There’s a meeting here that needs to start, and you can explain to me all about how you got here and about the warnings you have for us.”
”No…” she said. ”They will need you for the briefing.”
Although the girl might look like a stowaway.... by now Andrea found just too many things wrong about the picture. Biggest of all, stowaways would attempt to hide, not disclose themselves even less so to senior staff. Her personality, how calm she was even when the whole room was looking at her, questioning her. How she looked was also somehow …off. Perhaps it was just a hologram?
Still she wasn’t sure, if this wasn’t some kind of test or a joke.
Lt. Andrea Stone, COS
Casela’s brief touch with Gen’s mind gave her the impression of a child. That didn’t mean that assumption was accurate, there were many things that could trick a telepath. “Gen, can you tell us why it isn’t safe?”
”Its a bad place. Bad things happen.” she said quietly, her eyes flickering to the wall again.
“Captain” she asked in lue of permssion to speak. (assuming yes) “As far as your instructions for the doctor and myself. I’ve reaquested records for teh crew of teh Einstien sot that we can compare them to whatever we find. Since the report mentioned mental distress I would suggest a neruosynapsis eval, you remember, the recorders and you look at pictures, for each person of the crew. So we have a current and norm to go by if something happens to our crew. However, given I had to track the entire crew, including senior staff down, to get evals done, because of the urgency of our departure,” Casela mentally eye rolled. Yeah she gave them all an out. Pathetic. “Unless you order it, it won’t happen.” It was the best recommendation she could give concerning their briefing from the Admiral. “Would you like me to take our guest,” she nodded at Gen, “to the mess hall, until you are finished here?” Gen might be a child and benine, or not. No need for her to hear what the command staff was saying.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSWilliam Hampton was relieved that the Chief of Security had arrived, and further relieved that unlike the rest of the senior staff, she seemed just as bothered by the intruder as he was. As she spoke to the lifeform, telling it to leave, Hampton surveyed his fellow staff members with a look of concern, why had they all been ok with this intruder in the first place?
He looked over at Stone and mouth ‘Thank you’ to her. “Captain we really can’t afford to have an unidentified intruder present at our briefings, however friendly her intentions are.” Hampton asserted stepping closer to the table.

At this point in the preceedings, Cobb had retreated back down into his chair and buried his head in his hands. He was, however, still absorbing all that was being said. Or in the case of some in the room, NOT being said.
“Aye, aye,” he spoke up, finally. “Someone please get her out of here. Ah…Counselor, would you mind taking our…guest here for ice cream or something? I’ll be sure to bring you up to speed on the rest of this briefing later.”
While he waited for the pair to depart, the captain turned his attention to the other officers present.
“Now, does anyone else have any surprises for me before I begin?”
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Casela nodded, “Of course Captain” Casela was happy to see Cobb more assured of himself, even if he didn’t realize he was. She turned to Gen. “Come on Gen, let’s go down to the mess hall and get something to eat.” She held her hand out for the girl. She also turned her own telepathy up some to make sure that no one was spying on the meeting. That only worked for a distance, but she did it anyway.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNSGen again surveyed the room. Her eyes glowed as quietly she turned her attention to both the security chief and the chief engineer. She started at them both, her gaze lingerie g on them longer than anyone else. The neon green, yellow of her irises seemed more vibrant somehow.
Then, without a word she took the counsellors hand, her skin was icy as if she had been outside in the cold but definitely tangible. She walked away allowing her self to be led out.
Gen
Thank the gods. The spybot had been removed from his briefing and now the curious, but all-too-disruptive, child as well. Finally it seemed as if Cobb would be able to deliver that well-rehearsed speech. Standing and straightening his tunic, he opened his mouth to speak…
Moments after Gen and Casela left, and crossing past them as she entered, GLaDOS entered the room. She glanced around, read the situation, then stepped forward and placed her PaDD on the table. “The requested information. Is everyone here? If so, I believe it is time to begin this meeting in earnest. I apologize for my lateness.”
Lt. Cmdr. GLaDOS, CSO
“Lt Commander,” the captain all-but-groaned in greeting, her assumption of control of this gathering not lost on Zachariah Cobb. “Ah, yes…if you could please take a seat. In truth you haven’t missed anything yet.” Only a new anomaly and a cryptic warning that we’re heading towards impending doom. But who’s keeping track, eh?
“So, as I was about to say,” he continued in a more commanding tone, for now choosing to ignore the PADD on the table, not yet ready to hand this moment over to the hovering Science Chief, “it might have happened sooner than we all expected. It definitely came sooner than we were prepared for, with the refit still being underway and all. But we are all Starfleet Officers and have been fully trained throughout our careers to be prepared, at any moment, for a mission to strike. As of fifteen-hundred hours today, that mission has indeed struck.”
He began to pace a limited path of five steps left and then right, hands clasped tightly behind his back, posture as straight as he could manage. His bad leg was beginning to burn and ache from the tension of the day’s events.
“Details have so far been…sparse. You’ll all have seen the Admiral’s briefing by now, I’d expect, but to summarise - we are en-route to the Paulson Nebula, where a civilian vessel, the USS Einstein, has fallen out of contact. Of course, us being specialised in the area that we are, that is not the end of it. Video messages seem to indicate that the crew encountered some kind of…” his pacing ceased, the captain seemingly unable to lend any mental energy to movement while he wrestled with the completion of his sentence. “…infection? We don’t yet know the exact nature of what assailed them. But what we do know, is that the symptoms resemble severe head trauma and, in some cases, paralysis.”
Finally he chose to acknowledge the PADD, nodding first towards it and then to the CSO as he continued, “Now I’ve had Lt Commander GLaDOS and Lt Synthi-er cross-compile a list of possible diagnoses and also possible…causes. I’m hoping you have something useful for us, Lt Commander?”
