Out-Of-Character Context This post invites all members of the crew, regardless of rank, to engage in an ongoing, free-flowing discussion. Here, they can reflect on past missions, share gossip, or simply catch up on the latest news. It serves as a creative outlet, allowing writers to take a break from main simulations and relax in a casual setting with only one rule: have fun!
In the heart of the USS Leviathan’s bustling Crew Lounge, a section has been expertly cordoned off to fashion a more intimate and exclusive recreational area. A tasteful partition, adorned with ambient lighting, delineates this dedicated space, immediately creating a sense of privacy and exclusivity.
Upon entering this enclave, the low hum of conversation blends seamlessly with the rhythmic clatter of a table tennis match in progress. The self-serve bar, elegantly designed and stocked with an array of beverages, beckons crew members to indulge in a moment of relaxation. Replicators positioned strategically along the sidewalls offer an assortment of snacks and refreshments, catering to diverse tastes.
Amidst the friendly banter and laughter, a pool table takes center stage, drawing in enthusiasts eager for a quick game or a leisurely match. The distinctive thud of darts hitting the target adds a touch of spirited competition to the atmosphere. At a nearby daboo wheel, crew members try their luck, their expressions a mix of anticipation and excitement.
Strategically placed booths offer cozy corners for more private conversations or group gatherings, and larger tables accommodate lively poker games or chess matches. Holoscreens strategically dispersed around the area broadcast the latest news updates and sporting events, providing crew members with a connection to events beyond the ship’s hull.
In this thoughtfully crafted recreational space, the ambiance is one of camaraderie and relaxation. The crew of the USS Leviathan can unwind, engage in friendly competition, or simply enjoy a moment of respite from the demands of their duties. It stands as a testament to the ship’s commitment to fostering a sense of community and well-being among its diverse crew members.

USS LeviathanKit was standing next to NE Lieutenant Counihan, the two playing a round of darts. “Oh come on best four out of seven” pleaded NE Counihan. “Why are you still playing Counihan? Didn’t I tell you challenging a female Orion, no offense Kit, was a stupid idea. They literally grow up playing with knives, and throwing them.” said NE Ensign Kumari. Kit just laughed at her fellow science mates “Kumari if the young Mister Counihan wants to keep running up the tab he owes the replicator for our drinks, I say let him.” NE Couniham looked at Lieutenant Kitiuas “Is it true what Kumari says, you know about Orion women playing and throwing knives.” Kit looked at him with mischief in her eyes “To be honest, yes. In general a proper Orion female is taught how to use a knife at a very early age, usually around five. At the age of six we begin to train in the basic steps of ‘Dancefighting’, we use practice danceknives, which trust me will shock the devil out of you, but better than being cut by a dancerknife. Ever seen one of the energy-based knives?” Kit inquired. Both men nodded no. In the blink of an eye, so fast one could not even track Kit’s movements a device appeared in her hand an indistinct blue blade slightly humming. “This gentlemen is a dancerknife. Pure energy with adjustable speed to allow the wielder to either cause severe pain or cut an individual and leave them not realizing it.” With the same quickness as she produced it, she made it disappear. She smiled again at the two of them “So yes I grew up playing with knives. So you said something about best four out of seven?” she inquired of NE Counihan. He smiled back, “Sure, my luck’s got to turn sometime.” Kit laughed “Okay then, best four out of seven. Kumari get us all another round of Guinness.” NE Kumari laughed and walked over to the replicator to get the orders.

USS LeviathanAs Atos stepped into the lounge, his keen blue antennae twitched with amusement at the lively scene unfolding before him. Amidst the gathering around the dartboard, an Orion woman seemed to effortlessly captivate some of the male crew members with her feminine charm. Intrigued by both the presence of the Orions and the game they were engaged in, he confidently made his way over to join them.
“Excuse me,” Atos interjected with a polite tone, his vibrant blue skin contrasting against the warm hues of the lounge. “I couldn’t help but catch wind of your conversation about the game. Would you mind if I observed?”
His Andorian accent lent a distinct cadence to his words as he awaited their response, his curiosity sparked by the intriguing discussion of Orion women and their prowess with knives.

USS LeviathanKit smiled “Sure no problem. Kumari get a drink for our new friend here. Oh, and by the way, the drinks are mandatory, Lieutenant Counihan has so far been using up his rations for the drinks.” She said with a laugh “Have you ever played darts?” she inquired.
Lieutenant Kitiuas Thenis, Science
USS LeviathanAtos graciously accepted the offer for a drink, though internally he couldn’t help but question the wisdom of using rations for synthetic alcohol. The concept of indulging in recreational beverages seemed frivolous to him, especially considering the limited resources aboard a starship. He had never fully understood the human, and for that matter, Orion need for drinking; it was a cultural aspect that he struggled to comprehend.
As Kit inquired about his experience with darts, Atos shook his head slightly. “I haven’t played Earth darts before,” he admitted, “but Andorians have a similar game involving precision and accuracy. It’s a popular pastime among our people as well.”
His curiosity about the game piqued, Atos observed the dartboard with interest, intrigued by the dynamics of the game and eager to learn more about this aspect of human and Orion recreation.

USS LeviathanDayner entered the Crew Lounge and stood for a moment, taking in the goings on of the place. To him it seemed distinctly Human - something which he was still at grasps with.
As he stood he observed some of the games being played. Some of them bore some similarity to games played back home on Angosia III, but others were unfamiliar to him. Games did little to interest him. Most of his free time (which seemed to be ever decreasing these days) was spent reading, or listening to music. For most of his life Dayner had been more than comfortable with his own company, so much so that he found he even preferred to lead a solitary life. He often wondered if this was a detriment to him or not. Had his penchant for a sort of socially isolated existence stunted him in some way? He didn’t care to ponder the question for too long, he had other more interesting things to mull over. Nevertheless, ironically, he’d brought himself to one of the social hot-spots of the Leviathan. This was a self-prescribed (yet Counselor endorsed) effort to get out of his comfort zone, to mix and socialise. Though at first the idea made him feel uncomfortable, he’d decided to treat it more as a scientific experiment which seemed to make the idea more agreeable. Besides, the people in this room were his Crew mates after-all, he would live among them, serve alongside them and (should things go terribly wrong) die with them.
As his mind ran these things over, he realised that he’d been standing in the door way for some time now, and was beginning to draw stares. Time to… mix, he supposed.Spotting the RTF and Science Officers, he approached them. “Excuse me, do you mind if I join you?” His tone was formal, he mentally admonished himself for sounding so stiff, he must make an effort to lighten up and relax!

Chief Engineer/Containment ArchitectMac walked in dressed in a red shirt black pants and black shoes. Her hair was in a loose french twist the ribbons that held it matched her shirt and pants.
She started weaving her way through the lounge and making greetings or offering cheeky smiles as she moved.

Jackson strolled into the lounge, his eyes immediately drawn to the lively atmosphere. He had just finished his shift, feeling weary from the day’s tasks, and was simply looking forward to getting something to eat and retreating to his quarters for some rest. However, as he stepped further into the lounge, he couldn’t help but notice the expertly cordoned-off section where a few of the crew members were gathered. The sound of conversation and laughter lifted his spirits and despite his fatigue he wanted to join them.
As he approached, his gaze lingered on the beverages displayed at the self-serve bar, a welcome sight after a long day’s work. As he settled in among his shipmates a smile tugged at the corners of his lips, and he said. “So we are having a party? What’s the occasion?”
