Posted by… suppressed (37) by the Post Ghost! 👻It was about 30 minutes or so before another Romulan officer was at the door. This time delivering Nyman’s uniform. The Lieutenant met them at the threshold, pulling the uniform out of the officer’s grasp without a word. They seemed slightly phased, but soon turned their attention to the Commander,
“Commander Loughty, Commander Kerax wishes to speak with you, alone.”
After the other’s left, Nyman took a moment to inspect the uniform. Finding nothing unusual except that his comm badge was missing. Nyman slipped it on over his medical gown, mumbling something indecipherable. Then, walking back over to the table, he once again sat and thought.
“Saoir,” he began to ask, “What have you found so far? Anything useful?”
|Lt. Nyman,
Chief Counselor|Saoir glanced up from his inspection of the panels, his expression neutral. “Not much yet, sir,” he replied, his tone measured. “The systems seem to be in disrepair, possibly due to neglect or recent damage. I’m still assessing for any hidden surveillance equipment or other anomalies.”
Saoir couldn’t help but wonder about the missing comm badge. It seemed like a deliberate omission, raising further suspicions about their predicament. But he kept his thoughts to himself, waiting for any further instructions from his superior. Glancing around the room once more, Saoir made a mental note to double-check for any signs of hidden threats. Trust was a luxury they couldn’t afford especially with the way the Romulans had interrupted their transport.

(Transporter/Security)Further investigations yielded nothing significant. But that itself suggested something, at least to Nyman.
“They weren’t prepared for us…” he pondered out loud, “They weren’t prepared to take captives. But at the same time it wasn’t necessary to bring us aboard either. They could’ve flown right by us under cloak and we wouldn’t have known about it. They needed something from us. Saoir,”
He abruptly stood up from the table and turned around to face the Ensign,
“What exactly did they tell you about the state of the ship? Did they mention anything about what happened to it, or indicate why they might need our help to repair it, anything like that?”

Chief Counselor|(Bumped, Snipped, and New Tag)
Saoir took in Nyman’s words, the counselor’s observations resonated with him, adding weight to his own suspicions.
“They didn’t give much detail, sir,” Saoir replied, his tone steady as he recalled the conversation with the Romulan officers. “They simply stated that the ship had experienced significant damage and that they required our assistance to repair it. No specifics were provided regarding the cause of the damage or why they couldn’t handle it themselves.”
As he spoke, Saoir couldn’t shake the feeling of unease settling in the pit of his stomach. The Romulans’ evasiveness only heightened his sense of caution. “They seem to be…accommodating in every way, but I can’t shake the feeling that they’re withholding crucial information.” Saoir continued, “It’s as if they’re manipulating us into helping them without revealing their true intentions.” Saoir didn’t like being held captive even if the accommodations were inviting. “Counselor, I … I do not do well in captivity. It bring up old scars of my past. My people… we were....” His voice trailed off, this wasn’t a time to be speaking about his weakness, what if the Romulans were spying on them?Ensign Saoir
(Transporter/Security)Noticing his distress, Nyman got up and went over to Saoir.
“I understand,” he said. A calm reassuring quality in his voice. “I… I don’t like it either, but I know why it might be hard for you especially.”
He reached out toward the Ensign, appearing to offer some sort of comforting gesture. But halfway he pulled back. The thought had crossed his mind. He would be helping Saoir, he thought. The Ensign could stay here and he could leave, alone. Not putting anyone in any more danger as he looked for the others.
The only problem with that plan was that in reality, Lieutenant Nyman knew he couldn’t do it himself. He didn’t have the technical ability to track down the others. He didn’t have the strength, physically or emotionally, to face an entire ship of Tal’Shiar agents. He knew he needed Saoir’s help.
“Saoir,” he started, adjusting the sleeve of his uniform, “Hypothetically speaking, if that door were to just suddenly open, how many guards do you think would be immediately on the other side? One or two?”
After pausing for an answer, Nyman took a few steps closer. With an elegant flick of his wrist, like a skilled illusionist, he pulled a black access card out of his sleeve. It looked similar to the one Sen’ton had used when entering the room. After showing it, he just as quickly slipped it back into place. Not just showing off his party tricks but to prevent any cameras they might have missed from getting a good look. A hint of his smile returned as he followed up with another, quieter question,
“Do you think we can take them?”
|Lt. Nyman,
Chief Counselor|
He appreciated the counselor’s effort to reassure him, but he still felt vulnerable. He couldn’t help but wonder how Ensign Jackson would criticize him for showing weakness at this moment.
Saoir glanced at the closed door, imagining what might lie beyond it. He contemplated Nyman’s question about the guards, weighing the possibilities. “Hard to say,” he replied, his voice filled with uncertainty. “But even if there are just one or two, they might not be alone for long. And we don’t know what other security measures they have in place.”
As Nyman revealed the access card, Saoir’s eyes widened slightly. The glimmer of hope showed within him. He was very impressed that the Counselor was able to swipe the card from one of them. But it was quickly overshadowed by caution. “It’s risky,” he murmured, his gaze setting on the counselor’s face. “We don’t know what awaits us out there. And if we’re caught…” His voice trailed off, the unspoken consequences hanging heavily in the air. It was at times like this he wished he was a shapeshifter like a Changeling.
Saoir took a deep breath, his mind trying to piece together different scenarios. He knew they couldn’t stay trapped in this room forever, but they needed a plan, a strategy. “We need more information,” he said finally, “Before we do anything, we’ve got to figure out what we’re dealing with. And we’ve got to find a way to tell the others we’re stuck here.” He paused, looking to Nyman. “When they questioned you, did they give away any hints about their plans? Or did you notice anything that might help us out?”
