“No need to worry. I know your capacities and I want you in my team.” He then leaned forward “Lieutenant, your training will be in-line with the 2nd Recovery Squadron. They aren’t too much, some 5 dudes,” he gave her a PaDD with the 5 names (Some were Klingon, one was Vulcan and two were Humans, which was a weird blend) “Trainings are purposely put between the evening and midnight time slots and will take some 18 hours weekly for 7 months, excluding Sunday. However, the gym is always open and the training holodecks are available all the days from 1000 and 1300 hours… if your training time seems minuscule it is because you are also the Counselor of the ship. Otherwise you would be performing between 20 to 30 hours of training weekly… do you think you can handle this rhythm or do you require some less time, Casela?” He paused waiting for a reply.

Casela didn’t answer him immediately. She thought about the workload first. This was something she understood. She wasn’t happy with the short training times. She understood the necessity of training and being on top of your game. However, she had other responsibilities for the ship, and at the moment they were taking a lot of time. “I will say I would not be happy with less time training. I’m not happy with only 18 hours weekly. I know the value and necessity of constant and consistent training. I also don’t like that the team you are placing me with will be getting more than myself.” She grins wryly. “And not for my pride. It allows them to work together more often and gain a rhythm that we will have to place catch up with when I am there. I also assume they have already been working together, so that puts us at further disadvantage. However, I do have other duties on board.” She shrugs a little. Not much she can do about it. “So I will say no I don’t need less, I’ll be there, and I will be at as many extra trainings as my duties allow.”

She stops to think, taking the PaDD with the information. “What about Fenrir. He has to be reprogrammed and then retrained. And if that hadn’t happened, he would still need training simulations. That is a whole different set of training for him. With us both being listed as handlers, either of us can do it, but he needs the training to further his AI development.”

“We, I mean you, don’t have too much time. So all training sessions you’ll be performing will be accompanied with Fenrir… what a name. But anyway, I will add 2 more hours for custom training and chips adaptation. For the rest I will be busy with him so we can keep some progress even when you’re absent. Is that for you Right?

Casela didn’t like the idea of the secondary handler handling the majority of the KAI9’s training, but she didn’t have much of a choice. She simply nodded.

“Just to add something to spice up the flavor, the Squadron you’ll be training with necessitates of a lead.” He bit his lips “I am not saying you should be their leader but I want you to take control of the squadron during tactical training. This way you will develop more the sense of command and blending cooperation in your life will be ‘easier’.”

Casela raises a brow. Leadership? Great…just what she needed, more responsibility. “If you think that’s the best idea, Manhattan by all means I will do so. But again, this squad will be training extra hours when I cannot. I can not lead the tactical trainings effectively when I’m only there half the time. That hardly inspires trust and confidence in them for me and vice versa.”

“I know, Casela. It’s a challenge indeed…” he smirked “I just want to see how well you can be under pressure. Don’t worry, it will not be permanent. Not yet.” He then chuckled of fun.

Casela remained totally passive. She wasn’t liking where this was going, but that was a problem for later.

Looking straight at Casela’s eyes he found some time to rest from all paperwork and handling the Lieutenant’s troubles. He found appealing her eyes but as he then realized it was being awkward, he cleared his throat and signed a PaDD with the stylus Authorizations, lots of authorizations. I do really need to complain about it! “Well, I don’t have anything else to say than stay away from the XO. Tomorrow you will start your training at 2000 hours until 2300… I will be present tomorrow so don’t come late.”

M. Capt. Erve Manhattan - RCO

“I am never late, Manhattan. I’ve been accused of many things, but never being late. Tomorrow 2000 hours,” having been dismissed she walked out. Stay away from the XO. Oh that was NO problem, not after how that sparing session ended. Nope. No. Problem. At. All. She shook her head as she walked off, she couldn’t even convince herself of that. She wanted off that ship.
