Lance was at a work bench in his office the lights were off and he was scanning a glowing blue liquid. As the light from the hallway flooded the room he looked over His shoulder “ hurry up and get in keep the lights off” he said as he poured a glowing red liquid. The blue engulfed the red very fast. After the blue liquid calm down Lance put the liquid container into a containment locker and locked the system. “Sorry about that it was feeding time” he said smiling at his new jo “ And you must be my new shiny” he said holding out his hand “I am Dr. Hellsing. Yes the same family of Hellsing from the stories and yes I am you DH”

“Yes, Sir.” Tom replied to the yes-man with a Dr’s outfit. “Nice to meet you, Sir. Hope I didn’t interrupt anything.”

Lance didn’t look like he was wearing a stir fleet uniform he had khaki BTUs a black polo and a white overcoat and a pair of glasses rested on his nose. Lance picked up a pad looked it over and forward the new schedule to the JO “ i’m gonna have you mainly working in the engineering deck you know work calculations diagnostic checks and then we’re going to ease you into the more Advanced stuff” he said as he walked to his desk and took a seat “ take a seat we like to have anything to eat or drink” he asked.

“Outstanding.” Tom took the timetable and saved a copy to his PADD. “Lemonade is fine, thank you, Sir.” He seated and put down his bag. He was now assured the man with glasses was an engineer and a doctor. But not the medical one.

Lance turn his chair around to the replicator ordered a cup of ice cold lemonade and a cup of ice cold Dr Pepper. As the drinks materialized he put his drink down and ensign’s drink down as he was doing so you noticed a ARU pin on the color of his lab coat. “ so tell me why do you choose engineering” he asked

Tom thanked the drink and took a sip. “That’s a question I’ve been asking myself since college, and I don’t have a definite answer yet.” He continued. “Before Star-Fleet, I was trained in Computer Science. This field required a lot of engineering training. As a science officer on the previous ship. After the repairs with the engineers, I found it’s time to take a turn.” He took a pause and said. “But in short, I cared about the ship system more than sitting in a Lab. After all, a question without solutions is just not practical.”

Lance looked him over “do you have any questions about me no my last name” he asked his cover story was simple the Great Hunter Von Hellsing was his ancestor. The truth is He is the Great Hunter Von Hellsing. Something happened to him the nite he supposedly killed Count Dracula who many believed he was a vampire. He was actually a traveler from distant Star warm blood is what they feed on. That night wooden stake in hand he woke up and frozen me with his eyes. He beamed me to a room and did experiments on me and did something to my DNA I don’t age anymore. It was hard trying to avoid history.

“Sure thing, Sir.” He looked around and said. “You have an interesting taste in decorating this office. Are you a Chemical Engineer or some kind?” He asked a question that mattered to himself only. He was only interested in who could do what, rather than what happened in the past. He sipped and waited for the CE’s comment. From his observation, he thought the person in charge was probably closer to his age. But in space, he had to keep an open mind for unexpected things.

Lance smiled “ Chemical engineering that brings me back. Did you know that the Phoenix the first ever warp flight used chemical engines for a warp drive. Now we use Matter and antimatter in order to create warp drive. To answer your question I am a jack of all trades I have several PhD‘s in engineering and warp mechanics Including temporal warp mechanics”

Tom eyes shined a little bit when he heard the legendary term. “Yes, Doctor Cochrane is always inspirational on that. Just imagine how many Gs he faced before warp 1. And the Vulcans were impressed by that. And now the Fleet is following this example by helping other species.” He giggled. “I wish I could say that one day. I’m only trained in computer cores so I’ll need some catch-ups on the engines.”

Lance closed his eyes remembering the news “he only felt the G’s at take off when he was in orbit there were no G’s to feel that and he still had to make a warp Field and that alone will stop any G’s anyway” he said with a smile “your an engineer you should’ve known that”

Tom was satisfied with the fact that this man had conscious and common sense, as a tech person. “Only if he wasn’t drunk, Sir.” He laughed. “I think he was probably sick the whole time in a confined cabin.”

Lance smiled “Even if he was too drunk to flip the switch He still had to start fleet officers from the future with him” he stopped halfway saying that thinking did he say too much.
