Across the ship’s internal intercom and as a message to their personal calendars the following announcement:

In accordance with ARU standard protocol following an away mission, all personnel listed below are required to arrange appointments with the ship counselors for one-on-one sessions. This is mandatory and will help ensure the well-being and mental health of our crew following recent events. Please schedule your appointments after receiving medical attention.

Iphigenia’s irritation flared at the automated announcement echoing through the ship. The reminder of her mandatory counseling session grated on her nerves, exacerbating the already tense atmosphere following the recent mission. She clenched her fists, feeling the weight of responsibility pressing down on her shoulders.

“Of course I need to see the counselor,” she muttered under her breath as she sat alone in her ready room, frustration simmering beneath her composed exterior. The impersonal tone of the announcement only served to magnify her annoyance. It was as if the ship’s computer felt the need to publicly broadcast her need for psychological support.

With a heavy sigh, Iphigenia resigned herself to the necessity of the session, acknowledging the importance of mental health care for herself and her crew. Yet, the abrupt reminder felt like a jab at her leadership, highlighting the challenges they faced in the aftermath of their mission. She would comply with the protocol, but the sting of the announcement lingered.
