate and blood pressure, but nothing to be concerned with. His blood sugar levels were fine and he was generally in good health.

The tricorder would also show signs of some bruising on his torso and a cracked rib that had occured within the last few weeks. That along with marks around his wrists and ankles were healing, but no doubt had been painful when first inflicted.

The Doctor hummed a note of thought while observing the tricorder results. “So you say, care to tell me why you are injured and why you didn’t see a medical technician for it?” The doctor moved from the biobed to collect the tools she would need to work on the Lieutenant Commander’s injuries. “Cracked rib, bruising, ligature markings on wrist and ankles.” The doctor paused for a moment to give John a stern look that couldn’t really be seen in the dark or behind the goggles. “Were you interrogated by something aggressive?”

“Oh an… Intermate relationship got a little out of hand,” John replied, “His interpretation of safe sex turned out to be more Klingonesque than expected. Due to assignments and deadlines, you’re the first doctor I’ve seen since.”

The doctor had her doubts on this story but decided not to question it at this time. “A little too aggressive for my tastes, but to each their own. What are your responsibilities for the next three days? I can fix this, but it will require you to have at least a full 24 hours of rest before returning to regular duty. If you don’t have that kind of time, I’d rather wait till you do.” The Doctor understood that some crewmen would go out and do silly things to get themselves hurt, even still she wants to be sure that those injuries get a chance to rest and heal correctly so as to avoid any complications.

Fey checked the tricorder again to make sure nothing else was out of the ordinary and made annotations on a PaDD to be added to his medical records. “Due to some unforeseen complications, I don’t have everyone’s complete medical records. Do you happen to have a copy that I can add to my files?”

“Not to hand,” John said, “The last ship I spent significant time on was the Viking. Her uploads to command are patchy due to issues with her computer core. I will contact them and see if they can manually send the file to you.”

The Doctor looked at John suspiciously for a moment then shrugged and pulled another PaDD to start filling in temporary records until the complete set could arrive. “Any allergies I should know about? Medical history that I should be aware of? Family history of problems that may have a clue as to potential issues you may be having?” The tricorder gave her the blood type, and basic biological information she was able to add to the temporary records. “Also need to know when your last set of Immunizations were received.”

“Ofcourse,” John said, “No known allergies. I had the full set when I joined the Viking, with boosters around 18 months ago. Next set of boosters is due in 6 months or so. In addition, I had a the immunisation for Romulan Flu just two months ago.”

Such an inoculation was not part of the standard injections and was usually only administered to those expecting to come into extended close contact with the Romulans.

“At my last sight test, my Retnax prescription was minus 2.25,” he said indicating to his left eye. He then indicated to his right, “and minus 1.75.”

The scan would confirm this was the prescription that John was using, but would also indicate a slight change and that he should be on minus 2.5 for his left eye.

Doctor Fey made the last few notes on her PaDD and put it away into her lab coat. “I have everything I need, you are cleared for duty unless you have anything else you would like to add?” The doctor didn’t expect there to be anymore, but she felt it would be better to ask now before he left.
