Lieutenant Nyman frowned. He had been waiting in his office for over an hour. He double checked his appointment logs. It confirmed that Ensign Conners was late. Perhaps he had forgotten?“ Computer,” he called, “Where is Ensign Harlow Conners currently?”
“Ensign Conners is in his quarters on Deck 5.” the computer responded.
Nyman stood up from his desk. He would go and visit Conners in his quarters, just to check up, and possibly reschedule. Only because he seemed so eager to follow up after last session. The Lieutenant made his way, though the counseling center and up the turbolift and onto Deck Seven. He stopped outside the crew quarters listed as belonging to the Ensign.
“Ensign Conners?” he called out. After a moment he tried again, this time also ringing the chime.
“Ensign?”
No response. Normally that wouldn’t be an issue. Something felt different, though. It was too quite, and too… warm? After an attempt to open the door he found it locked. He hesitated. Maybe it was nothing. But just to be certain,
“Computer, allow for emergency medical access to crew quarters registered to Ensign Harlow Conners on Deck Seven. Access Code Nyman-Theta-16. “
The doors opened, and it was like all the cold air from the corridor was sucked in. Stepping in was like ramming into a wall of heat. The lights were turned off. The room was still, lifeless. Perhaps, he thought hopefully, the computer was mistaken about his location. Perhaps he left his badge here by accident. Turning on the light confirmed that was not the case. The Ensign was slumped over in an armchair, unconscious. His skin dry and flushed with red.
“Ensign Conners?” Nyman called, forcing a strong voice, “Ensign, can you her me?”
After getting no response, his emergency medical training kicked in. He immediately tested the Ensign’s pulse. It was fast, too fast. The skin was hot to the touch. Tapping his badge Nyman called,
=^= Lieutenant Nyman to sickbay, I need immediate assistance. A crew member is unconscious. =^=

OOC: I don’t wish to overstep and am not sure of plans, so please ignore me if I am, I just thought I’d help since Laural has medical training too.
Laural frowned and felt her heart quicken ever so slightly. As a psychiatrist, her medical degree was only the start of her training, but Starfleet required her to keep her medical skills sharp, and Laural was comitted to doing so by helping out in sickbay. This call for help was far from the usual headaches and sprained muscles, and was all the more unexpected because Lieutenant Nyman was the one making the call. “Witley here, sir. Is there any reason you can see why a site to site transport to sickbay might be ill-advised? Signs of a broken neck, perhaps?” It was not the most pleasant topic to be sure, but even in this day and age, moving an injured person via transport could still prove dangerous depending on the injury.

Brad came jogging out of his office at the emergency call, suddenly alert after what had felt like an eternity of paperwork. He caught the last parts of Witley’s response as he grabbed one of the easily accessible medkits off the wall. “I’ll check it out, Doctor,” he told her, “if you could prep a biobed for trauma response. If all is safe to do so, I’ll transport back shortly with the patient.” He turned to face the wall, an ultimately pointless action but one that was unconsciously part of his routine, and ordered, “Computer, initiate site-to-site transport to the room Lieutenant Nyman is in.”
Dr. Brad Maxwell, CMO
Brad would have found Lieutenant Nyman in the Ensign’s quarters, replicating cold compresses and rushing over to apply them to patient, a human male about 23 years old. The heat in the room was noticeable immediately, even with the door open to vent it out.
“I- I wasn’t sure if I should move him,” Nyman explain between panting breaths, caused by mixture of nervousness and the heat.
“But body temperature is reading over 39.4, and the climate controls are locked… They are locked at 40. Computer… not responding, w-won’t let me override.”

=/\=”Maxwell to Engineering, I need an engineering team in Ensign Connors’ quarters ASAP,” Bradley called in,=/\= then pulled out his medical tricorder and got to scanning Connors, wiping his brow as he began to perspire. “This seems unlikely to have just happened. Do you know of anything the Ensign was working on that could have caused this, or any reason he or someone else may have done it?”
