A figure clad in a red, gold and black exoskeleton materialises in the corridor outside main engineering their presence ominous and foreboding.

Without hesitation, the figure unleashed a burst of energy from their weapon, striking down two unsuspecting officers who had been in the wrong place at the wrong time. The corridor echoed with the sound of their stunned cries, a grim reminder of the danger lurking just beyond the ship’s bulkheads.

The figure’s assault does not end there. With a swift and calculated motion, they kneel down and armed what appeared to be a grenade, its ominous glow casting eerie shadows against the metallic walls. With a precise throw, the grenade soared through the air and into main engineering, where it detonates with a deafening roar. It’s intent to stun not maim.

Chaos erupted within the heart of the ship as alarms blared and emergency protocols were initiated.

Meanwhile, the figure stood unmoved in the corridor waiting for the weapon to finish its job, their identity shrouded in mystery behind the imposing red exoskeleton. It was clear that they were no ordinary intruder, but rather a formidable adversary with unknown intentions and capabilities. The figure seemingly content with the correct progress enter main engineering.

Ruuk was stood in Engineering when the sudden chaos broke out. Panic filled his entire body and he froze for a moment as he watched the Grenade bounce into Main Engineering and detonate. Then his attention was drawn to the two injured officers. The relative calm of an Engineering Department quietly at work was shattered and Ruuk’s world suddenly seemed to be crumbling and falling away from him.
A terrifying thought snapped him out of his panicked stupor ‘The Warp Core!’ He thought to himself as his mind quickly imagined what might have happened if that Explosive had landed closer to it.
His ears still ringing, Ruuk set off running, grabbing a Phaser on the way, to a near by console. As he ran he thumped the comm badge on his chest =/\=”Security! Intruder Alert in Engineering!”=/\= He yelled over the sounds of the Alarms, Alerts and the general chaos that was unfolding around him.
Once he reached the console, he started tapping away. “Take some Cover where you can!” He shouted to his Engineering Staff. “We need to start securing critical systems!”
For a brief moment Ruuk felt sorry for himself as all of his worst nightmares seemed to be happening to him all at once. He hadn’t been Chief Engineer for very long and now everything was going so very wrong. He set about carrying out his own instruction, but hesitated for a moment. He felt like he didn’t know what to do. This was an unprecedented situation for him.
He was working quickly, every so often he glanced at the doorway before carrying on tapping away the console.

Despite the valiant efforts of the under-armed engineering officers, the imposing figure pressed onward into engineering, exhibiting a determination that suggested a clear objective in mind. The scene was chaotic, with several engineers sprawled on the floor, their fates uncertain.

In a bold but ill-fated attempt to halt the figure’s advance, one stout-hearted engineer brandished fine adjusting tool, aiming it at the figure’s imposing exoskeleton. However, the anticipated effect fell short, as the figure merely flinched, demonstrating an unsettling resilience. Even more alarming was the subsequent reaction: a surge of energy rippled through the exoskeleton, sending the petty officer careening across the floor, his hair standing on end from the encounter with the mysterious force.

As the injured petty officer received aid from a fellow crew member, the figure paused momentarily, glancing over their shoulder as if to observe the petty officers well being before moving on directly towards the engineer known as Ruuk.

Ruuk’s body ran cold with fear. He felt at a total loss of how to respond. In a panic hurry he held his Phaser in both hands and aimed it the creatures head. However, he had no intention of firing the weapon, based on how it had already responded to attempts made at it, he had more than a sneaking suspicion that it would do little to impede the creature.
“Stop this attack, and tell me what you want from us!” He barked at the creature.
As the creature moved towards him, Ruuk wasn’t expecting a response from it, as the upcoming confrontation played out in Ruuk’s mind, he anticipated being batted to one side, or simply being smitten down on the spot.
The best that Ruuk could hope for at this moment, was delaying or distracting the Creature long enough to enable his Engineers to try and get to safety.

The intruder loomed over Ruuk, casting a shadow that seemed to swallow the light around them. If Ruuk glanced up, he would now discern the humanoid features beneath the figure’s ominous exterior. The armour, a deep crimson verging on black, encased the intruder like a sinister shroud. Its helmet, with an opaque black visor, concealed any trace of humanity within.

In a voice that resonated with an eerie, robotic cadence, the intruder spoke. “Do not interfere, Lieutenant,” it intoned, its words dripping with malice rather than concern. The threat hung heavy in the air, casting a chilling pall over the tense encounter.

Kit had been on her way down to engineering to ask if it would be possible to create a small but reliable containment cell. She had just recently acquired two Ceti eels, the only known Ceti Alpha V indigenous life forms, and she worried the current system was not adequate to contain the creatures. Starfleet wanted her to study these two specimens to see if it would reveal any secrets to repopulating and claiming the planet as a terraforming project.
She had just stepped out of the turbolift when the ship was plunged into total darkness. Lieutenant Thenis immediately knelt down in the darkness. It only lasted for half minute at most when the lighting resumed, followed almost immediately by the red alert klaxon. In the red glow of the red alert lighting, she saw a figure in what appeared to be red, gold, and black, was that an exoskeleton. Then the figure began firing an energy weapon. Kit gracefully and quietly moved forward. she kept out of the individuals’ line of sight and followed. She watched the exchange in the main engineering. She watched as Chief Engineer Ruuk held a phaser up in both hands and the intruder speak. Crap, what to do she thought.

