As the Lieutenant got done with everything else around him, he then finally paid the captain a visit. Lieutenant Matthews is in a good mood he’s willing to meet his new boss. His new boss is the commanding officer of the ship. He said to the turbo lift. “Bridge.” He had said to the computer. The turbo lift doors closed and then it took off sending him to the bridge. By the time he got to the bridge, he then got to the ready rooms doors and rang the chime. He stood their patiently awaiting to hear the captain.

Lieutenant Matthews -COO-

Oliver observed the new face entering the CIC. The lieutenant, whom he recognized from the profile, was Lieutenant Matthews, a Vulcan-Human officer. Based on his name, Oliver surmised that he leaned more towards his human heritage than Vulcan. He couldn’t recall if he had last seen the captain in the ready room. While the lieutenant waited, Oliver decided to take the opportunity to greet the newcomer. Walking over to where he stood, Oliver cleared his throat and then introduced himself, “Lieutenant, I am Commander Loughty, the ship’s executive officer.”

“Hello commander. I am Lieutenant Matthews. But somehow I recognize you from somewhere commander. Where did we meet last? Or should I ask when did we meet last? Or when was the last time we saw each other. I recall as my half human side knows best, we were in the same class together and graduated yes?” He ask all these questions.

Chief of Operations Matthews

Somewhat puzzled by the torrent of questions, Oliver finally answered, “Actually, I am unsure.” His response was honest, and if they had met before, he wished he could remember it. “Perhaps it was while I was teaching at the Academy rather than going through it myself?” He offered this as a possible answer. “I hope your journey here wasn’t too long.”

“Not at all commander. I heard an old friend was here himself. However, he had told me that it was time for him to leave. So, I thought I’d let had best that I offer myself as ships Chief Operations Officer. But other than that commander. My journey wasn’t all that long.” He said.

Lieutenant Matthews

Oliver nodded, understanding the transient nature of Starfleet assignments. “It’s unfortunate your paths couldn’t cross for longer, but such is the nature of our service,” he remarked, a hint of nostalgia tinging his voice of serving with friends gone, some forgotten some not. “I’m glad your journey here wasn’t too arduous, though.” Oliver’s curiosity about his impressions of the ship piqued. “And how are you finding the Leviathan so far, Lieutenant? Any initial impressions or observations?” he inquired, eager to hear the perspective of their new Chief Operations Officer.

“She is a great ship. Starfleet has such a good crew from what I’ve noticed sir. I’m really impressed.” He had said.

Lieutenant Matthews.

Oliver nodded approvingly at Matthews’ positive assessment. “Indeed, the Leviathan is a fine vessel, and her crew is second to none,” he concurred, a sense of pride evident in his voice. “I’m glad to hear you’re impressed, Lieutenant.” Oliver shifted his focus to the operational aspect of Matthews’ new role. “Given your expertise, Lieutenant, what plans do you have for operations aboard the Leviathan?” he inquired, curious to hear how Matthews intended to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in their operations.

“And if I may ask,” Oliver continued, “what kind of leadership style do you typically adopt? Collaboration and teamwork are essential aboard a starship, after all.” He leaned in attentively, eager to glean insights into Matthews’ approach to leadership.

“Well sir. I do have it all written down right here on my PaDD here if you’d like to take a look at it. I have two padds for two things. One of them is my approval of transfer to this vessel and this PaDD is with everything else sir.” As he handed his two PaDDs to the commander. Knowing that he has written about almost a dozen types of things like this on his second PaDD.

Lieutenant Matthews.

Oliver accepted the two PaDDs, grateful for the effort Lieutenant Matthews had invested in them. He scanned through the contents, albeit not as swiftly as an android could, taking his time to absorb the information. As they walked together, Oliver nodded in approval.

“These are worthwhile initiatives, Lieutenant,” he remarked, offering a genuine smile. “I have no doubt that Operations will thrive under your guidance.”

As they strolled along the corridor, Oliver’s curiosity was piqued. “I’m intrigued,” he began, turning to Matthews. “You attended the Romulan Academy, so what drew you to Starfleet?”
