The clang of his boots clanged on the uncarpeted deck of the corridor that was leading to where Phil’s new ship was docked. It was far away from the usual docking bays and moorings which were often busy bustling places with carpeted floors, retail units and entertainment facilities on close by. This was far away, and well away from public view. The corridors on this part of the starbase were purely functional and not designed to be asthetically pleasing. There were no facades hiding the various electronic panels, cables and conduits that ran along the walls and ceilings. Here they were all open to view and only authorised personnel would be able to disembark the turbolift on this level. This was as he had expected upon being assigned to the Leviathan’s security and RTF details. The Leviathan’s mission and details of her specification were classified at such a level that all that existed of her to most people were a name and rumours. The most widely heard rumour was that the ship itself was living. As Phil approached the security door bearing the number 42, the marine thought he was about to find his answer. He pressed his right palm onto the bio-sensor next to the door and blinked as the dim light of retinal scanner took it’s readings. A moment later the doors parted and instead of what he expected to see, Phil was greeted by the sight of a hangar bay and a transfer vessel. Clearly the need to maintain the Leviathan’s secrecy outweighed her need to actually dock at a starbase.
A pair of security officers approached approached Phil and upon inspection of the Marine’s ID and Tranfer documents they directed him to take a seat in the passenger area of the ship…

Ensign luna approached the stranger. ” iv never seen you before. I’m Ensign luna” she said with a smile. She rolled get shoulders back opening her wings only slightly for a brief moment. ” Can’t wait to get back him can’t stand starbaces how about you” she asked.
Ensign Luna“Staff-Sergeant Phil Hewson,” Phil answered in his deep Southern English voice. He was not familiar with Luna’s species or traditional greetings so he extended his right hand to shake her hand as was the greeting of his own people.
Luna shook his hand and smiled.
“For me it makes no difference,” he continued, “Starbases, ships, or outposts are all the same to me. I go where I’m told to do the job I’m told. Ground-side is nice with open skies above, but in my line of work it tends to be the more hostile environment.”
-Phil
” yah ships in my experience are nicer scientist know how to keep a respectful distance leave My Doughter and I alone. I sware the once an star baces just never learned proper manners or sumthing. Plants are nice but and easy target” she said sgruging. ” Where are you from” Dhe asked watching him carefully.
Ensign Luna“Originally? England, on Earth. I grew up in the old university city of Cambridge although I travelled around quite a bit as my parents were in the Starfleet Music Corps.”
-Phil
” Oh that’s certainly interesting, if only seen star fleet academy on earth. Cerenity’s father was from Ireland I believe.” She said. A sound caught her attention and turned her head to hear it better. Then returned her attention to Phil. ” Why join the Marines,” she asked.
Ensign Luna“Originally because they were the best band in the corps,” Phil replied, “But deployment during the Dominion war changed everything and I ended up as just another expendable jar-head grunt.”
-Phil
” why do you think so little of yourself,” she asked.
Ensign Luna“Oh, I don’t,” Phil replied, “But it is typically how marines are seen and treated.”
-Phil
” I can understand that one ill bet it’s frustrating. ” she said. There was sumthing on in her tone and she looked down at the deck.
Ensign Luna“It can be,” Phil replied, “Like everything else it’s easier if you have someone to talk to, and I don’t mean a counsellor.”
He observed he reaction and could tell something was bothering her.

She gained looking back at him ” in my experience conulers are unhalpfull” she said half joking.
Ensign LunaPhil laughed and smiled broadly. “I’ll drink to that,” he said agreeing with Luna.
-Phil
” im a security officer and a member of the RTF team. I think the only other Marine onboard is Vonn and they drive me insane so I try to stay away from them as much as possible, so what does a Marine do onboard a ship” she said