With an unsettling absence of emotion, the attacker swiftly detached a device from its left arm and inserted it into a user access port within the main engineering console. The console flickered to life, displaying a chaotic flurry of numbers and figures as the device initiated its assault on the ship’s internal systems. Moments passed in tense anticipation until the figures on the screen abruptly halted, prompting the humanoid figure to input the access code to initiate the warp core ejection.

”=^=WARP CORE EJECT SEQUENCE INITIATED=^=” blared the ship’s computer, signalling the imminent jettison of the core into space. “=^=WARP CORE EJECTION IN 60 SECONDS=^=” it urgently added, heightening the tension onboard. Stepping back, the figure surveyed the engineering consoles as arcs of pure energy surged through them, causing explosions and rendering the consoles lifeless. It was evident that the entity was determined to prevent any interference with its plans.

Casting a glance towards Ruuk, the figure emitted an almost human sigh before delivering a remorseful message. “I am sorry,” it murmured, then swiftly deployed a concealed weapon attached to its right wrist, firing two small devices that immobilized Ruuk’s hands. “You would be the only one to stop this, and I cannot allow that,” it explained calmly, yet with unmistakable resolve. With a deliberate tap above its heart, the figure activated a transporter and vanished from sight, leaving behind a scene of impending crisis.

Kit rushed forward into the main engineering and snapped at those engineers who were not injured or unconscious, “Get to work and get the systems up. Notify CiC we need a workbee sent out to retrieve the damn warp core.” She then knelt next to Lieutenant Ruuk and checked to see if he was still alive. Kit cursed in Orion as she took in the chaos of engineers coming out of their stupor and acting to take care of the ship.

Ruuk looked down at his hands. He couldn’t feel them, nor move them. He let out a panicked cry and looked to Lieutenant Thenis. He didn’t know what to do, without his hands he was almost useless. The best he could was bark commands at the Computer. He felt a terrible sense of woe, what good was he going to be now!? He looked Thenis in the eyes “Please help.” He said pathetically as he tried to pick himself up off of the ground.
“Computer!” He screamed above the fizzing and popping of exploding consoles and machinery. “Computer, manual override of Warp Core Ejection. Authorization Ruuk Omega Theta 2 2 yellow!” He didn’t expect it to work, but it was the only thing he could think to do.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

There was no response from the Computer as if it simply didn’t not hear him or his code was in effective, his command was finally met when the sound of the warp core was ejected at first the hissing as the gravlocks disengaged and then metallic scratching as it was jettisoned.

A few minutes later the Devices on his hands would drop of, his hands would feel numb and the sensation of pins and needles would linger for a little while but less for the memory of the ordeal there would be no long lasting damage.

Kit cursed under her breath in Orion yet again as she slowly helped the Chief Engineer, “Okay Lieutenant Ruuk just relax, we can recover the core with a worker bee. We need to get you to sickbay.” She looked about and snapped everyone get back to your work stations and fix this ship. We got a hell of a lot to do and a short time to get it done.” She then slapped her combadge =/\=Medical I need multiple corpsman to engineering, we have wounded, stun damage mainly but still have a mass casualty incident. =/\= She looked at Lieutenant Ruuk, “Best estimate on getting the core. placing it back and getting it up and running?” she only asked to get the lieutenant to focus and ignore the damage.

An engineer joined them with a small first aid kit, “Lieutenants, all the consoles in engineering have somehow been deactivated. We will need to replace all the key components before we can even think about putting the warp core back in” She added, “that looks painful, here apply some of this bio med gel” She handed it to the Lieutenant to administer himself. “Work has begun to get some consoles back but whatever, who ever that was took out almost every on-duty engineer they relly wanted to cripple us but theres been no serious injuries.

“Thank you” Ruuk said as he took the gel and tentative applied it. “And thank you, Lieutenant” His hands where still mostly numb and felt very inoperable.
He turned and faced where the Warp Core used to be. It was strange to see how much bigger engineering looked without the beating heart of the ship in situé. He stood and thought about the Warp Core drifting through space. Had this situation not been so dire and dangerous, it could almost have been funny.
“I never thought I’d have to say this in my Career, but, we need to retrieve the Warp Core as soon as possible. However, when it comes to reinstalling it, I’ve no idea how long it will take. I’ve never had to re-site a Warp Core before…” He said in dead earnest. “Meanwhile, we should focus on getting critical systems restored - that is if whatever the hell that was has gone…”
He tried to wiggle his fingers. There was movement, but it was very slight, it would be a little while before he could be of any real use.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

Kit chuckled slightly “Well re-siting a warp core is your issue, I believe there is a joke on Earth ‘It might help to put some hair around it’. Here allow me to finish putting the gel on your hands.” Kit then instantly grabbed his hands in a very, quick and professional manner, like a masseuse, she had the bio med gel on, and reduced the numbness. “There, that should be better.”

