The comms in Mwezi’s quarters indicated a received message.

Opening it, it appeared to have been sent from the same terminal it was being read on. In fact, it seemed to have been sent exactly when the message was opened.

One message, five words long:

You need to shave. =/\=

Mwezi stared at the message, confused for a moment. Why would he shave, he was supposed to be covered in fur! Then his eyes snapped to the first word. Warren.

Either this message wasn’t intended for him, or there was something else going on. Because he hadn’t mentioned Kane’s old nickname for him. He hadn’t said anything to anyone. So no one should be calling him Warren, except…? Kane? All Mwezi knew about Kane’s disappearance was that it had something to do with the Sar’tep, same as his own disappearance. Was it so impossible to imagine he’d come through as well?

Mwezi took a few deep breaths, staring at the console, then began to do some research, searching up his friend’s name. There had to be something in the database. He’d take this as far as he had to to find Solomon Kane. Just one familiar face, just one shared experience. It had to be true.
