Cobb had found no reason, other than pure, uninhibited curiosity, to step onto deck 13 before now. He’d heard about the peculiar containment units on this level and also a rumour that not all of them were empty. But in possession of neither the clearance, nor the balls, to approach the one called ‘Dave’ unaccompanied, so far Zachariah had stayed as far away as possible. But with their impending mission already a pandora’s box of confidential secrets, locations that offered the requisite security for a briefing of his senior staff were in short supply. And so it had made logical, and personally satisfying, sense, to commandeer for an hour or two the briefing room allocated to the RTF. So at a little before nineteen-hundred hours, Zachariah Cobb found himself stepping out of a turbolift onto deck 13 with all of the excitement and anticipation of a child at the funfair.
- Captain Zachariah Cobb
Ryder heard the turbo lift open before seeing the occupancy stepping out. The ship’s oldtimer captain appeared and growing closer the Trill executive officer nodded acknowledging Cobbs’s presence. He had been approaching from the other direction having been in the CIC as per the condition Blue protocol, which required one bridge officer at all times. So far all personnel had been accounted for less for a couple but that didn’t bother him as they still at one hour left to depart, especially when one of them was on a personal mission for him.
Waiting a while outside the room, Erve waited two minutes before the established Hour and entered with his Bajoran fashion inside what was his briefing room for the next years to come “Knock Knock,” he joked stepping in and looking at this wide room with an oval table in the center and a dozen seats all around. On the walls, also a dozen of weapons (standard and not) were hanged to show how beautiful those trinkets were. A golden plaque was fixed nearby the entrance and read the name “Giuseppe Garibaldi Briefing Room”, honoring the ancient combatant and general that fought with only a thousand soldiers across italy.
“Evening Captain,” Ryder said as the two men neared on another opposite the briefing rooms, he wasn’t sure if it was imaginary but he saw he could smell whiskey like an aura in the air.
- Commander Ryder, XO
“I am early or what?” The marine walked looking at the weapons put on the wall and then at the Ship Captain and at the XO with critique eyes “To be honest I couldn’t believe that this place was this fancy… but I guess it is good enough to talk about war, anomalies, ships stuff… right?”
M. Captain Erve Manhattan - RCO
OOC: fixed!
Casela walked into the briefing room and nodded politely to everyone present and then promptly ignored them for the weapons on the wall. She paced over taking them in. She itched to get ahold of and try some of the ones she was unfamiliar with, but she never touched someone else’s weapons. God’s they were gorgeous. And they were useful!! No replicas. Oh she had just found her most favorite room on the ship. She nodded making appropriate responses as necessary, but her focus was on a particularly wicked looking knife on the wall, an equally wicked grin on her face, and imagining all the ways she could use it. With a wistful I internal sigh she schooled her face and turned around to sit at the table.
Lt Synthi-erWith the heavy clop of her shoes on the floor, Doctor Fey Kastil enters the briefing room. She moved to her seat at the table, giving nods of acknowledgment to the people stunned by her appearance into stillness. As she took her seat, she pulled out a PaDD and started making notes of the room and people around her before the briefing started. She was still frustrated over the lack of preparedness for her Sickbay, but she would make due and find a way to make things work.
- Doctor Fey Kastil
Space was cold. That much was given as fact. It was a fact that often people in space found themselves taking time to get used to the cold, despite the environmental controls starships employed. Even with this technology no one would comment it in fact even notice now and then if a sudden split second chill went through the room. A shake of the head, a shrug of the shoulders and if it was particularly a bad one perhaps a comment of ’brr’. Back on earth in times gone by such an incident was often referred to as ’someone walking over a grave’ but culture had grown and it was unlikely that anyone still believed in such nonsense.
There was a chill in the room for a few seconds now, wether anyone noticed it was their own personal concern but it was there. And as the crew gathered together for their confidential breifing and their mission to come and sat waiting a voice added casually ”You know…i wouldn’t go in there if I were you.”
It was the sort of voice that sounded as though once it had laughed a lot. A melodious sweet tone, dampened by apathy. Almost…bored. As if it didn’t expect them to listen to it.
The voice belonged to a teenage girl. Long wavy brown hair over her shoulders and dressed in an oversized large dark grey coloured sweater and black leggings. She was now, inexplicably, sitting cross legged in the very center of the table. Her chin resting on her interlocked fingers and her elbows on her knees as she watched the intrepid crew, her neon coloured yellow/green eyes unerving and almost glowing in the ship light.
Gen
Casela raised a brow and the suddenly appearing girl. She glanced at Manhattan and then Cobb and Ryder. Her hands had been in her lab and she discreatly double tapped a button on her cuff that would summon Fenrir. Then she reached for a small kubaton on her waste band, but not drawing it. She carefully reached out telepathically to see what might actually be there.
Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/KAI9 HandlerFenrir’s optical and audio sensors or more commonly called his ‘ears’ activated as the signal from his handler requested his attendance, he stood and bolted out the door towards the origin of the signal which wasn’t too far away from being that he was on deck 14. It took him all of a few minutes having successfully navigating the corridors and not knocking anyone over, though scaring some crewman half to death as he passed them. “Cuire level anomaly detected, activating containment protocol” His voice gruffed a device ejecting from his midriff into the air and, it began glowing blue as its levels charged and then exploding, the device was harmless to all but beings composed of non-organic energy. The device wouldn’t harm, RTFs task wasn’t to harm or destroy but to apprehend and make safe anomalies where possible so it would simply incapacitate the subject.
Ryder watched this all unfold in a matter of minutes watching Fenrir charge into the room, fire, and attempt to contain the being which had seemingly floated through his bulkheads and into life. “We haven’t even left yet” Was his thoughtless words as if in disbelief any of this was already happening. He finally gained his composure to see the result of Fenrir’s containing protocol.
- Cmdr Ryder, XO
Casela watched as Fenrir launched his trap. She’d had him set to passive mode, summoning him here, no matter what he detected should have broke that without her word. Someone messed with his settings! She swore if it was someone in the maintenance bay heads would roll. Children! The lot of them. If it was a malfunction that could be a bigger problem. However she stayed in her seat and waited. She glanced at Ryder though, one brow raised, indicating their previous conversation about not walking around with someone prepared. Her look said, See we never know when or what will happen. The sad thing was there were weapons everywhere and no one knew what to do.