Lieutenant Kitiuas Thenis, Science
USS Leviathan

Ruuk flexed his fingers again “Much better, Thank you. And thank you for your help down here. I don’t know how to repay you” he said as he brushed himself off slightly.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

“Well, once we get this mess all organized and past us; I have a project I need help with.” replied Kit with a smile.

Lieutenant Kitiuas Thenis, Science
USS Leviathan

“I’d be more than happy to oblige” Ruuk smiled kindly.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk

=/\= “Maxwell to Engineering, ” =/\= a call came from the CIC, =/\= “Any way we can use the shields to stop anyone from beaming off the ship, whether they use our system or not?” =/\=

Lieutenant Bradley Maxwell
Chief Medical Officer

=/\= “Engineering here”=/\= Ruuk answered. =/\=” Can you give me 10 mins? We are almost there with them.”=/\= The engineering team had been working hard to reinstate key systems following the attack.

Ruuk tapped away and worked busily before tapping his Comm Badge.

=/\=Engineering to Maxwell. Shields should now be operative. I hoping they’ll be stable, but caution is advised.”=/\=

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

The engineering crew would find that all but warp systems were operational, the ship still needed to get the core back and reinitialise it.

(Some time later….)

Hazel entered or rather reentered Engineering, the last time she was here she had just assaulted several engineers and left the chief engineer incapacitated even if so temporarily, she felt a slight pang of guilt but luckily for her none would know it was her. “Where is the chief engineer?” She asked hoping to help where she could.

Commander Hazel Loughty
Starfleet Temporal Agent

Ruuk was bent down busily working at one of the stations when he heard the mystery guest. “Over here” he said wearily as he straighten himself up, both of his hand rested on his lower back as he carefully stretched himself out. Ruuk look tired and bedraggled. Things in Engineering were still chaotic in the fallout of recent events.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

Hazel approached the Chief and walked over to him, feeling a pang of guilt as she asked, “How is your hand, Lieutenant?” Her AI chimed in urgently in her ear, reminding her, No! You would only know if you were here, Commander! Ignoring the AI, Hazel continued smoothly, “I was sent down to assist in preparing the ship to defend itself from the incoming vessel. I have an idea involving the warp core—by destabilizing our warp bubble and creating a reverse polarity effect, we could potentially disrupt the spatial-temporal stability of the incoming ship, preventing it from jumping between timelines.”

“My Hand?” Ruuk said, puzzled. “It’s quiet alright, thank you” He answered, confusion evident in his voice.
Ruuk listened closely to suggestion that the Commander. He froze up slightly at the mention of the warp core - given what had recently happened he felt more cautious than ever.
“This sounds… risky” Ruuk said.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

“Well it’s either that or we let the ship and the temporal teapot impact with the Leviathan and fracture the ship across different planes of existence” she stated coldly. “Unless you have a better idea?”

=^=All hands, this is Captain Henao. We are approaching a black hole. Follow all protocols, ensure anomalies are secured, and prepare for …the unknowable. Henao out.=^=

Hazel stopped short, “Wait… that shouldn’t happen!” She turned on her heel and ran as fast as she could back the way she came only stopping shortly before leaving engineering “Start working in the warp bubble!” And she was off.

Ruuk was left in a daze as the mystery commander stormed off. So many unanswered questions stalled on Ruuk’s lips. “Okay then…” He muttered quietly to himself before turning around and speaking to so of the current Engineering shift. He explain the situation - as best he could, at any rate - and set the team on beginning implementing the changes the Commander proposed.

Lieutenant Dayner Ruuk
Chief Engineer/Containment Architect

The ship was impacted by the oddly named S.S. Teapot. The combined temporal effects of the black hole and the Teapot caused the Leviathan to act as a sort of magnet for two different generations of tachyons. They swirled around the ship, the light-distorting effect of the black hole making them visible to the human eye. Anyone looking at the viewscreen would see the ship spinning on its axis. Shadows of the ship rippled through space-time, creating a disorienting effect as every movement appeared blurry, like watching oneself in multiple layers of mirrors all moving at different speeds.

“CAUTION: BLACK HOLE EVENT HORIZON PROXIMITY OUTSIDE OPERATING PROCEDURES. CAUTION: BLACK HOLE EVENT HHHOOOORRRRIIIZZOOOOOON…” The computer’s voice sounded and repeated, though the audio started to become distorted, the words being drawn out as the black hole’s temporal effects took hold. The ship slowly, quickly, and repeatedly spun towards the event horizon, with the S.S. Teapot jammed into the forward decks like a wedge, causing a rip in the fabric of space.
