Saoir furrowed his face in concentration as he, with the help of three engineers, meticulously examined the intricate web of components and controls in transporter panels on the ship. The urgency of the situation pressed upon him – the away team may eventually need these transporters and them being functional depended on his ability to unravel the mystery that was impeding them being from operational. His engineering expertise along with his security role allowed him to operate in a dual capacity aboard the Leviathan.

A bead of sweat trickled down Saoir’s blue temple as he studied the diagnostics, his fingers sliding across the control panel with a precision. The hum of the ship’s systems echoed in the background, amplifying the tension in the air.

The alien planet’s interference with the transporters confounded Saoir. It was as if the very fabric of the planet’s atmosphere conspired against the delicate dance of matter conversion. His mind raced through the technical schematics, attempting to decode the anomaly that eluded conventional reasoning.

Due to his Kelpien features, frustration was not evident but it was there as he muttered to himself, techno babble escaping his lips. “The quantum resonance matrix is within nominal parameters, but there’s an unaccounted interference cascade from the atmospheric composition. It defies standard analysis protocols.”

His beady eyes darted across the display, searching for a solution buried within the tons of data. Tiny drops of perspiration gathered on his forehead as he studied the complexities of the transporter’s innards. =^=Perhaps recalibrating the phase discriminator and modulating the pattern buffers could mitigate the interference,=^= he said into his comm, fingers flying across the controls .

An Engineer chimed in on the comm and said, =^=Yes, yes. We should try that. Let me know when you are ready so we can begin the calibration at the time.=^=

With the recent system failure their first attempt to recalibrate failed. The system had to reset.
=^=Commander, I am in the process of a transporter dilemma here. The alien planet’s interference is playing tricks with the atmospheric dance of matter conversion. I’ve identified a potential solution involving recalibrating the phase discriminator and modulating the pattern buffers. Our first attempted failed because of the recent interference with the ships systems. I am re-coordinating with the engineers to update the calibration process. Stand by for further updates.=^=

=^= Aye Commander. Now that we are moving out of orbit of the planet, the transporters seem to be slowly coming back online, however, we are much too far away to beam the away team back to the Leviathan. We must find a balance here. I will on every angle I can fine.=^=

Deshara entered the transporter room where Saoir was working. He seemed frustrated that he couldn’t get the transporters operational. “I don’t understand. I have tried everything. I mean we have some functionality since we have moved further from the planet, but we are out of range to beam the team back. The Captain, Lieutenant Ruuk, Kindle…they may be lost…”

Deshara put her hand on Saoirs back and said, it’s not you. It’s the planet. The energy is causing our systems to fail. In any case we have a plan. We are going to synchronize the probe launch with the transporter operation. Lieutentant Thenis will monitor and configure the probes from here, Saoir you should handle the transporter, and I will coordinate with the bridge to locate our crew on the surface.” She began to type some information into the transporter console. “We need precision in launching the probes. I will set the EM Field pattern parameters to optimize charging. Once launched, we should be able to keep an open channel with the away team through their communicators.”

Saoir stared at Deshara for a moment then nodded. He activated the comms then said, “CIC, prepare for probe launch.” He quickly moved to the transporter console. Lieutenant Thenis we will launch on your command. How long do you need to ready the probes?” Saoir asked.

Kit entered and walked over to the station. She pulled up the diagrams on the class-7 probes and began to input some data, the trick would be making the probes energy signals invisible to creatures who could detect electromagnetic energy, and more that likely other spectrum energy. “Okay folks here is the deal, we need to have the probes do a dead drop through the atmosphere and only hit the landing thrusters at the last second. Now the next trick will be to slowly open low wave frequency scans and work our way up, at the same time any and all electromagnetic energy needs to be minimized to barely nothing to nothing,” She looked up at Ensign Saoir and Cadet Toussaint “Think you can handle it? Before you ask Cadet Toussaint what do you recall about Terran animals that use electricity for either electrogenesis; generating electric pulses, or electroreception; detecting these pulses. Well I believe our friends on the surface do both, hence the reason for little to no electromagnetic energy.”

Deshara stopped her work on the console as she considered Lieutenant Thenis’s question. She looked at Saoir then Thenis as she answered the question. “Terran animals possess unique abilities related to electricity. For instance, some creatures can generate electric pulses, a process known as electrogenesis. This ability is often used for communication, navigation, or even defense.”
Saoir nodded and added, “On the other hand, electroreception involves the detection of electric pulses in the environment. Animals like certain fish and amphibians use this ability to locate prey or navigate through their surroundings. It’s a crucial aspect of their survival strategy. Kelpiens employ this ability to keep in contact and sense dangerous situations.”

Deshara smiled at Saoir and said to Thenis, “We can handle it, Lieutenant Thenis.”

Saoir’s voice echoed through the room as he continued coordinating with the bridge. “Bridge, this is Saoir. We are preparing to launch probes synchronized with the transporter operation. Stand by for updates.”

As the countdown began, Saoir took a deep breath and focused on the transporter controls. “Lieutenant Thenis, let us know when those probes are ready.”

Thenis finished the complex mathematical equation and uploaded it into the programing of the probes. “We are ready as we can be, remember a dead drop them through the atmosphere, then at the last minute hit the landing thrusters. It will minimize the detection of the probes.”
