I lights flickered in the lab as glass shattered and spread across the floor. NE Daniels rushed toward where the crash had came from and was met with an atrocity he had never seen before. As he tried to tap his comm badge to alert security there was an anomaly on the ship it lunged at him. His screams echoed through the empty lab as he met his fate with this creature.

The unknown

Ensign Kitiuas Thenis was putting n a ’Late’ night in her assigned science lab for her work as the ships Cryptozoologist, Hominologist, Entomologist, Arachnologist, and Ecologist. She was reviewing the latest data on a new species of arachnids found on Pertiru 19, one of twenty seven moons that orbited two gas giants in the Pertiru system. From what she gathered the oddity of the two gas giants orbiting each other as the revolved around the Class M Red Star had the Starfleet Scientific community in a tizzy, to find seven planetoid moons with habitable atmospheres and life was even more exciting. What Kit found exciting was the 2.43 meter, or 8 foot, arachnids on Pertiru 19; they appeared to have a very high communal mind link and were highly aggressive. She paused in her reading because she thought she heard a scream coming from one of the science labs. She got up from her desk and hit her combadge =^=Security, may I have a security detail meet me at the cryptozoology lab, I thought I heard a scream come from one of the science labs.=^= With that she waited, Must remember to follow protocol she thought to herself, as she reached into her desk drawer and pulled out her Dancerknife, which she quickly tucked into a discreet place.

Dr.Hellsing was listening to the ships communications in the containment deck when he heard the call go out. “That doesn’t sound right” he said to himself. He was close enough so he grabbed his hunting phaser rifle and went to check it out. He exit the turbo lift. And tapped his com badge =A= ensign this is Lt. Hellsing we’re are you =A=

Kitiuas replied back =^=I am in my lab office, the cryptozoology, I heard a scream come from one of the science labs. I am following protocol and awaiting at least one other crewmember or security to arrive before I proceed to investigate. =^= Then remembering another protocol she had almost forgotten she hit her combadge =^=Computer seal all science lab rooms. Rooms to be opened by correct access codes of either science team members or command staff. =^= Whew almost messed that one up. she thought.

NE Jackson, who was one of the security officers on duty that night, had briefly dozed off while sitting at his station in the Squad room. Earlier he had made his rounds through the decks of the ship and since all appeared to be uneventful, he told his partner NE Zalbred, that he would cover for him for a few hours if he wanted to disappear.
When the call came in from Thenis, Jackson jumped to his feet and quickly acknowledged her hail, =^= On my way!=^= he said as he exited the Squad room and headed to the cryptozoology lab. He tapped his commbadge again and attempted to hail NE Zalbred but accidentally opened the wrong channel in his haste and hailed the Security Chief and others on the security team, =^=Security to Zalbred! You better get back to your station. Something has happened in the cryptozoology lab, I am going to check it out but we need someone in the Squad room to monitor the defense systems. Jackson out!=^=

When NE Jackson arrived at the cryptozoology lab, he armed his phaser, setting it to stun. “What’s going on here?” he asked the Orion woman, with serious eyes, as he approached her.

Soon Hellsing entered the lab “ so can I ask you a few questions” he said to the Orion women. “How can you hear a scream if all labs are sound proof and all the doors were closed. I checked them on my way here” he said.

Dr. Hellsing

“Good question, the lab doors were sealed on my command. Prior to that NE Daniels had the lab door he was working in open, and I had mine open as well, to ensure the young technician was performing his duties. I was reading data on a new species of arachnids when I heard the scream. I therefore called security and sealed all science labs until security arrived, per protocol Sir. As you are intimately familiar, the science we do is not the average science of Starfleet. Now since we have a security officer here and yourself Sir, may I say we investigate what trouble it appears our young NE Daniels has found while cleaning the labs?” replied Kitiuas in a very calm and unperturbed manner.
