Lieutenant Nyman had been observing Kaylin since she came onboard. At first he couldn’t believe it. Was it really her?. It must be. Vendorians had very good memory for those sorts of things. He felt compelled to say something. But what would he say? He couldn’t discuss their previous encounter out in public. Would she even remember him? Likely not. Especially not as he was now.
But one day, as they brushed past each other in the hallway he decided to speak up.
“Ms.Wilde…” he began, putting on a warm smile and turning back toward her.
She stopped, turned around glared up from her PaDD.
“Yes?”
“I’m Chief Counselor Todd Nyman,” he continued, cheerful as ever, “I just wanted to officially say, welcome aboard.”
“Right…” she replied, “Your the guy who’s been following me around.”
His expression dropped, and for once he was speechless. The realization was like a phaser blast to the chest. Kaylin put away the PaDD and folded her arms, a scowl coming across her face,
“Look, I kind of get it. Former criminal turned Star Fleet officer. Pretty fascinating case, right?”
Nyman sensed her hostility, and reactively pulled himself back. The question was rhetorical, but regardless he was still a little too shaken up to respond. So Kay continued,
“And I’m sure you are very excited to have several long, deep, emotional conversations where you dive into my past trauma and help me heal from my psychological wounds.”
“Well…” he said, temporarily snapping out of frozen state but not all the way back to reality,
“Would you like to?”
Kay rolled her eyes, and mumbled “You can’t be serious…”
“Wait, Ms. Wilde I -“
She walked off before Nyman could say anything else. He could feel himself turning red. It wasn’t just because he got caught. He felt stupid for just following her around in the first place without saying anything. It obviously made her uncomfortable. Of course she wouldn’t want to talk to him after that. This was not reunion he was expecting, and it was all his fault.

The quiet hum of her anti-grav chair was the only sound that indicated Laural’s movement down the corridor. She liked to get out of her office on occasion just to clear head and it was a good opportunity to say hello to crewmembers she might not otherwise encounter and to check in informally. She was about to say hello to someone she recognized as new to her, but the way the other woman moved down the corridor, quickly and all business, Witley got the sense this is not the right time for a simple hello. Still, she considered saying something as it seemed apparent something was wrong, but as she approached, she could see just a bit further down, Nyman was standing up ahead, looking a bit perplexed.
As she approached him, she offered, “Are you okay?”

He stood there and blinked, before shaking himself back to the present. At first only answering Witley’s question with a small shrug.
“I’m afraid I … I wasn’t expecting that reaction.”
Nyman looked over at her and smiled, even laughing a little at himself,
“I’m not sure what I was expecting, really. After all these years finally- you know never mind. I had her assigned for an onboarding exam. But maybe you would be a better person to handle that.”

At that moment, a turbolift door at the opposite end of the corridor opened to reveal Lieutenant Ashara Mavix, her hair tied in a long ponytail, Trill spots adorning her bidy right down to the collar of her uniform shirt. Her phaser pistol lay holstered on her left side, with a tricorder pocketed on her right. At the sight of the two counselors, she grinned slightly and jogged over, “Howdy, hope Ah’m not interuptin’ anything?”
-Lieutenant Ashara Mavix: Chief of Security-
“No, of course not.” Nyman said with another smile. His eyes glanced between the two for a moment. This was actually good. Meeting both of them here gave him an opportunity to… investigate something. He just had to be subtle.
“You ladies seem to be the only ones interested in talking to me these days,” he said, running his hand through his hair and making an effort to blush. Something he had learned from a holonovel. After a small laugh, followed by a sigh, he did his best to look despondent.

“Ah’m the Security Chief Counselor,” Ash replied, “Would you expect much less?”
-Lieutenant Ashara Mavix: Chief of Security-
Nyman nodded thoughtfully,
“I suppose not. But I was kind of referring to something outside of professional relationships. But I guess that’s not the way she sees it. To her I’m just the Chief Counselor, and she wants nothing to do with that.”

Ash arched an eyebrow, “And she is?”
-Lieutenant Ashara Mavix: Chief of Security-
“You know the new helm officer?” he asked, but meant it more as an answer to Ash’s question.
“We met once, a while ago. I wanted to see if…” he trailed off, flashing a little side smile,
“But probably not. I’m not exactly the same person I was back then either.”

Ash grinned, “Ah wasn’t expecting to walk into yer life story Counselor,” she turned to the other woman, “Sorry, have we met?”
