When she was finished Casela racked her brain. Where to take her? Casela didn’t have ARU training or clearnace so she didn’t know if there was somewhere on those decks that might be more comfortable for Gen. She opted for the counseling deck. She didn’t want to take Gen back by Dave again. She offered her hand to Gen again and started walking. “What was the name of your ship?” This could give them a great bit of information about her and her family.

When they get to the counseling deck Sharah puts on Mozart for Gen.

OOC: This is so sweet! Great RPing, both of you :)

The girl went with her without issue and walked alongside Casela. She looked around her with apparent interest as they walked.

”I was born there…i liked the ship. I didn’t like the planets…theres no hum on the planets. It made me feel fuzzy.” she answered. As they arrived and the music started she found a space on the floor and just…sat. Listening with her eyes closed.

Casela nodded. She had been in space long enough to understand how going planet side could be very different and very disorienting. She decided not to ask about the name of the ship again. “Who was Zach? You mentioned him and your brother, Orion. What were your parents names?” If she could get their names, she could try to run a family history later.

”Zach was our brother. He was older, I liked Zach…Orion was a pest ” she looked thoughtful, as if trying to recall things from long ago. ”Zach said all little brothers and sisters are pests. But I wasn’t a pest.” she smiled again, that same ghost of a smile. ” well…sometimes I was. I put Rigellian spaghetti and sauce in his shoes one time…he was late for class and he got half way out of our quarters with them in his hand before he pulled them on. I could hear him yelling.”

Her brow furrowed as if she wasn’t sure how to answer the last question. ”Kenny…and Annie…my parents were called Kenny and Annie…” she said finally. A silence then.

“Gen,” Casela said her name, trying hard to stamp down the empathy she was feeling for the girl. She acknowledged she felt it, but she had to concentrate on helping Gen, not simply wanting to help her. “Where do you live now?”

Gen looked at her, her eyes glowing slightly. She then shrugged, ”I don’t know. I just am and sometimes I’m not.” she said.

Eventually the said ”What is your job on the ship? And why do you have that strange dog?”

Gen

Casela took a deep breath, and suppressed a sigh. That was the loaded question wasn’t it. “I am the ship’s counselor. My job is to help people when they are troubled or confused. I advise the captain and senior staff on all kinds of things.” She smiled, strange dog indeed. “I’m his handler. He is a tool that we use.” How much to tell her? Casela had soft spot for children and her policy had always been to be honest with them. Many children she had met had been lied to, tricked, their morals twisted. She had never been able to walk away from any of them. Even the ones turned into weapons. She had the scars and damaged bones to prove it. “The dog isn’t really a dog,he’s just a machine, and his structure is similar to an Earth k-9 but he isn’t anything like them. I guess I got the job because I’ve used these tools before, and everyone else is too busy to take the time.” Casela tried to answer her without giving away information that could endanger the ship. Her gut said Gen was no threat, but when it came to kids, she always strictly held to that opinion, even before she had the facts.

”He’s supposed to stop things from the other from getting into the now right?” she looked around again, ”You guys are like the other ships…” she said quietly.

Gen

Casela nodded, “Yes, we use the ‘dog’ to help us stop those things from doing things they shouldn’t.” Casela listened to Gen talk, “Yes, I guess we are. I hope that we do better than some of the other ones. Can you tell me what exactly happened on the Einstein. I know you said you left, but what’s out there? What hurt them?”
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

The girl shrugged. ”No…i don’t know. I left. I tried to warn them when they got too close but it will be what always happens. They will go mad.” she shrugged again and looked around at the walls.

Gen

Casela stopped her questioning. Gen seemed to be giving her what information she could. Whatever had happened to her she was still a child in many ways and perhaps didn’t understand what had happened to her. “Gen, would you like some place to sleep? Are your feet cold? I can get you some socks or slippers?”

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

Gen shook her head. ”No…i don’t get cold anymore.” she said simply and looked at her feet. ”But maybe some socks…would be nice.” she smiled slightly.

Gen

Casela smiled, and walked to the other side of the room where the replicator was. This room, the main room of the counseling deck, was large. There was room for art, yoga, meditation, and even some old fashioned puzzles. The idea was to provide the crew with calming activities to help them deal with whatever they were dealing with. Casela understood the reasoning and techniques, but she’d never really used them in her previous work. At the replicator Casela ordered a pair of socks, the same color as Gen’s sweater. They were plush micro suede so they would be warm and soft. She also ordered a full painters set. She brought them back over. She handed Gen the socks and then set up an easel. She placed a stretched canvas on it and then a stack of canvases on the floor next to her. There was also a large wooden suite case. Inside were oil and acrylic paints, several types of paint brushes, a painters pallet and painters knife (not sharp, but wide and with a rounded edge to help spread the paint).

“I thought, you might like to paint while you listen to the music.” Casela offered. She left Gen to decide what to do and moved to a table a little ways away. She wanted to be close for 2 reasons. The first that she wasn’t going to leave Gen alone yet, until they knew what to do for her. 2nd Gen seemed to stay very close to her, so she didn’t want her to feel that Casela had left her, but have the semblance of privacy while she worked. But Casela wanted to be far enough away to work on her search of the Star Fleet database.

The girl took the socks and carefully ran her hands over them. Her fingers rubbing along the material. Carefully she pulled them on and flexed her toes in the socks. Then as if captivated by the paints be and enthralled with mixing paints, she began to paint on the set up canvas seemingly content.

She sat down and entered several name into the data base: Kenny (or other variations) McCallister and Annie (and other variations) McCallister, Zach (or Zachary/Zacharias/or other variations) McCallister, Genesis McCallister, Orin McCallister

Next Casela did a search for ships that traveled into any area named or listed as the “unknown” and storms in space. She cross referenced those with the names of Gen’s family.

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS

The computer worked for a few minutes and the combination of names with the family name McCallister sent back a hit in the starfleet archives. Commander Kenneth McCallister - Executive officer USS Phantom, his wife Doctor Anna McCallisater (neé Jones) - Assistant Chief Medical Officer USS Phantom. Their children Cadet Zachary Kenneth McCallister aged 16, adopted son Orion Jackson McCallister aged 8 and their daughter Genesis Laurie McCallister aged 11. All last on the USS phantom. The ship was last sent to investigate a distress call from near Romulan space 5 years ago. The record showed that they had reported encountering some sort of storm and then nothing. The exact nature was unknown as no records had been recovered. The ship was lost with all hands and no trace found. Starfleet command decided that it had been a warp core breach and the young girl, currently painting black and dark blue clouds onto the canvas, and her family were declared KIA. A plaque was commissioned in the Phantom’s honour at star-fleet command.

Gen

Casela glanced at the young girl across the room to the file. She double checked the photos in the files against Gen now. They matched. So either something anomalys happened to Gen, or some anomaly took her form. She was going to get her to sickbay when she finished with her painting and then she was going to have to talk to the Captain. She was sure that their CSO GLaDOS would want to examine Gen. Casela sighed, she was going to have to trust they knew what they were doing. Several people had come on board and had not had their psych evals yet. She as going to remedy that very soon. But once the staff meeting was done she had to figure out what was wrong with the KAI-9 too.
