Before visiting the ships counselor, John headed for sickbay for his boarding physical. There he expected to be subjected to all manor of scans and probing questions of an intimidate nature. As a doctor he had asked them many times…

Entering the sterile room, John headed to the waiting area…

The lights in the halls around Sickbay were all turned off or dimmed depending on how far out you were and when the doors opened, the waiting area was dark. Pairs of red glowing eyes were floating about the tables in the back covered with all manner of chemical experiments, some of which had a very slight glow themselves. Whispers fill the dark corner of the room and one of the shadows turns to face John, it’s red eyes larger than the others. With notable clops from heavy shoes, the larger shadow approaches the Lieutenant Commander. Once close enough a hand reaches through the darkness toward John, fingers that are clearly bony and too long to be natural reach for his shoulder. A deep and raspy female voice calls out to him, “Welcome Lieutenant Commander McHarrie, we’ve been expecting you.”

John was not familiar with the Doctor’s species or form of greeting and was unsure how what the socially acceptable responses should be and it took a few moments for the translator in his comm badge to translate the word into Welsh.

“Pnawn da. Mae’n debyg nad oes cyfrinachau ar y llong yma yna?” He said which he heard translated into Kastil’s language after short delay

“Good afternoon. I guess there are no secrets on this ship then” the artificial voice had said.

The issue with the delayed translation would resolve itself once their comm badges downloaded the relevant language files which usually only took a few minutes to do.
