Casela was reading over personnel files and had just gotten to the command staff. Another indication of her disregard for rank, she figured the people actually going to go take care of the stuff the ship was sent after was more important than the person giving the orders. She started to pick up the file on the XO when her comm chirped. =/\= Lt. Synthi-er we have a package for you down here on Deck 14 in the ARU unit. These guys are pretty insistent that only you can receive it. Do you mind, ma’am?=/\= Ma’am? Ugh such formality. =/\=I’ll be right there.=/\= she tapped her comm badge off and grinned. She knew EXACTLY what was down the ARU unit for her and she couldn’t wait to get a hold of it. Casela moved swiftly and silently through the rest of deck 33 to the turbolift designated for the ARU unit. Using her access badge she got on the turbolift and then stepped out on Deck 14. She walked down the cooridor and into the Artificial Artefact Recovery Meck Maintenance bay. The KAI9 had arrived.

Casela looked over the container carefully. It had better not be damaged. The larger of the two containers would be the actual KAI9, but the smaller one would be the various attachments. “Open it up,” she told the crewmen who’d brought it aboard. She stepped back and watched to make sure they didn’t damage it. She leaned a shoulder against the wall with her arms crossed, all her weight on one leg and the other crossing it just above the ankle. She looked relaxed and some what board. Once they had the crate off, Casela walked around the the KAI9 slowly, PaDD in hand going through the check list to ensure there was no damage. Then she had the crewmen open the accessories crate. She didn’t unpack that. The RnD would do that. It was their job to maintain the equipment and the KAI9 once it was received and activated. It was her job to put it through its paces. “Alright you guys might want to go take a break while I turn this bad boy on.” After they left Casela reached around to a small access port behind and slightly below the right shoulder blade and flipped the switch.

The KAI9 powerd on and came to it’s full height on all four legs. The gears, sensors, servos and optical sensors whirled to life. “Oh aren’t you a thing of beauty.” She went through the power up checklist and was pleased when everything was “Alright let’s get you activated.” Casela pulled up the start up sequence on the PaDD and initiated the sequence. From the “mouth” came the command prompts in a very computerized voice, “Please state start-up sequence code.”

“Romeo-epislon-4-5-8-3-zeta” Casela read the code off the PaDD”
“Please state handler access code.”
This was a code Casela had pre-selected, “Indigo-Buck-1-4-3-Omega”
“Access codes verified, please designate Handler and recognition options”
“Name: Casela Surname: Synthi-er. Optical, Palm, Voice”
The KAI9 then requested she provide an optical scan, palm scan, and give several voice commands.
“Please give name of secondary handler.”

Casela had chosen to name the RTF Commander as the secondary handler. His record was impressive and though she could choose not to have a back up she knew that was wrekless. “Captain Erve Manhattan. Not present, Identify and verify at later time.” Casela then had to input the names of the RnD staff that would work on the KAI9. She left them a note that the KAI9 was activated and they would need to verify their access with her present so that they would be able to work on it.
“Please give identification for KAI9”
Casela grinned, she got to name it. “Fenrir”
“Name assigned, please choose voice and personality parameters.”

Casela took her time having a great deal of fun with that part. In the end she was happy with the result. “Complete activation sequence.” She had to use her voice, palm, and optical commands again, but this would be the last time. Unless she locked the KAI9 down only one access code would be needed.
“Activation complete.”

Casela called the crewmen back in and signed for the KAI9 and dismissed them. “Alright big boy, let’s see how you do.” She stepped into the hallway, something simple, “Fenrir follow, standby mode.” The KAI9 followed it’s sensors active but weapons off. She decided she needed to go to the station to pick up a few things before the disembarked and this beautiful thing was going with her.

Lt. Synthi-er, CNS/KAI9 Handler

“Follow and Standby mode activated” Replied Fenrir its sensors running at 100%, “Lieutenant Synthi-er” The robotic canine said its word slower trying out the first non-systematic word as the Artificial Intelligence began to take over its built-in tests running in the background but the Lieutenant had forgotten to turn of the audible notifications “Sensors functional… Mobility functional, weapons offline, visual and audio systems functional, processing speed nominal.” Fenrir’s enhanced scanner and optical component began to move to sweep the room, “Active sensor sweep activated. Four unknown Humanoid life signs.”

Casela watched as Fenrir went thought activing he’s different systems. “Yes I’m Lt. Synthi-er,” she pronounced it slowly allowing the AI to pick up and recognize the sounds. “Fenrir, report visual scan.”
