Before visiting the ships counselor, John headed for sickbay for his boarding physical. There he expected to be subjected to all manor of scans and probing questions of an intimidate nature. As a doctor he had asked them many times…

Entering the sterile room, John headed to the waiting area…

-McHarrie

The lights in the halls around Sickbay were all turned off or dimmed depending on how far out you were and when the doors opened, the waiting area was dark. Pairs of red glowing eyes were floating about the tables in the back covered with all manner of chemical experiments, some of which had a very slight glow themselves. Whispers fill the dark corner of the room and one of the shadows turns to face John, it’s red eyes larger than the others. With notable clops from heavy shoes, the larger shadow approaches the Lieutenant Commander. Once close enough a hand reaches through the darkness toward John, fingers that are clearly bony and too long to be natural reach for his shoulder. A deep and raspy female voice calls out to him, “Welcome Lieutenant Commander McHarrie, we’ve been expecting you.”

  • Doctor Fey Kastil

John was not familiar with the Doctor’s species or form of greeting and was unsure how what the socially acceptable responses should be and it took a few moments for the translator in his comm badge to translate the word into Welsh.

“Pnawn da. Mae’n debyg nad oes cyfrinachau ar y llong yma yna?” He said which he heard translated into Kastil’s language after short delay

“Good afternoon. I guess there are no secrets on this ship then” the artificial voice had said.

The issue with the delayed translation would resolve itself once their comm badges downloaded the relevant language files which usually only took a few minutes to do.

The doctor takes hold of McHarrie’s shoulder to guide him through the dark to a biobed. “I took the time to learn the crew manifest and available medical records, it’s imperative that I know who and what is on the ship so I can monitor and maintain the crew’s physical health.” The doctor guided a hand to the biobed so John would know where to sit. “I apologize for the light conditions, we are working with photosensitive chemicals today and have to maintain no light conditions. How are you feeling today?” The doctor starts scanning the Lieutenant Commander with a tricorder set to emit data on an ultraviolet spectrum so that there isn’t a generation of light to interfere with the ongoing experiments.

The communicator would pick up and auto-translate to Fey’s spoken language…American English.

“I’m not so bad,” John replied, “Everything is likely to be in order. Just the usual elevations associated with first day jitters.”

John was correct on his guess. The tricorder readings showed slightly increased heart rate and blood pressure, but nothing to be concerned with. His blood sugar levels were fine and he was generally in good health.

The tricorder would also show signs of some bruising on his torso and a cracked rib that had occured within the last few weeks. That along with marks around his wrists and ankles were healing, but no doubt had been painful when first inflicted.

The Doctor hummed a note of thought while observing the tricorder results. “So you say, care to tell me why you are injured and why you didn’t see a medical technician for it?” The doctor moved from the biobed to collect the tools she would need to work on the Lieutenant Commander’s injuries. “Cracked rib, bruising, ligature markings on wrist and ankles.” The doctor paused for a moment to give John a stern look that couldn’t really be seen in the dark or behind the goggles. “Were you interrogated by something aggressive?”
