[snip!]Webb might have noticed the controls were not as difficult to manage as one would think. Someone had found a way to put the controls into some sort of ‘testing mode’, where normal safety parameters are off. Then used a basic loop to prevent the computer from automatically resetting to normal, with the added function of preventing new inputs from being processed. It was a simple subroutine just complicated enough to preform the task, and the override seemed to be just enough to break the loop.
After a while, Ensign Collins was showing more signs of movement. He started almost gulping for air.
“I think we’re getting him back…” Nyman noted out loud. “Ensign Collins? Are you with us?”
The Ensign shook his head weakly, eyes still closed. “It’s… why is it… cold-very cold…” he panted.
“You’re going to be okay,” Nyman reassured him, “Dr. Maxwell is here, we’re going to make sure you’re okay.”
Nyman left the Ensign’s side for a moment. He approached the Cadet at the console. He leaned in next to her, a serious look in his eyes,
“I know it’s not my department, but…” he said to her quietly, glancing over at the others again before continuing,
“If you find anything out of place, that could point to this being intentional, I’d like to know- in addition to you informing security, of course.”
|Lt. Nyman,
Chief Counselor|D’Layne nodded to Lt. Nyman, acknowledging the gravity of the situation. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss. While he continued to work on restoring the climate controls, his mind raced with possibilities. As the temperature in the room gradually normalized the young engineer couldn’t shake the suspicion that this incident might be more than a mere technical glitch. Why was it in testing mode? It didn’t make sense.
As he reviewed the computer logs, they displayed that recently someone with enough knowledge and access to manipulate the system subtly had done so. He wasn’t experienced in this type of sabotage, just being a second-year cadet himself. However, D’Layne couldn’t help but wonder if this was an isolated incident or part of a broader scheme. As he sifted through the data, he saw clear evidence of the intrusion that any engineer would recognize, a deliberate attempt to compromise the control panel. He subtly motioned for Lt. Nyman to have a look, realizing the severity of the situation. “Lieutenant,” D’Layne said quietly, “I think I have found evidence of deliberate tampering with the climate control system. It wasn’t just a malfunction. Someone tried to manipulate it intentionally, perhaps to incapacitate Ensign Collins. But who would want to do that and why?”
Webb, Engineer
Listening from the main medical facilities, Laural didn’t like what she was hearing. She was concerned enough when she thought Ensign Collins might have deliberately done this to himself or perhaps there was an accidental dysfunction. To learn the Ensign may have been deliberately targeted was incomprehensible.
Witley’s protective and nurturing instincts kicked in. “Doctor, will you be transporting the Ensign to the main medical facilities?” She forced herself to limit comment to that simple question, recognizing she was not in charge of the situation medically.
=/\= “Yes, we’ll be bringing him shortly,” Brad replied. =/\=
~Doctor Laural Witley, CounselorNyman simply responded with slight nod. Absorbing the information. While still thinking, he noticed the shift to yellow alert, and communication calling for medical personnel. He paced back over to Brad,
“If he’s in good enough condition, I’m sure Dr. Whitley can handle the rest in sickbay.” he stated. There was the implication that he understood that the doctor might be needed elsewhere at the moment.
|Lt. Nyman,
Chief Counselor|As the ship hurtled through the turbulent atmosphere, the entire vessel shuddered violently in response to the electromagnetic pulse. The sudden impact caused the lights to flicker and the holographic displays to momentarily glitch. The ship’s automated systems triggered the unmistakable blare of klaxons, bathing every corridor and compartment in the ominous glow of red alert. The abrupt transition caught several crew members off guard, leading to moments of unsteadiness and stumbling.
=^= All senior officers report to the briefing room in 30 minutes, and ensure your stations are secure. Loughty Out =^=
(OOC: Still keep this running in the background by all means, It would be a good opportunity for you to brief Oliver on your current situation too, I hope 30 minutes is enough IG time for you to progress this enough for the briefing.)
Commander Oliver Loughty
Executive Officer
USS LeviathanLieutenant Nyman felt the electromagnetic pulse, somewhere between a slight shock and a loud bang throughout his body. He involuntarily winched, but was able to function through the subsequent headache.
“Webb, can you prepare a report about what you’ve found so far?” he asked, though still a bit dazed, “Could you have it ready and sent to the briefing room in about 30 minutes?”
(OOC: I’m okay with leaving it here, or if there are no objections, I’ll go ahead and move this post to sickbay.)
|Lt. Nyman,
Chief Counselor|As a Cadet this request was a big deal. In lieuof the situationWebb flashed a large smile and said, “Of course, Lieutenant Nyman. I’ll gather all pertinent data on what we’ve encountered and compile a detailed report for the briefing room. Expect it in 30 minutes sharp,” Webb responded, tapping into the ship’s systems to retrieve relevant information.
Webb, Engineer
“Computer, initiate medical transport of myself, Lieutenant Nyman, and Ensign Connors to sickbay,” Brad ordered.
(OOC: Likewise okay with leaving this segment for now.)

Chief Medical Officer
The monotone voice of the computer responded, “All transporters, Lieutenant Maxwell, are currently inoperable. Must rely on manual transport.”
