OOC: I’ll be repeating this thread for each department in turn, so feel free to jump in to any that apply to you

IC: Deep blue liquor scorched a trail down the old man’s throat, the tumbler’s contents swallowed rapidly in a singular, desperate gulp, as of one crawling the burning sands of the Sahara to quench thirst with the last water on Earth. Six months since anything more than weak tea had graced Cobb’s lips, the ARU’s reputation for prisoner welfare egregious. But as trembling hands procured a second measure, thoughts turned to the captain’s mandatory plans for the day. And in that moment Zachariah found himself beset by a longing for the solitude of his former cell.

The location of ARU headquarters, official designation Starbase 237 or ‘Hades’ for those who dwelled within, was classified. For decades had they transmitted warnings of unstable conditions around the Bardeezi nebula to keep all other travellers at bay. But draw back those curtains of ionized gas and a true marvel of engineering would be seen, recalling for Cobb his mother’s favourite lillies, three ‘petals’ forming detachable containment districts around a gargantuan, central stem. And coiled like a serpent at the middle of the stem, the most breathtaking place on the station - the promenade deck.

No individual was permitted at the starbase without sufficient clearance, still compartmentalisation was what the ARU did best. So when Cobb suggested meeting the crew of the Leviathan on the ‘outdoor’ promenade - an imperceptible forcefield the only barrier between its occupants and deep space - Admiral Roebuck sequestered an entire quadrant of the popular, circular deck. And it was here, with large desk and chair replacing the usual recreational seating, that Captain Zachariah Cobb would hold court, as one by one the Leviathan’s department members submitted to his inquisitive glare.

“If I didn’t know you better”, the Admiral laughed as he sampled the refreshment platter’s red strawberries, “I would say that you, Zachariah Cobb, are nervous.”
The captain snorted, draining his glass before refilling again to the brim. “You’re damned right I’m nervous. The last crew I commanded are still in mandatory counselling. And that’s just the ones who managed to make it back.”
Roebuck shrugged a warm smile to reassure his troubled friend. “You have a good crew, Zachariah. I think you’ll be impressed.”
“It’s not them that concerns me.”

The denouement of his statement remained unspoken, Roebuck stepping in to propel events forward in the captain’s hesitant stead.

=^= Leviathan engineering team, this is Admiral Roebuck. Please present yourself at the north-west quadrant of the promenade deck in one hour, to meet your new commanding officer, Captain Cobb. =^=

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Lance found his way to the North west quadrant of the promenade. It didn’t take him long he was one of the few who had clearance due to his family name and the work they do and his work with the SCP foundation. Lance just got done showing his Latest new tool. BAM (Behavioral Acoustic Modulator) with this Device it clams the creatures in Containment.

Lance got to where he needed to be in time “Hello Captain Cobb it is so good to see you again”

Lt. Lance Von Hellsing
Dr. Hellsing

“Dr Hellsing,” Zachariah was quick to his feet and clapping the engineer’s shoulder before he could blink. “Another who made it back from Alini in one piece.” He stepped back and surveyed the man from head to toe. “You are still in one piece, I presume?”
A brief chuckle before the wave of solemnity hit. “Listen, it can not have been easy to make that return from the anomaly. Nobody understands that better than myself. I saw through the looking glass, Dr Hellsing. I saw…”

From behind them came an urgent clearing of the throat, Admiral Roebuck already filling three glasses with a liquor of vibrant green. “Lieutenant Hellsing, can I offer you a drink? Myself and Captain Cobb have been greatly enjoying the aldebaran whiskey.”
One glass thrust quickly into Zachariah’s hand, the old man found sense enough to stay his errant tongue beneath his superior’s withering gaze. “Aye, Dr Hellsing, join us and have a seat. I have something of an offer to make you, if you intend to remain on my crew?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Lance took a Seat “Nothing for me sir I still have a lot to do and yes I am still part of your crew” he said relaxing “the BAM is working very well and my family sent me some new monster hunting gear”

Lt. Lance Von Hellsing
Dr. Hellsing

“Monster hunting gear?” the captain’s eyebrows raised appreciatively. “The traditional kind? If so then perhaps you and I should give them a trial run on the holodeck one evening.”

A pause while the old man sipped at his whiskey, regarding the other with curious interest.
“So, I’ll cut right to the chase. The departure of Mr Durheim has left us without an engineering chief. A vital component for any vessel, but none more than the Leviathan. Now, you’ve been with her the longest out of all the engineers onboard, although that’s not why I’ve earmarked you for the role. It’s because, as a former engineer myself, I know how damned good you are. And I also know that you don’t rattle easily.”

Cobb sat back and savoured another draught. “So then, Lieutenant Hellsing. What do you say? Will you lead the Leviathan’s engineering team towards our next mission and beyond?”

  • Captain Zachariah Cobb

Lance smiled “yes sir I will do it until I die or you find someone better” then looked at the captain “ and the gear they sent some are old school and I have made a few for Modern use” he said fixing his glasses.
