Quinn held the PaDD with her transfer orders in her left hand. She had two duffle bags on her shoulders but they balanced and didn’t effect her gait as she walked. On first glance it was easy to overlook her mostly because she was under five feet tall. At Four feet and eleven inches, she was used to slipping past folks before they noticed her. (She prided herself on it as a matter of fact.) Her hair was pulled back in a twisted bun on the back of her head, she had removed the dye from it showing off her naturally dark red locks. Though she was certain to get bored and start applying different colors again. First impressions were important and for once she was actively trying to not be a pain in anyone’s backside. She was good at her job whether it was paperwork or going after something troublesome.

Yeoman/RTFHe caught her movements out of the corner of his eye and, for a brief moment mistook her for that bloody jack-in-a-box of an anomaly, Gen. But no, the hair was too red. Not that he paid that much attention to such frivolities! Still, the duffle bags suggested that she was a new arrival and, overtaken suddenly by an incredibly rare wave of politeness, Cobb called out, “Ah, Miss. Can I help you with your bags there, eh?”

Quinn paused her steps and turned around looking up, way up to meet the gaze of the middle aged man, she offered up a cheeky smile showing off one dimple. “I haven’t been called Miss since training days but I thank you for the compliment anyway.” She eyed him a moment and added, “I am here to report to Captain Cobb as yeoman and I am also part of the Recovery Task Force.” She said lightly but not offering over one of the duffle bags yet. She wasn’t certain if it was a test of trust or if the offer was actually genuine. Quinn wasn’t one to trust right off the bat. Not without very good reasons.

The relief on the old man’s face was palpable. Moving quickly to her side, he exclaimed, “You’re the Yeoman? Why, the gods must have taken pity on me this day!”
Seemingly oblivious, by accident or by design, to Kindle’s mention of also belonging to the RTF, Cobb continued to talk as if greeted with an old friend. Albeit one whom he treated more like a personal assistant.
“I hope your journey here was pleasant enough? I know enlisted transports aren’t always the most luxurious of vessels,” he chuckled, beginning to move once more along the corridor and motioning for the Yeoman to join him. “Say, how are your skills with drink mixing? I haven’t had a decent Old Fashioned since I came onboard!”
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Quinn didn’t bother to hide the cheeky grin that she aimed at him, “My trip was fine Sir, I don’t need luxurious traveling to entertain me.” She raised her ginger hued brows slightly, “There’s several types of ‘Old Fashioned’, I know of seven combinations personally but I don’t mind learning more if you have specific preferences, Sir.” She paused and added lightly, “My policy is, you get what you need or request depending on the situation.” Meaning if she walked in the office and found him nursing a hellasous hangover she would reassess his needs. As long as she didn’t find him falling down drunk she could deal with most things on her own. If he was falling down drunk that would require a quiet call to Sickbay and have the Doctors inturvine. She quietly hoped that wouldn’t be the case too often, but she was there to pull duty as Yeoman and her being part of the RTF department.

“Seven combinations?” he replied, impressed. “Well then, I feel it would be a damned shame were I not to try them all. To be sure which one is my favourite.”
Still, there was something about this Yeoman that wasn’t sitting easy with Cobb. Maybe it was because, physically, she looked like she could take him down with one hand behind her back. Or maybe it was the way she delivered her responses, in the same kind of no-nonsense manner he’d been getting from the counselor. Dammit, was every single crewmember on this ship determined to straighten him out?
“So, do you have any questions on your assignment here, or your duties, Yeoman?” he attempted to steer the conversation quickly away from his drinking habits, lest she begin to form suspicions that would only serve to make his life more difficult.

“I would like to know if you have specific time you want to receive the morning reports and paperwork. I can work around the rest as needed since I haven’t met with the RTF Coordinator yet. I am guessing unless there’s an issue that my duties as Yeoman take presidence over my RTF department duties?” Quinn replied lightly though her eyes were twinkling slightly, she hadn’t expected him to say he wanted to try all seven combinations that she knew of for a “Old Fashioned”. If anything thus far she was willing to say that this assignment was definitely not going to be boring if the first meeting with the Captain was anything to go on.
She was also amused he hadn’t immediately told her to change her tone and how she commented towards him.

Damn it. They’d been enjoying a perfectly pleasant conversation, or so Cobb thought. But then she’d just had to go and mention, again, the bloody RTF. Cobb had been making every effort over the last few days to try and ignore the presence of Captain Manhattan and his elite squad of cannon fodder. But as always, the universe conspired to allow him no respite from these petty tortures. Death by a thousand paper-cuts.
“Yes. Your yeoman duties take precedence over…everything else,” he replied testily, refusing to even mention that department by name. Although as insouciant as Cobb liked to be, still that ingrained sense of duty forced the remainder of the truth past his reluctant lips. “But…ah, in an ARU Containment Situation, then I do believe that your duty is to the…other team, before any matters onboard.”
There. He’d answered as honestly as he could stomach. It wasn’t right, his own staff being stolen from him for business not entirely under his control. But if he’d succeeded in learning anything over the last few, miserable days, it was that being the Captain of this ship was about as revered a position as the strange critters Ensign Kahl kept in her lab.
“As for the morning reports,” he continued, sulking now, “I’m expected to be on the bridge by oh-nine-hundred, so they’ll do then. With a strong raktajino, if that isn’t too much trouble?”
